Evening walk with my mom; funny experience Good morning beautiful souls. Hope you had a great night's rest. Have a wonderful day ahead. I woke up this morning having no idea about what to write down, then I just decided to write about my experience with my mom yesterday during one of our evening walks. It has been a long time since I had an evening walk with my mom because she traveled and just came back a few days ago. Having a walk with an African mom can be interesting and tiring at the same time😂. She just told me to accompany her to her friend's place which is just 15 minutes walk from our house. We were set to leave the house by 6:00 pm, so I just ate my dinner before we start our journey🤣 Hmm….. We left the house by 6:15 pm. On the way, I met one of my old friends who was also a church member. She was heavily pregnant! I think she'll soon be due for delivery. My mom was shocked but she quickly 'cleaned off' the shocked expression from her face. She was shocked because the girl is way younger than my younger sister, I think she was just 15 years old. My mom looked at me with a 'one *kain'* look but I avoided her gaze even though I knew she was trying to pass some messages through her look. She greeted the girl with a warm smile. With the thought that we would continue our journey immediately, she started having some discussions with the girl; asking her about her parents and all sorts. I was left standing while they were sitting under the pedestrian shed by the roadside, hehe😂. They used up 30 minutes discussing before my mom called on me and waved the girl goodbye. By that time I was already tired😫 and frustrated. We continued our walk. She initiated a conversation when she noticed my quiet mood. The girl's situation prompted her to start her usual 'morning lectures'. She started with her usual quote "Bad influence ruins good characters". She talked on, even though my mind was far away. My mom was right though. I could remember when the girl was a little bit younger, she was a lovely and decent girl. It all happened when she went to live with her aunt in the city. She became friends with bad 'eggs' and was eventually influenced. She started changing both academically and morally. Later, she was influenced to engage in premarital sex and she got pregnant. Everything was just because of bad influences. We got to her friend's place a few minutes after seven. A 15 minutes walk had turned into an hour journey🤦‍♀️. At that moment, I was already feeling sleepy so she promised to spend just 20 minutes at her friend's place. After exchanging greetings, they sat down and started having some random discussions. While I was sitting and waiting, I slept off. My mom woke me up when they were done. Alas! The time was 8:00 pm. I nearly burst into tears, just kidding😹. It was at that moment I promised myself not to accompany my mom anywhere again. I had to eat another dinner when we got home. It was such an annoying and funny experience. I know the Africans here can relate😂 Image source: Unsplash

Living in insecurities Hi beautiful souls. It feels good to be back here after a long period. I hope you're doing well.Well, I can't say the same for myself since I have been ruminating on one of the challenges occurring in this country and it has been a heavy burden on my heart. The rate at which my country is becoming insecure is very alarming.it's saddening whenever I remember I live in a country where citizens' security is taken with levity. People are robbed of their lives and properties right in a so-called 'secured country'. In a country where people strive all day and night to survive and make ends meet, they get robbed of the little they gather at the end of the day. Many get kidnapped and would be asked to pay a huge ransom in exchange for their lives. Some are even killed for their failure to meet the demands of the kidnappers. What a country! A friend of mine shared an experience of how she got kidnapped last week on her way home from the supermarket. She had been standing by the roadside for an hour waiting for a cab but couldn't get one. In her haste to get home quickly, she boarded a motorcycle even though she has a phobia of it. Along the way, another passenger, a man, joined her on the motorcycle. They continued their journey until the man alighted just some distance from her street. Then, she noticed the rider increase the speed and rode past her street despite her telling him she had gotten to her destination. He paid deaf ears and it was at that moment she realized that she's been kidnapped. She panicked and started shouting for help on a lonely dark road. She felt a bit relieved when the motorcycle came to a stop abruptly, she suddenly felt dizzy and passed out. When she regained consciousness, she was by the bush on a roadside. All the items she bought from the supermarket have been stolen including her bag which contains some money and her debit card. She started waving to the oncoming cars for help. Luckily, a car stopped and when she explained her situation, the driver helped her home. The ugly experience traumatized her for some days before she became stable. Many people have experienced and been a victim of this ugly situation. Some are lucky to live to tell the story while some are not; they were murdered after being robbed of their money and properties. People's right to freedom movement has been tampered with. The fear to visit or go on trips has overwhelmed people due to the insecurities in the country; the fear of getting kidnapped or killed by bandits on the road. Some even stay in their houses yet they still get robbed and killed, even in daylight. It's so heartbreaking thinking about all these incidents and no solution has been provided. Innocent and helpless citizens are killed every day and everyone has been hiding inside their 'shells' with the thought that it's safe. I pray solutions are provided soonest for us to regain our lost rights and freedoms. Image source: Unsplash

Forgiveness and second chance "Second chance is an opportunity given to try something again after failing once" If you've been hurt and betrayed by someone you trust so much and you can't imagine yourself forgiving the person talk less of giving second chance, then this article is for you. Many people have been betrayed in their pasts that they're not even ready to forgive or give second chance. I could remember when I was in my first year in university, I was having challenges registering for many of my courses because I resumed two months after the resumption date. It was a stressful experience. It was at this process that I met Stephanie. She was new too and we were in this distress together. sooner, we became close friends since we are in the same department. We shared the same morals and principles, so I thought. I've already gotten a hostel while she was still squatting with one of her friends because her parents couldn't afford her hostel fee earlier. She started complaining about her roommate, saying, her roommate has been a bone in her neck and she's tired of living with her. Then I made the worst mistake of my life; I told her to come squat with me till she can afford her hostel fee. I thought I was just helping a friend, not knowing that I just beckoned on troubles. I was naive. She moved into my room the third day and we started living together. My room became more lively and fun, you know, having someone to gist with after hectic classes. We did everything together; we cooked together and shared many secrets. She was just like a sister. Everything changed when she got a new friend, just beside my room. she wouldn't sleep in my room but in her friend's room. At that time her parents had already sent her the hostel fee but she refused to get an apartment, which I didn't even complain about since we were friends. She started messing up the room without cleaning it up, I would be the one to do all the cleaning and other house chores including cooking the food we eat.  Whenever I complained to her about keeping the room unkept, she would flare up and go out of the room. A naive me would be worried and try to plead with her before she comes back to the room. it went on like that till my things started missing, even clothes. I was baffled but I didn't want to accuse her since I wasn't sure she was the culprit, it was until I caught her with one of my jewelry; I confronted her and it turned into an argument which made her pack out of my room. She even hit me. She got a new apartment and stayed away from me for the whole semester. I was hurt and even promised not to forgive her. The next semester, she came to me and apologized. she wanted to be my friend which I accepted, yeah I gave her a second chance but with limits and boundaries. I know you're shocked that I gave her a second chance. Here's why you should give people a second chance; **You feel happy and relieved**; there's always the joy of fulfillment in your heart whenever you forgive people. Do not hold unto the ugly past; forgive and your heart will be relieved. **People can change;** Human beings are prone to make mistakes. Our world is not perfect neither are we. I believe people learn from their faults, so giving second chance will allow them to prove that they are changed. In conclusion, how would you feel if people treat you the same way? How would feel if you are not given a second chance to correct your past mistakes? Imagine yourself in these situations and take the right step. Forgive and give second chance! A dejected Soul It was a new day when Yvonne turned 12. She was awoken by the chirpings of birds by her window. She slept late the other night because she was so anxious to celebrate her birthday so she couldn't sleep early. Immediately, she took her bath and ran to her parent's room. She was happy, she couldn't wait to visit the cinema as her dad had promised her. They got to the cinema two hours later. They watched comics movies and later went to the park where Yvonne had fun with her peers. It was evening when they decided to go back home.  It was a sorrowful evening when they got into an accident that claimed the lives of Yvonne's parents. She became an orphan and started living with her aunt,(her mother's sister) Aunty Rose as she used to call her. Rose is a married woman with no kid yet. She took Yvonne in and treated her like her kid. Sooner, Yvonne got comfortable and moved on from her parent's death. Then, it all started when Rose got pregnant, she started treating Yvonne like a slave. As young as Yvonne was, she would do all chores and run every errand for Rose. Yvonne started getting sick but Rose would care less. She would still make Yvonne do all the house chores and her failure to comply would lead to starvation. Yvonne always cried all night. Life became unbearable for Yvonne. It got to a point where she dropped out of school because Rose told her that she cannot afford to feed her and also pay her tuition fee, which is a lie. Yvonne couldn't believe this was the same person who was her mother's only sibling. She was shattered but she still believed everything was going to be fine. She prayed as her mother had always taught her and she accepted her fate. Life kept getting worse for Yvonne. Rose's husband also started making advances toward Yvonne which didn't surprise her because she has been seeing the handwriting on the wall. she wanted to tell Rose but she was afraid of what her reaction would be. When she couldn't bear it anymore, she summoned courage and told her. Exactly as she thought, Rose didn't believe her instead she beat her mercilessly, adding more scars to her body. At this point, Yvonne was already tired of life. She was sleeping one night after a stressful day, she was fast asleep when she felt a hand movement on her body. She got scared and quickly switched on her side bed lamp. The light came on and she saw Rose's husband trying to take advantage of her; she managed to escape from his grip and ran out of the house. She ran as far as her legs could take her into a dark lonely night with no hope of where to stay.  She was wandering on the road; she was lost in thought and couldn't hear the horns of the oncoming car. Before a blink of an eye, she's already been knocked down by the car. The driver immediately came down from the car and took her to the hospital. She was admitted and taken care of. She was discharged the third day and the driver, whose name is Jones, took her to his house. She was welcomed by Jones' wife with a cheerful smile, which lightened her gloomy mood.  After she explained all she had faced to Jones and his wife, they felt sorry for her and decided to adopt her since they couldn't give birth anymore. Yvonne couldn't be more grateful; she was very happy. Then and there, Yvonne got a new family who took care of her as she deserved. Thanks for reading💖💖 Image source: Unsplash

You are unique! Yeah, You're unique! Never allow people to call you what you are not. I was awake last night surfing the Internet when I came across a post of a 16year old girl committing suicide because she was bullied in school. I read that she was always bullied by her classmates because she was fat and the poorest in the class. She was bullied to the point of depression and she committed suicide. That's shocking. This incident made me remember an old schoolmate who was also a victim of bullying and body shaming. It was my last year in secondary school when a new student was enrolled in my school. She was brilliant but was the fattest in her class. She was always quiet; never talked to anyone for a week when she resumed. Then it all started when she wanted to start a conversation with her seatmate but she got snubbed. It happened thrice and she got the 'message' that her seatmate doesn't like her, even her classmates. Her classmates started treating her badly. They called her all sorts of names and mocked her. Once she sat on her seat in the morning, she wouldn't stand up until the closing time was announced not even in the cafeteria. She 'crawled' into her quiet mode. She was always alone with no friends and no one to talk to in school. She lost interest in school and her grades began to decrease drastically. She wouldn't participate in any activities in school, not even sports. She later got depressed. It was a tiring evening when I was locking the classes as one of my assignments as a prefect. I met her alone, in her class crying. I was shocked, then I inquired what the matter was. She narrated everything to me. I felt sorry for her and consoled her. We became friends, even though I was in a higher class.  She started feeling free and stood up against her classmates. She ignored their insults and didn't allow their words to get to her. She didn't let them define her; She became active and lively, even in her academics. Later, her classmates stopped the insults and bullying. We're in a society where people are criticized for things they do not have control over. It's so sad to see a young girl being criticized because of her body size or height. I was once criticized because I am tall. At first, I felt I wasn't good enough, I started feeling less of myself. People's comments about me made me have low self-esteem and feel withdrawn. It was later I discovered that no matter your height or body size, people will always criticize you. I started appreciating everything about myself. I started placing values on myself and ignoring any hurtful comments. Many people, especially ladies have been victims of this circumstance where they are criticized for their body shapes, height, and scars. Do not allow anyone to define you; you're fearfully and wonderfully made. Never give room for low self-esteem. Whatever they criticize you for is what makes you unique. Value yourself and you'll be valued. I hope this article helps some dejected souls. Thanks for reading💖💖 Image source: Unsplash

Spice it up! It's a wonderful Monday from here. How're you all doing? Have a fruitful week ahead. I was in the church yesterday when my pastor was talking about relationships. He mentioned the high rate of broken relationships nowadays. Then, I started thinking about some minor causes that could bring up a broken relationship. I pinned-point boredom. Relationships are always beautiful and lively at the beginning but it comes to a certain stage that you find boring. Many couples are facing the challenges of a boring relationship. It's getting so boring that they feel the love is no more there. It's normal and humane for you to be bored of someone you're deeply in love with, you're so addicted that you're getting bored of your partner. Are you in a boring relationship? Spice it up! However, I've come up with a few simple tips you should try to spice up your boring relationship. **Express your love often** You may ask 'why to express our love often?' Yeah, it's so obvious you both love each other but expressing your love often will reassure your partner that you still love him/her. Expressing your love often will also strengthen your partner's trust in you and rekindle your love. **Try new things together** You're one of the couples that have never gone on a date with your partner, set dinner or lunch dates in your partner's favorite place and spend quality time with him/her. You've been going on dates with your partner but just within your vicinity, change your location and create more fun. You can also bring up some of your lovely memories. **Discuss your goals and dreams together** Everyone loves being in a relationship where they can freely discuss their goals and dreams with their partner. You can spice up your relationship by discussing your goals with your partner, it makes them feel special. Create a space for them in your dreams and watch out for the magic; it makes them feel loved and this can rekindle your love. **Prepare surprises for your partner** Imagine the happy look on your partner's face when you prepare a surprise for him or her, it's priceless, right? Yeah, that's right. It gives him/her a sense of belonging in your life. The excitement can take your relationship to a whole new level. **Prioritize your relationship** Place an important value on your relationship. Do not take it for granted. Invest your time and attention in your relationship. A little sacrifice wouldn't hurt; make sacrifices for your relationship. Create more attention and time for your partner and build it up. **Listen more, argue less** There will be many circumstances to have arguments with your partner but do not argue, instead just listen. Respect your partner by listening more to them than arguing. **Create yourselves space** Being in a relationship doesn't mean you should be around your partner 24/7. Give yourselves space and do not be too clingy. Spend some time alone doing other things; hanging out with your friends and having fun. In conclusion, every relationship has ups and downs. Be consistent and enjoy your relationship. Thanks for reading💓💓 Image source: Unsplash
