Imaginary life of Julsijuls: Ep. 010 "You need to have your first meal." The first thing I said is, "I need a job." She shook her head, and slides an empty bowl in front of me. And then it started making tinkling noises as cereals fill it, they look shiny and coated with caramel. Like popcorn, but cereal. "You need breakfast." She pours milk, and stops at the right amount she knows I'll like. The cereal looks like the same one my mother served me when i was in grade school. The food soaked but not floating; they're peeking at me. Like turtle shells, but yellow with bits of chocolate. She pours me an Americano, and the fog clears my head. My palms stopped sweating at the first bite of the milky breakfast. It tasted like days of childhood. Only there isn't a hand to wipe my chin when milk dribbled down. The old lady who owns the cafeteria, who served me a free meal and who loves to be a grandmother to me, watched as I dig in. "You needed breakfast." The worry dissipated, and is replaced by tens of thoughts of the cold milk and crunchy bits of food in my cheeks, making them round like a chipmunk's. And in my head, thoughts of how I could maybe survive another month without extra money in my bank account are also present. But the food takes over my problems. I nodded, looking up at her.
