I always thought China walked a very thin smart line economically until this action...on the other hand if you have a gov crypto on blockchain you have all the control and I think this is all about control

  Indeed, but still, to promote some and not let others, to not enable exchange, ... Regulation would be a better way than criminalisation.

    In a Free society yes...in an oppressed society.....they are doing the logical thing...increasing their power....instead of seeing uncontrollable wealth grow.
