My “unsung heroes”. Even I am living in developing country of Thailand but in term of public health care policy is not that bad whether normal circumstances or the pandemic. I used to live a miserable hectic life in Bangkok before but decided to relocate to a small town 6 years ago. The quality of living is well improved significantly since then. I can live life not surrounded with concrete jungles of traffic and pollution. Even it is not well equipped with fancy infrastructures but fancy things are not far out of my reach. During the pandemic of Covid-19 and normal situation, there are approximately 1 million village health volunteers around Thailand that work to help guard their fellow citizen to keep safe from all kind of disease. Each volunteer receives 1000 Thai Baht or approx. USD 32 with additional extra of 500 Thai Baht during the pandemic of Covid-19. I myself get used to their regular call and knock door visit especially during the new cluster outbreak nearby my home. They will call and revisit me daily basis even I am a low risk profile of Covid-19. The village health volunteers are considered a key part of primary health care in Thailand as they have worked alongside the medical professionals and have helped protect communities from any long familiar disease throughout their seasonal cycles during the past 4 decades. The village health volunteer in my country in one of all hard working teams that fight guard the community during the Covid-19. They are truly my “unsung heroes”.
