A Nightmare
It was on a Wednesday, that faithful day.... I got home from work stressed out and feeling feverish. I was very tired! I had a long day, one that was filled with so many disappointments. Maybe this was why my brain decided to mess with me, maybe not. One thing was clear, I needed to rest. So I did.
After about 5hours of sleeping my mind slipped into a deeper phase of sleep. It felt like it happened in the physical, but did it?
Wake up, my mind whispered..
that's weird. When was the last time you remembered to wake up, 😅
Well I did wake up io a strange environment. Although it felt normal, I still knew that something wasn't right deep down in me.
Well My eyes are open, I thought
But still I couldn't see any thing. I starred and starred but nothing..
While I struggled to see, something spike to me.... Haha it was me speaking to me😅😅
So I suddenly opened my eyes. But my lids flapped back together, so I supported it with my fingers until they were able to stand on their own.
Slowly I approached his location, but my body was still feeling awkward. I couldn't feel my feet and hands although I was using them
However my memory did not fail me, I quickly remembered leaving the lamp on the table, so I went for it.
Suddenly I felt a smooth object on the table. Then I continued my course on its body with my palms hoping to get the shape of the object....
Viola🥳 my lamp was right there!
Switched on, came with rays of light that quickly illuminated the environment.
I felt drunk, so I staggered as I approached her location.
However I managed to hold my self steady as I walked.
Chineye
I exclaimed.
What are you doing in my house?!
I asked.
I noe live here, she replied
Lived, I corrected with a weak voice.... Showing mild aggression and displeasure.
You married me remember?
My soul engulfed in pain and sorrows... I began to mourn automatically...
How on earth could I have married someone as obnoxious as you I muttered...
This can't be true I replied...
She began to explain how much I love her, she told me stories of how she had changed, and how this change inspired me to marry her.
At one moment, I began to believe her. But suddenly I developed doubts and bitterness.
My mind began to see the truth from her eyes like a seeker who could see the light in the darkest place.
My body started to move slowly, step by step I began to gain consciousness.
Then I tried to get up but felt pinned to my bed. So I began to struggle.
With the highest form of strength in me I jerked... And boom I opened my eyes into reality!!!
The joy of waking up overshadowed the pain from the severe headache that followed.
My heart was pounding and racing fast. It was as if it would jump out of my mouth😪
An Ex is always an Ex no mater how beautiful they may look... This makes na obnoxious Ex a nightmare to be with, in this life or the one after.
I thanked God, this wasn't in reality because I can't imagine how life would be, living with someone that you despise their behaviour.

so they ask a lot of questions and try a lot of things. They can even kill themselves just to satisfy their curiosity.

while training their kids, most of them use harsh measures to correct!
The scold the kid at every mistake made. They use strong language and rain abuses on this kids. They make them know that, they're fools and may not amount to anything in life.
When you tell your kids fat they are worthless, they start to think they are.
If you continue using the language on them, it sinks into their subconscious mind. Before long, they begin to understand that indeed they're useless.

Kendoron's Cave
Once upon a time, in a land of myth, there lived a young boy who found favour in the sight of a beautiful young maiden.
Their bond was forged through the forces of nature by the Guardians of the Universe itself.
The young man Named Ekene loved Ihunaya, so much so that beholding her beauty was enough food for the day.
But you know,
No experience in the earth is without Stumbling blocks, no path on earth is a bed of roses.
Chioma, Ihunaya's best friend had a severe crush on Ekene.
The attraction was so strong that she broke all rules of sisterhood and made moves, to take over the love of her friend's life.
One of such moves was her visit to the greatest native doctor of their time.
The sorcerer gave her a stone which had some mysterious ingredients..
According to him, when swallowed, Ekene would lose his love for Ihunaya, and this would give her time to strike and take over his love.
After several failed attempts, she succeeded in slipping the stone into Ekene's drink.
Few days later, something strange began to happen💔
Instead of loosing his love for Ihunaya, Ekene began to die slowly...
Why is this happening??
Well, the Oath of loyalty the love birds took was triggered into play.
Since Ekene was about to loose his love for his angel, the forces of the universe had to honour the Oath by Snuffing life out of him with every atom of love lost!
In search for a cure, Ihunaya had to undertake a journey into The Forest of Love, in search of a drop of water from a pond located in a mysterious and magical cave...
The Kendoron's Cave!!
On getting to the cave she faced a lot of challenges. Starting with a Water spirit called Malai. Malai insisted on getting a blood sacrifice before she would grant Ihunaya safe passage into the cave. Perplexed by the situation, ihunaya broke down in tears, she cried and sang in the process. The melody from her over song, was so harmonious that it melted the strong here of the mermaid.
This was the first time in history, where Malai, agreed to change the rules for a mortal.
Safe passage was granted and the poor lady entered the cave.
She acquired the drop of water she came for, and took off to her village where the love of her life was dying slowly.
On her way home other forces appeared in the evil forest. One of them was a baby beast, which demanded for the drop of water the maiden had just acquired.
But Ihunaya bluntly refused! To settle this dispute, a duel had to be made.
The competition came as a dancing competition.
Ihunaya had to defeat the spirit dancer in a tournament, else forfeit the drop of water she had.
This dance lasted for 2hrs, fortunately, she won!!
However this victory did not come easy, the gods had to intervene by possessing her and upgrading her skills.
At last, the Maiden reached her village to her love, who is almost grasping for his last breath.
She reached out for his mouth and dropped the water into it.
Although it seemed as if he didn't make it for the first 30min, he finally took a deep breath and opened his eye 1hr later.
Due to the awful experience, both parties decided to break the covenant they took.
With the covenant broken, there was nothing else to hold any of them in the relationship, other than True love, Sacrifice and Trust!
As for Chioma, she has been banished for her actions by the village elders and the ruling King.
Moral lessons:
Never take an Oath that involves blood, yea this may sound superstitious, but don't forget the medical implication of this!! You may get infected by a virus in the process!
Be contented with what you have, and don't poke nose into the affairs if your friends, the banishment of Chioma came as a result of her bad actions.

Perseverance and patients both works hand in hand. They draw their relevance from the ability of an individual to stand firm during unpleasant times.
Many expect a straight path to success, Naive individuals are notorious for this.
Unfortunately what we get 80% of the time is the direct opposite of what we had hoped for.
Events that were designed to be successful in theory, mostly end in failures. This is usually due to external forces, beyond our direct control, which work independently in the universe.
Practicality, requires persistence.
Persistence is needed during trying times.
When all is lost, something is always there hidden, but can be found, it is hope!
Keep your focus and hope firm!
The path to success is not straight! Its rough and only the strongest survive. But if the fit takes it all, what will the weak do?
It is a thug of war!
Analysing the worse case scenario is a quality I have and used to achieve great feet in life.
With it, I have control over my expectations, and life indirectly.
When bad things happen in my life, they don't discourage me because I must have anticipated their occurrence before hand, and thus made plans on how to mitigate its effect on me.
Anyone who follows this approach will not have anything to worry about. The approach can be tweaked, but the basic principle should be maintained.
Don't give up, Try again
The earths revolution around the sun was just completed few days ago, another started immediately.
I said something to my friend,
I had complained to my very good friend on the 31st day of December 2020, about not making enough money for the year as planned....
All he did at the stroke of midnight was to encourage me, saying ; we would make it this time so we have to try again this year✊
With a new year, every day becomes a new opportunity, and those who see this can harness it, for their progress!!
We must try again, he said.
I love him for that gift, because I know its worth and I value it a lot.

Many had a lot of plans that failed, a lot of hopes were crushed in 2020, a lot of goals didn't work out as planned. But,
TRY AGAIN.
A lot of misfortune befell man this year, lots of life were lost, to the pandemic. I lost an uncle this year too. People lost their jobs and could barely eat, earth became hell.
In all, we remained as one! The humanity we all share helped us fight this evil as a people.
Medical researchers were able to figure a solution to the virus out in a very short period of time. The front line health workers also showed their relentless spirit to help those in pain, at the expense of their lives. Yes we lost a couple of Health practitioners along the line, yes we lost millions of lives, but we proved that we are not completely defenseless.
Judging from the medieval times and comparing both the past as the present, one will see that there is significant improvement in science and technology, and this has made us ahead of most problems nature throws at us. Yes we are still vulnerable and under the creator, but for the greater part, we are stronger than never!
If not for anything else, your alive! And that I believe is something good that happened to you in the year 2020.
I believe that if you sit down and reflect, you will find other goodies that came through your path in the said year.
Life is an indication of hope, a sign that all is not lost. A dead man is no good to anyone, even himself. But one with life, is capable of doing things that the mind can only imagine.
If you reflect, and count your blessings, you will realise what the lord has done for you. And this will give you motivations to work in this new year.
Persist, try again, and have hope because this is not a year to take lightly. We must not go gentle.
Every dream carried over into 2021 will be achieved!!
Avoid laziness, procrastination and anger. Avoid every negative emotion, and embrace positivity...

Cutaneous Mycoses
Dermatophytes are keratinophylic fungi which invade and attack the keratin rich areas of the body. These areas include the hair skin and nail. Dermatophytes have an enzyme known as keratinase. This is responsible for the enzymatic digestion of the keratin rich epidermis, nail and hair.
A group of organisms that belong to 3 genera make up this class. They include
Genus Microsporon with example as Microsporon audvuini.
Genus Epidermophyton : e.g E. floccossum.
Genus Trichophyton: e.g T. rubrum.
Infections caused by dermatophytes are generally referred to as Cutaneous Mycoses. This disease are named after the regions of the body they infect.
Tinea coporis – body
Tinea capitis – Scalp
Tinea barbae – beard
Tinea Cruris – groin
Tinea pedis – foot.
Tinea is a Greek word that stands for worm. This name was given to the disease because their lesions have a worm like appearance, in a ring form.
General Pathophysiology
The disease starts with the inoculation of the fungal element i.e the spores and hyphae, through an infected formite, or hair comb.
The rate of spread of the infection is accerlerated if a person gets infected in a family that shares personal belongings, this is seen in developing nations due to poor economic condition.
Zoophilic forms of the fungi can be transferred from pet animals like dogs as in Trichopyton canis, to humans through direct contact. These zoophilic species are naturally predominant in the soil from where they make contact with the animals.
However for an infection to be established adequate amount of the pathogen have to invade the broken skin of the victim. If the skin with other mechanisms of the inate immunity is intact, an infection will not be established.
There are predisposing factors that increase the risk of infection.
They include,
Diabetes mellitus
Poor hygiene
Peripheral circulatory disorders
Humidity between folds of skin in chubby individuals.
As a rule, arthropophylic fungi rarely cause an inflammatory lesion. They don’t stimulate the immune system so there is no allergic reaction associated with them. However dermatophycoses due to zoophilic fungal organism induce immune reactions and cause an inflammatory lesion.
Diagnosis
Sample collection:
Hair samples: infected hair is cut with tweezers into a kraft paper and transported to the laboratory.
Skin samples: Scrapings from the outer border of the skin at the ringlike lessions of the disease is collected into a sterile kraft paper. Sample from the borders are preferred to that from the center because the latter is often made up of dead organisms. These organisms die due to accumulation of waste and nutrient depreciation as a result of high completion.
Nails: nail is cut wit surgical blades into a clean kraft paper for examination.
Treatment with KOH follows. Depending on the thickness of the specimen, 10 -20% KOH/NaOH is used to digest the sample on a clean grease free slide under mild flaming.
Direct Microscopy follows. Fungal elements like arthrospores (macro-conidia) and hyphae that are greenish in color is looked out for, when spotted a preliminary diagnosis is made.
For further studies and specie differentiation, culture of the sample is carried out.
Specimen is buried into a sabouroud dextrose agar. In addition to the nutrients in this media, some other substances are added to inhibit the growth of saprophytic fungi (cyclo-hexamide). A broad spectrum antibiotic, chloramphenicol is also used to ensure the absence of unwanted bacterial growth on the media.
This will ensure that only the fungi of interest is allowed to grow on the media. it takes about 3weeks for fungal growth to occur.
Treatment is with antifungal drugs, like griseofulvin taken orally according to prescription. Clotrimazole can also be used against the disease. It is mixed with body lotions and cream then applied topically on the lesion.
Mycoses
Pathogens are organisms that have the ability to cause disease in man. These organisms are often microscopic and can only be seen under the microscope.
Virulence is a metric used to measure the disease causing ability of a microbe. The the degree of pathogenicity is known as Virulence.
Mycology is the study of fungi of medical importance.
There are lots of organism that are classified as fungi, however mycoses is a study restricted to the disease causing fungi.
Fungi in general are non motile. They can not move from one place to another, without the aud of an external agent like wind, water or man.
There are two types of fungi
First, Unicellular fungi e.g Yeast
Then Multicellular Fungi e.g Mould
The commonest form of fungi in the immediate environment is mushrooms. Some of this is edible and is used by many to prepare different kinds of food, like soup.
Although this organism is edible, not all are. Poisonous mushrooms do exist. Care should be taken to avoid their consumption.
Mycoses can be divided into 2 based of the site of primary infection
1.Onycomycosis: (fungal infection of the nail )
2.Dermatomycosis: (infection of the skin)
Most of them (fungi), are Saprophytes. Saprophytes are organisms that live on decaying organic matter. Its activities such as feeding, excretion etc bring about the composition of this matter. Humans get infected when an individual gets wounded, by. a prick of stick or by any other sharp object in the soul. The direct contact between the broken skin and the soul containing this saprophytes, will initiate the infection.
Some of them are parasitic nature. As a parasite, they invade the body of their host organism, evade its immune system and get established in a niche where it lives at the detriment of the host. Some of the disease causing fungi falls under this category.
Fungal infection is serious but often overlooked medical condition that can kill. Poor enlightenment has left many in the dark. Self medication has also played a crucial role in this.
Tinea versicolor, a disease caused by malassezia fufur is the commonest form of fungal infection. Its clinical presentation is a lesion, characterised by brown patches in a mosaic form in the skin.
Those who have the disease don't experience any severe clinical symptom because it is a none inflammatory lesion.
The ones who visit the hospital do that for aesthetic reasons.
The types of mycoses includes;
Superficial Mycoses: this results when a fungus or group of fungi infect the outermost part of the skin (hair and nails).
The stratum corneum is the primary site of infection. Examples includes Tinea versicolor, Tinea nigra, black and white piedra.
Cutaneous mycoses:
fungal infection with lesions at the cutaneous area of the epidermis of the skin. Examples include: Microsporum spp. , Epidermiphyton spp. Trichophyton spp.
SubCutaneous Mycoses: this infection occurs at the deeper layer of the skin, the Dermis. Examples: Chromoblastomycoses, mycetoma, sporotrichosis.
Systemic Mycoses: when fungal elements break the skin barrier to infect the blood and the internal organs. Examples: Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis.
opportunistic mycoses is suffered by immunocompromised patients, organisms like Candida Albicans, aspergillus and molds, cause serious and life-threatening systemic infection.
Dermatophytes

***Dermatophytes*** is the name given to a group of 3 different fungal Genus that contain organisms which infect the cutaneous layer of the skin to cause a fungal disease known as ***Cutaneous mycoses***
They include;

***Epidermophyton***
***Trichophyton***
The basis of identification of these fungal spores of organisms under ***the Fungi imperfecti*** are their micro and macro spores, but with dermatophytes, which belong to the conidiospores we use the macroconidia because the micro is missing in one of the genus; the Epidermophyton.
**Characteristics features of these dermatophytes**
**Microsporon:** these organisms have a size of 20 cells, they are egg shaped and pointed at both ends, their surface is rough and thick!
E.g: *Microsporum audvuini*
***Epidermophyton:*** size is 3 cells, in a macroconidia pointed at one end and blunt sat the other resembling a pear or club.
The surface is smooth and thin!
E.g: *Epidermophyton floccusum*.
***Trichophyton:*** size is around 10cells, it's blunt at both ends like a cigarette bar and it's surface is thin and smooth!
E.g: *Trichophyton rubrum*
