1983, BugByte and a miner With 1983 subscribers just around the corner I already celebrated. True, a bit early - it's sometimes difficult to catch the exact number and my celebration needed a bit of preparation. My path as a computer enthusiast, later programmer, professional, started in 1982, when sir Ian Sinclair put a strange object with a rainbow printed on it on the shelves of then 'special' stores. The ZX Spectrum 48K soon became a hit and people around the globe started their jurney into the world of computers and so did I. The learning process took time but it defined me and I'm glad it did. It's true, the 1980's brought a whole lot of new stuff, that transformed the world we live in today. The TV became cable/satelite so we all started to recieve Mtv and it changed popular culture forever (and died in the 1990's). The cold war was at it's peak, it was the golden age of scifi and horror, boobs in comedy films, a full blown sexual revolution. Back to my celebration. I installed the Spectrum emulator to my Nintendo DS Lite and uploaded the game that I spent countless hours playing: BugByte's 1983 hit Manic Miner. And yes, I intentionally skipped 1982. Orwell would why, it's just the decade he was off. 2022 would be a more precise ... I'll just leave it at that. Thank you all for making this possible.
