You Are Not Your Thoughts This is going to be a timeout article from the previous articles I have published regarding my music endeavor. I am going to share with you the inner struggles I have encountered recently or even up to now. For weeks, I have been reading my notes every day to remind me of the things that should believe in. Last night, I listened to a podcast just to detach myself from the social media world. A time to reflect on how I spent 26 years in this world. **Here's** what I have realized so far: **Compete with the person of how you were yesterday.** We see the world as a competition. Whether we like it or not, we treat each other as competitors. I believe that is human nature to survive against others. But then again, some people have taken their advantages too much. It is no longer a fair and just competition. Others have abused their power, some took their authority in the wrong hand. It's frustrating but what can I do, as a mere middle-aged person, as much as I want change in this world, it's impossibly possible to achieve what I have in mind. And so, I go back to the basics. I'll only focus on myself and for me to keep getting better, I will compete against the person I was yesterday. That way, it'll give me a sense of healthy competition to see how far I should go. I try to look at myself with how I was yesterday. That's how I constantly resort and channel my energy to see the things I should change or improve to become a better person. **It's okay to not feel ourselves sometimes.** If you're someone who gets caught up with certain situations and it frustrates you, trust me, I'm with you. I mean, who wouldn't be though? There are days when you feel enthusiastic, very looking forward to the day, got plans to execute, but something happens and ruins your plans on that day? Imagine how frustrating that is. There are days when you feel like "***this is so not me***". You know in yourself that you can do better than that but it's just that, things are not falling into place. We're human, there will always be rainy days and sunny days. I watched a volleyball match yesterday and Alyssa Valdez had an off game last night. She was not the usual Alyssa we have known in court. She committed a lot of attack errors. And that's okay. It just proves that no matter how excellent you are in a certain aspect, some days are not just meant for you. You can't expect yourself to be perfect at all times. The thing about human experience is that we are too hard on ourselves that if things don't go our way, we immediately resent ourselves for it. No, it shouldn't be that way. Let's breathe in and reflect on how far we have become. Let's not forget that we should be proud of how we are as persons now. It's something to be always grateful for. **You** **can not control how people see you as a person.** Let's embrace the reality that people may misunderstand your energy. That means to say that sometimes, people have these thoughts about you that you don't know about creating chaos and causing misunderstanding because we lost the art of communication. This is not about us. What we do and who we are gets filtered by people. We can not control how they think of us. For as long as we keep our emotions intact, practice humanity and compassion, doing good deeds for other people, I don't think there is a need for us to change who we are. It's these people who are malicious and scandalous creating fabricated stories about us. However, if we let ourselves be stuck in a victim's mindset convincing us that people always misunderstand us, they have no compassion for us, they don't get me, they are talking about me, that's when we should open our eyes and realize that let's not take these comments personally. Learn to detach yourself from your thoughts to reality. Remember, those are only opinions. You know your truth. You don't need to explain yourself. Let's not box ourselves from those nasty comments because we won't able to thrive in difficult situations. Character development is what we needed. Most of the time, it's not about us. It's the people misunderstanding us. Let us not get caught up of how people perceive us. Some people even choose to misunderstand us and they don't deserve our explanation. **Lead image source** https://www.quora.com/Can-a-human-be-conscious-about-two-thoughts-at-the-same-time Thanks for reading.
