A Small Step
When I was on my sixth grade, I joined a Science quiz bee representing my school together with a fifth grade.
Our coaches/science teachers thought that there will be two participants in each school, however changes were made when we arrived at the venue. Ends up having one participant in each school only, and basically neither one of the coaches wants to give up the role.
So we did a toss coin and I won the toss coin thingy. It's my first time representing my school for such category, so basically I was nervous to the extent.
During the easy and average round, I did handle it very well and I was confident with my answers. However, when difficult round came, I didn't happen to read such information about the questions being asked.
When the contest ended, it was still good. I got the fourth place and my coach genuinely congratulated me. She said that it was really okay.
The other coach was so disappointed, she even said that only if her student represented the school, that particular student would bring home the beacon.
I was hurt so bad during that time and it caused trauma to myself. Not being boastful, but I really excel at school. So when teachers are having a picked on whom to choose as a participant with certain areas, I am always one of the choices. However, I always end up saying no, or much worse, doesn't even try too hard cause my mindset was set with the trauma I've encountered.
Now, I am on my last year in high school, and I wanna set aside my trauma. I want to also try again. I want to feel that excitement with the nervousness you'll feel when you are in a contest. I don't want that excitement to fade just because of how I fear joining a contest.
My adviser picked me as a participant in our classroom for an English cup. The category is reading, and I am hoping that it will be good to me. Together with perseverance and faith to God.
Maybe, it is really a small step. However, I am a hundred percent sure that it will help me conquer this trauma. Trauma of having self doubt with myself. Trauma of how would people react if I can't meet their expectation. So many doubts, but I have to do this. And I must do this.
A little step that will make all the difference.
How Do You Set Your Mindset
Do you often think before saying anything?
Or you often don't think before saying anything?
Mostly, people can't be stopped from saying something. As human nature likes, people are beings who want to be heard.
How about, your words will hurt someone? Or in the worst case, got someone in a trauma?
I want to share some of my interactions with these kind of people.
When someone is new in a line, everyone should know that he/she is just a beginner. So basically, he/she can't do everything in that line excellently.
I was exhilarated by the thought of playing mobile legend, so I installed it. I am literally a newbie. However, it's just not nice to say that I am still a weakling. Instead of saying so, why don't you just teach me how to play the game well?
You keep on saying things that can hurt me, when in fact, you didn't even contributed for myself to be good at playing.
Also, I have this friend who is kind of boastful.
He keeps on commending his self to the point that he drags people down.
Words are words. But will really cause a huge blow in someone's soul.
You? How do you set your mindset?
Is it set being selfish? Or being selfless? Judgmental or rational?
Set it for the betterment of everyone.
Education Become Toxic
While mostly all industries are devastated with how the pandemic affected their businesses, jobs, livelihoods, and health.
Education were also shaken because of the pandemic we still are combating.
In the midst of pandemic, face to face classes are stopped and the Department of Education used mixed mode of learning.
Modular, online, radio and television learning were utilized to still keep the students studies despite the pandemic.
Department of Education are doing their best to give quality education even though it was hard for the students to cope up.
However, while students are hardly coping up with the "new normal" way of schooling, lessons became more and more standardized.
While hardly coping with the modular, lots of activities are given in the module and were needed to use gadgets to be able to understand the lessons.
Competent students were sleepless. Most of the students are just copying the answers of their classmates without knowing what their classmates been through, while their classmates can't say no to them.
Earlier, with this kind of learning, news about students committing suicide increased.
Their reasons were, they don't have stable internet connection so they didn't passed their pt's before the deadline, they can't the stress anymore, professors were so strict and etc.
Nowadays, education became really toxic. Students can't easily grasped the lessons, they will just re-search it. Lessons are standardized making most students become so stressful.
With this kind of learning, can students really learn? With this standardized way, can they be molded for their future? Or it will make them ruined their being?
Because as for my experience, it did became toxic for me. I can't easily grasped the lesson because it was so hard to understand. I am fortunate because I can re-search most of the words or concepts that is hard to understood. But, what about other students who do not have resources?
Last school year, I don't have my own resources. To be honest, I did cry a lot during those times. I can't barrow a cellphone to my elder sister, for she's also using it. That is why, education really became toxic for me.
Many are struggling, but I hope they are eager to overcome it. Many wants to stop studying, may God guide them and blessed them to not give up.
Reality is reality. Somehow, I hope reality can be change with ideal things, where we are studying genuinely and learning truly.
Conscience Racking and Inferiority Complex in "The Penthouse: War in Life" series
Did you already watch the k-drama entitled The Penthouse: War in Life? If you haven't watched it yet, I suggest add it on your own list.
***The Penthouse: War in Life*** is a South Korean television series starring Kim So-yeon (as Cheon Seo-jin and is married to Ha Yoon-cheol and they have a daughter namely Ha Eun-byul), Lee Ji-ah (as Shim Su Ryeon and is married to Joo Dan-tae, she has 4 child and only one of them is her biological child), Eugene (Oh Yoon-hee's character in the series, she has a child namely Bae Ro-na) Um Ki-joon (plays the role of Joo Dan-tae, he is a wealthy character molded by his bad deeds. He has two children namely Joo Seok-kyung and Joo Seok-hoon) Yoon Jong-hoon (Ha Yoon-cheol, he is the husband of Cheon Seo-jin) and Park Eun-seok (plays the character of Logal Lee in the series).
The series, directed by Joo Dong-min and written by Kim Soon-ok, spins the story of a real estate and education war, a desire to be number one. It depicts the solidarity and revenge of women who turned to evilness to protect themselves and their children. It premiered on SBS TV on October 26, 2020.
Penthouse tells the story of wealthy families living in Hera Palace and their children at Cheong-ah Arts School**.** Shim Su-ryeon (Lee Ji-ah) is an elegant, wealthy woman who has a tragic past. Her husband is Joo Dan-tae (Uhm Ki-joon), a successful businessman. She later learns that he is hiding a secret from her. Her husband killed her lover and replace her daughter with another child (baby switching is quite a problem).
How do we protect our loved ones? Do we really need to do wicked things just to protect them? Will they be happy if they will know it? Cuz eventually, you can't hold a secret. It will surely be discovered one day.
Upon protecting your loved ones, you shouldn't do wicked things for it will literally back fire on you. Your loved ones will not be happy too. You'll just make them believe that it's okay to crampled someone's dignity and they'll definitely live in that line of living. Wherein, they no longer knows how does it feel to have conscience and doesn't know how to differentiate what's right and wrong. Cuz you planted a wrong beliefs in their mind. That everything they do is right cuz they are highly recognized people in the community. I hope, an event like this doesn't happen in reality. Cuz it will really be too sad.
This series also tells a lot about inferiority complex. The American Psychological Association (APA) defines an inferiority complex as “a basic feeling of inadequacy and insecurity, deriving from actual or imagined physical or psychological deficiency.”
Insecurities will lead you to do evil things just to satisfy your wants. The desire to go up, above the person you feel insecure of. The funny thing is, no matter what you do to make yourself feel more powerful than that person, you will not succeed. Since you are imprisoned to that mindset of yours, wherein you don't want to focus on your own growth instead you keep on comparing yourself and get yourself hurt by that person you feel insecurity. You are making yourself go too low with that mindset of yours. You are creating your own fantasy and is avoiding your reality. By that, your living will surely be crampled as well.
Additionally, the season 1 of the series ends with a cliff-hanger wherein Shim Sur-yeon which died in the previous episode of Season 1, can be seen walking in the penthouse of Hera Palace. It will make you feel excited to the core.
I will also write an article about the season 2 after I'll finished watching it. 😊
