As I continue my journey through the museum, I would like to show you the following exhibits. These are the skeletons of two elephants that were found in the Stavropol Territory. By the way, they also have names: Arkhip and Nyusya. For a moment excursion - in our region so far two skeletons have been discovered, one almost the same is in Paris! So...let's continue! Two finds - complete skeletons of two southern elephants of excellent preservation - shocked the whole world. Surprisingly, they were of different sexes: this allowed scientists to most accurately form the image of ancient animals. The first skeleton of the southern archidyscodon elephant was discovered in 1960 in the Georgievsky district. It was found in the delta of a river that once flowed into the Caspian Sea. The remains of the elephant were in sandy soil, therefore they were preserved as much as possible. For more than a million years, only the limbs were damaged and the right tusk was missing. At that time, it was the fourth skeleton of an ancient animal found in the world. Scientists were delighted with the find: the preservation of the remains of an elephant made it possible to study them in detail. The second skeleton was found already in 2007 in the Tverdov gully not far from the Novotroitsk reservoir. He was also in the sand of the bottom of an ancient river. Scientists have discovered that the remains belonged to a female. This elephant died at a younger age than the first. Some of the bones were damaged and had to be restored. Both elephants are exhibited in full growth in the large hall of the Stavropol Museum. Everyone can come there and admire the real giants of the ancient world. In total, more than a hundred places were recorded in the Stavropol Territory, where the remains of southern elephants were found. Most of them are in the south, center and northwest of the region. It is worth noting that the northeastern regions of the Stavropol Territory are still poorly studied by archaeologists, so what else the region will surprise the world with is anyone's guess. And I picked up the music about Stavropol! All the same, after all, I live quite close to such a powerful and beautiful city, which I am very happy about !!! Good for all!!! © CryptoGuru
