The bulky waste solution You know what they say: One man's waste is another man's treasure. I live in an urban environment and waste/trash/junk collection is a problem that arises. The country I live in, Slovenia, has these things quite under control. The system of separately collecting and disposing of and presumably recycling waste is well organised. I wrote 'presumably' quite intentionally there as there were quite some affairs connected to the business of recycling in the past years and it was shown that a lot of separately collected materials were disposed or burned together. But that's material for another post I guess. Still such a system does not cover the disposal of large objects like furniture, appliances, ... and that is solved by you bringing the separated waste to the city dump directly. The disposal os f sensible amounts for a household are free. The problem still is that not everyone can afford the loading and transport as it can get quite costly to order all that. The blocks then organise a collection of bulky waste once or twice a year with shared costs and everyone can bring their things. And now I must return to the begining. One man's waste is another man's treasure. As people bring everything, from chandeliers to whole furniture, bicycles, toys, printers, old TVs, ... anything, it's a freebie for all. Recycling at it's best. Use and reuse. Use and rework. The rest is then picked up, loaded and transported to the city dump. #BulkyWaste #waste #recycling #environment #RandomThoughts
