Lessons learned from Typhoon Ondoy & Yolanda
Typhoon Ondoy and Yolanda are two of the most powerful tropical cyclones that hit our country and, many people become affected by it. Many lives are taken by this natural disaster, many people got injured, and many families lost their shelters. From this experience, we will realize that life is very precious because every second of it is very important. We do not know when we will die, as well as we do not know how many sunrises we will encounter. Aside from that, we learned that we must care about our environment, stop abusing it, and let's start to care about our nature because every single thing matters. People must stop throwing garbage anywhere because it can cause a big problem when there is a flood. Also, instead of cutting trees, plant more trees as possible because it can reduce the flood. Always need to be prepared because these kinds of natural disasters are very dangerous and unstoppable.
Early evacuation can also help in this kind of situation. We always need to listen and follow the authorities for our safety. Don’t be so stubborn if the authorities announced that everyone needs to evacuate because they only care for everyone’s safety. Also, we need to prepare all the important things that we need, such as copies of personal documents, extra cash, extra batteries, flashlight, food, water, and many others that you will possibly need. Then to our government, they always need to be ready to respond to all the affected people. The rescuers always need to be prepared because this kind of natural disaster is unpredictable. They need to respond as soon as they can because time is very important in this kind of situation. Additionally, from this experience, we learned that sometimes we need other people to help us, and we can survive everything if we believe in God.
Pork Siomai Recipe
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb ground pork
3/4 cup onion (minced)
3/4 cup carrots (minced)
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
wonton or siomai wrapper
DIPPING SAUCE:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp lemon or calamansi
Procedures:
Combine all the ingredients together except the wrapper.
Wrap the meat in wanton wrapper by placing about 1 tbsp of meat in the center of the wrapper then press all the sides to the middle leaving an open space on top. (See pictures)
Place all the wrapped meat in the steamer.
Steam for 20-25 minutes.
Serve with dipping sauce.
Serve hot. Enjoy!
Potato Chips Recipe (Homemade)
Potato Chips Recipe
Ingredients:
1 kilo potato
1/4 kilo sweet potato (optional)
Iodized salt
Cooking oil
Cheese powder (optional)
Procedures:
1. Wash the potatoes in water. Ready the mixing bowl. Put the water in the bowl full/ put some iodized salt and stir until the solve dissolves.
2. Cut the potatoes after peeling them all. In every potatoes that you cut, soak it in the salty water and let it be there until you finished cutting all the potatoes. Cut the potatoes in very thin cut for it to be crunchy.
3. After cutting and soaking in the salty water, put or pour the very thin cut for it to be crunchy.
Stir slightly and slowly the potatoes in the pan while frying because it might stick on the pan if don’t. When the potatoes float and fried /cooked and crunchy, lift then with the use of tongs and strainer. Place it the container with a paper napkin
4. Do the same frying procedure with the remaining potaoes.
5. After frying, place it in the bowl and put the some cheese powder then shake it for the cheese powder to spread it all the potatoes.
Place in the paper bags and serve.
Dangers on the Internet (Part IV)
At the present time, as we observe the Internet today, it's obvious that it is really unsafe not only because of the dangers that I mentioned earlier but there are also additional factors and reasons. Internet is very useful to all people around the world especially to the students that it is very necessary because it can help them to search for some information’s for their education. If you have an Internet it is an advantage to others that didn’t have it. But sometimes it become a reason for a person to have a depression or a big problem because of what we called “Cyberbullying”. So first, what is Cyberbullying really is? This is a way of bullying through the use of digital devices like cellphones and computers. This can be done by texting, posting and, sharing negative content/ information about someone that can result to hurt or embarrass the victim.
It can happen in many ways through the used of social media, it can be on Facebook, Twitter, or in Instagram. The person that being bullied can experience anxiety, loneliness and depression. It can affect everyday lives that can lead the victim to worried and not to focus on what he/she is doing. In that case, it can result to the victim to commit suicide if he/she didn’t handle the pain or problems that he had.
Through the used of Internet, we can also experience cyber harassment, threatening and, many other dangers that can affect our whole life. This dangers are worldwide that’s why we need to be careful on using the Internet because it can cause severe damage to ourselves and even totally destruct our lives.
Dangers on the Internet (Part III)
Also, the Trojan Horse and the Computer Virus, these two are just like the previous dangers that I discussed because it is also very dangerous to our computers. It can also infect a device that results to have a poor or low performance of your computer. Once these viruses entered to your device it can manage your files, it can erase or corrupt it. It can transfer by the used of removable storage media devices that’s why the “Anti-Virus Apps” are very necessary. For this reason, we need to be careful because it can delete all the files that we done in just a second. As a student, I have a personal laptop that I can used in my home works, research, reports, and many kinds of paper works that I done for school. In my personal gadget I have important files that need to be saved, that’s why it’s a very big problem if my laptop had a virus, that’s why I installed an Avast (Anti- Virus App) for my own security and safety.
Behind all the dangers on the internet, there is one person that can manipulate and tolerate these kinds of threats, the “Hacker”. This person has the skills to gain unauthorized access to other people’s accounts or devices. Usually, a hacker commits different crimes through the use of his/her knowledge, they can steal passwords, usernames, credit card details, destroy reputations online and, get some confidential files that you have. The big question here is “why do people hack?”, I guess they hack because of their curiosity, want to gain profit, to have revenge or to destroy something or someone. But not all hackers are considered as bad, because we have hackers that just want to test or discover something to a network or apps, unlike the depraved one that has bad intentions.
Dangers on the Internet (Part II)
In like manner, we also have Pharming, just like phishing the main goal of this is to gain some confidential information’s to steal money from any accounts electronically. Pharming is a dangerous hacker attack that redirects the users from the authentic websites to the fake one. Using malicious sites, the pharmer have a chance to get your personal information’s if you enter it to that malicious website.
Let’s just be clear, it is important to realize the difference between Phishing and Pharming. Phishing starts with an email that asks the user to visit a website while the pharming starts in redirecting the users to a fictitious site. To prevent these two kinds of dangers it is very important to be sure about the websites that we used. Always check for the spelling and grammar errors of websites and you can also check the URL, aside from this there are many ways to find out if a website is the real one.
Then the Spyware, it’s all about secretly destroying your privacy because it can monitor your internet habits without your permission. It can watch your actions on how you used the internet, affect the performance of your computer and control or handle the activities on your computer. This unwanted software is a widespread threat in our Internet that installed covertly on a personal device/ computer. You cannot easily recognize that you have spyware in your computer because it runs quietly in the background to collect information. But there are ways to find out if your computer has spyware when your device is running slow and if you observe something different to your apps and files that you have. To prevent installing spyware, we need to have “Anti- Virus Apps” for our own security it will help us to detect and remove different kinds of computer viruses in our device.
In addition, we have a Computer worm this is a kind of malware that replicates and spread itself from one computer to another computer. It can cause many damages to a computer, it can delete files and can destroy network functions. For this reason, it is very important to be careful about this because it is very hard to have a worm in a computer. Computer worms can be got from different attachments from malicious sources, it is easy to spread out or to infect your computer that’s why just like in email spam and phishing, it is the best thing that when we receive different emails from unknown source don’t open it.

How safe is the internet in reality?
“Always THINK WISELY for your OWN SAFETY”
As I remember in the old days, the internet is invented to have “communication” or to easily “communicate” to other people around us, even in long distance. Using the internet, it is possible to have instant communication through emails/ chat, instant information through searching and, we can also use this in advertising businesses or different products. Internet have many positive uses in our lives, it makes our lives easier than before. That’s why we are very lucky to have it right now.
On the other hand, just like all things in this world “there’s always another side of the coin.” Nowadays, the Internet is considered one of the most dangerous places that we can experience. In simply sending emails and putting your personal information in different sites, how safe did you feel? Do you think you're still safe in using the internet? Maybe it’s already “yes” but it can be a “no.”
Many negative cases are occurred in using the internet just like cyberbullying, plagiarism, phishing, pharming and, harmful malware. It is very unsafe especially if you didn’t know what you are doing. It is very important to be aware in the cases like this, for you to prevent this kind of happenings to happen to you.
In my previous learning, I learned many kinds of dangers that we can encounter on the Internet and how to prevent this. These are the Email Spam, Phishing, Pharming, Spyware, Computer worms, Trojan horse and, Computer virus. First, the Email Spam that we can also called Junk mails. This is a kind of unsolicited messages/ emails that you didn’t know where it comes from it may carry different viruses such as a trojan horse that may affect your computer. To avoid it, do not open email spam or unknown messages and do not respond to any messages or links that you are not familiar to the sender unless you trust the source.
Next is Phishing, cybercrime that attempts to collect private information’s, just like passwords, usernames and, credit card details using reliable sources such as Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and other websites. It will try to deceive the recipient to believe that the emails are from a trustworthy site although it is not, then it will ask for your personal information’s. Some emails of this can make fake evidence such as links that the phisher also done to trick the users. Phishers do this to gain access to online accounts that the users have. Then they will use your personal information to steal money from your bank accounts, manipulate your reputation online, read your private emails and to change the password of your account. If you receive some emails that directing you to “sign in” or “log in” in a website from a link be careful because it can be an email from a phisher.

Kutsinta Recipe
Ingrediens:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups of water
1 tbsp annatto seeds (para sa kulay)
1 tsp lye water
2-3 tbsp powdered milk (optional)
Toppings:
Grated coconut / grated cheese /yema
Procedure:
1. Ihanda yung mga molders natin, pahiran natin ng onting oil yung molder para hindi tayo mahirapan magtanggal ng kutsinta natin mamaya. Then set aside muna natin yung molders.
2. Lalagyan natin ng 2 tbsp of water yung annatto seeds natin, haluin ito hanggang lumabas ang kulay.
3. Imix na natin yung ating mga ingredients, all purpose flour, brown sugar, water, then yung 2 tbsp ng water na pinaglagyan natin ng annatto seeds kanina, lye water at ang ating powdered milk kung meron man.
4. Ihanda na ang ating steamer, magpakulo muna ng 1 liter water at hintayin itong kumulo. Habang hinihintay ang pagkulo ng tubig ay ilagay na natin ang ating kutsinta mixture sa ating mga molders.
5. After na kumulo na ang tubig, ilagay na ang ating kutsinta at isteam ito ng 15 to 20 mins at wag kalimutang iwrap ng clean cloth yung takip ng ating steamer para hindi matuluan ng tubig ang ating kutsinta.
6. Tanggalin na sa molder ang ating kutsinta at ilagay na yung toppings na inihanda natin..
Pwede po ito pangmeryenda at pangnegosyo. Napakadaling gawin kaya try nyo na. ✨

Chocolate Moist Cake Recipe (without oven)
CHOCOLATE MOIST CAKE
(without oven)
Chocolate Cake Batter:
3 cups cake flour
1 1/2 cup White Sugar
2/3 Cup Vegetable oil
1 cup Cocoa powder
2 1/4 cups Water
2 large eggs
4 tsp Baking powder
2 tsp Coffee
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Vanilla
Chocolate Syrup
3/4 cup Cocoa powder
1 can Evaporated Milk 370 ml
1 1/4 cup White Sugar
3 tbsp Flour
1/2 cup Water
3 tbsp butter
1 tsp instant coffee
Toppings:
Chocolate kisses/Springkels (or any toppings na gusto nyo)
Procedure:
1. Salain muna yung mga dry ingredient para maiwasan magkaroon ng buo-buo. Unahin ang cake flour, then cocoa powder, nxt yung white sugar. Then imix lang lahat ng ingredients.
2. Ilagay na yung coffee powder, asin, baking powder, vanilla, vegetable oil, water, vegetable oil at eggs. I mix lang ng mabuti.
3. Next step ay ihahanda na natin yung paglalagyan ng ating mixture, ang ginamit ko sakin ay lanera. Lagyan muna natin ng lard yung lanera para madaling tanggalin yung cake natin after maluto. Kung walang lard, pwedeng pahiran ng oil yung bawat lanera at lagyan ng harina. Then pag okay na lahat, ilagay na natin yung mixture naten sa lanera.
4. Lagyan natin ng aluminum foil yung kada lanera para matakpan naten yung mixture. Then i steam na naten sya ng 40 mins.
5. Habang nakasalang yung chocolate moist cake natin, gagawin natin yung chocolate syrup. Paghahaluin lang natin lahat ng ingredients natin sa chocolate syrup, then paiinitan na natin sa kalan para dun na totally mamix ang ating mga ingredients.
6. Pag okay na yung cake natin, tanggalin na sa lanera at ilagay na sa microwave plastic container or sa iba nyo pang gustong paglagyan. Then lagyan na natin ng syrup don then lagyan ng toppings.

Creamy Gelatin Recipe
Creamy Gelatin Recipe:
Ingredients:
-1 pack gelatin powder (6 cups water per pack pero yung gatas na po yung ginawa kong pinakatubig nya)
-1 big can evaporated milk (2 cups na po equivalent neto)
- 4 cups water (tinimplahan ko po ito ng 2 packs ng bear brand, para maging milk)
-1/4 white sugar
Procedure:
1. Unahing pakuluin yung 4 cups of water, then pag kumukulo na, ilagay na yung 2 packs ng bear brand (pede din ibang brand ng gatas).
2. After na malusaw nung powdered milk, idagdag na yung 1 big can ng evaporated milk. Haluin lang ng haluin, hanggang mag mix sila totally. Then ilagay na yung 1/4 kilo na asukal.
3. Ilalagay na yung gelatin powder. Onti-onti lang lagay ng powder. Haluin lang ng haluin, para matunaw talaga yung gelatin. Basta konti konti lang lagay. Dapat hinahalo habang nilalagay yung powder. Then, pag tapos nang imix ng husto at na dissolved na totally yung gelatin powder. Kumuha ng pansala, salain lang ng isang beses, para matanggal yung mga buong gelatin kung meron mang nabuo.
4. Ilagay na sa mga lalagyan then hintayin nalang mabuo yung gelatin, choice mo na if gusto nyo pong lagyan ng grated cheese sa ibabaw.
