Dracaena or Cape of Good Hope Plant - This is a common succulent shrub that can be found almost anywhere in my country. But this Dracaena, also known as the Cape of Good Hope Plant, has special meaning for me because it reminds me of a special time and memory I shared with my grandfather. My grandfather planted the Dracaena plant for me and my younger brother at our parents' house when we were kids and assigned us to take care of it by watering it before and after school and competing to see whose plant would flower first. But it never gave us a flower and instead grew to a height of 5 - 7 meters. We witnessed its first flower bloom with a mild fragrance 15 years later, after we had all graduated from our university. This is my grandfather's trick for teaching us to learn and be more in tune with nature and discipline. I discovered that our Dracaena did not produce any flowers because we gave them too much water, so our Dracaena grew tall instead. And it began to flower because no one looked after it because I and my younger brother were all away from home and busy with our studies. This Dracaena was split into several trunks and taken from the original plant at my parents' house. I planted the trunks around my property and garden to remember my grandfather and younger brother who died. Do you have any plants and flowers that associate with your loved ones? I wish you all a wonderful Monday and the rest of your week.
