The wide universe of cryptocurrencies. *Greetings my dear friends, colleagues and readers of read.cash, this time I will step out of my comfort zone. The reason is that I noticed that my knowledge of the world of cryptocurrencies is very limited, and I know less and less about it. For this reason I decided to expand my knowledge on the subject, and to take advantage of the time I want to share with you what I am discovering. I know that many of you already have a wide knowledge about this, and that everything I mention you will already know beforehand, but in the same way it will serve with your comments and opinions to help me understand and complement any detail that I may have missed, "I count on you".*

Since with the use of Cryptography, advanced mathematics is used to provide greater security to our money, assuring us that no one else except ourselves can spend our cryptocurrencies. **Cryptography:** is the technique that deals with the encryption and encoding of data in order to make it intelligible to people and third parties for whom the message is not intended. This technique is used in art, technology and science to keep messages confidential. **Currency:** or monetary unit is a unit of exchange that facilitates the transfer of goods and services. It comes in the form of metal pieces, called coins -usually round-, or in the form of paper pieces, called banknotes or paper money. **What are cryptocurrencies?**  A cryptocurrency is something equivalent to digital money. With it you can pay for anything, like your drink at the bar, your clothes, your plane tickets, your hotel accommodation on your vacation. Besides that, as cryptocurrencies are digital money, you have the possibility to transfer them to your family and friends anywhere in the world.   We could easily think that it is similar to bank transfers, but in reality it is not. It is much better than that and more fascinating. We know that there are online payment bridges that provide this kind of service, such as "PayPal". But these types of organizations hold your money, and we are forced to request some transaction on your behalf if you wish to spend something.  With cryptocurrencies, there are no intermediaries, i.e. there is no organization behind. You, your family, friends or me, can be our own bank. This is made possible because your computer connects with other people's computers achieving a direct communication.

It will allow us to send and receive cryptocurrencies in a matter of minutes. There is no need to register in any website, or use our email or a password.  **Benefits of cryptocurrencies:** - **No restrictions**: absolutely no one can prevent you from using your cryptocurrencies whenever you want. Unlike centralized payment services that for any reason and without prior notice can freeze your accounts and prevent you from having access to your funds. - **Censorship resistant**: it is impossible for hackers to disable the network. Thanks to the structure in which it was designed. - **A fast and economical payment method**: when you make a transfer to anyone, wherever they are in the world, your cryptocurrencies will reach them in a matter of seconds, and you will pay much less than the cost of an international transfer, "literally a fraction of that commission". **The original cryptocurrency.**  I am 99% sure that everyone knows that the first cryptocurrency and the origin of it is the "Bitcoin". It made its first appearance back in 2008, when someone who went by the alias "Satoshi Nakamoto" published a 9-page document, detailing how the Bitcoin system works. Months later, in 2009, his software was released. To my surprise and that of many no one knows who "Satoshi Nakamoto" really is. There are many theories, some say it is a single person with a great wit, others say it is a group of organized programmers, or a secret team of some government; but there is also a very crazy theory that Satoshi is an alien.

Some of them are even based on the same software, while others took a different approach. In subsequent posts, I will continue to deepen and explore this great technology that revolutionized and changed perhaps forever the history of our world, creating a before and after. Dear readers, your opinions are very valuable to me, I will be very attentive to your comments. Thank you for investing your valuable time reading my post, best regards. **Disclaimer:** I would like to let you know that English is not my mother tongue, I may even make some mistakes in the elaboration of sentences in my posts.
