A Breakfast with Love Today is such a special Friday because my mom came to visit me at the apartment. She insisted on making me this wonderful, wonderful breakfast despite the fact that I should be the one making her a meal. She insisted on cooking all my favorite viands in one big plate, saying the ever famous mother’s line- “breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you should never miss it!” Lol! But I think she went overboard and did an overkill. Just look at this huge plate! Hahaha! I really appreciate it though. My mom was never the cook at home (it’s dad) but she tried her best to do this for me. 🥲 She made me garlic and chive fried rice, sunny-side-up egg, some homemade beef tapa (which I personally marinated and had in the freezer), and the star of the show- some dried squid which she brought with her from our house. Dried squid (“daing na pusit”) is my absolute favorite but I’ve never cooked it for myself here in the apartment because I was worried that my neighbors would complain about the smell. I only mentioned once to my mom that I missed it, and it was just in passing, so I never expected she would actually bring me some. It’s really different when you’re listening to someone you love, isn’t it? You remember even the tiny details, things that you’d miss if you were talking to someone else. This may be too big of a breakfast for me, but I definitely appreciate it. It didn’t only make my stomach full, but also my heart. Have a wonderful day ahead, everyone! #Food
