Religious Harmony
Religious Harmony Religious harmony that is peaceful co-existence of all the citizens having different religious identity is badly needed for any nation's progression. But unfortunately religious disharmony and communal riots have a long list in the political history of the subcontinent; mainly after the partition of India and Pakistan on the basis of Two Nation Theory'. There had been widespread riots betwecn Hindus and Muslims in this region in 1948, 1962, 1965, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1993, and the very recent Gujarat carnage. It seems that religious fanaticism is on rampant among the inhabitants of the region. Not only in India it has also been shifted to Bangladesh. We experienced a widespread religious discontent between Hindus and Muslims in some parts of the country immediately after the October 1 general election. It had not been found in the country since the independence in 1971, both the Hindus and Muslims have been living peacefully together in Bangladesh. For the development and progress of a nation there is no alternative of peaceful coexistence of all its citizens irrespective of race, tribe, colour, religion and creed. Otherwise it is very difficult to pace with the progress for rest of the world. So religious harmony is a prerequisite to any advancement. Thanks for reading.
