Hackers had access for 5 years and potentially compromised hundreds of billions of SMS text messages, likely including 2nd Factor Authentication codes that protect logins and are used to reset passwords. The supply-chain/3rd party style breach likely exposed billions of mobile text messages and 2FA security codes, giving attackers the ability to gain selective access to very sensitive systems and data.
