While object of 19th century novelist is to create memorable characters,to point a moral or to adorn a table, the modern writer's chief concern is to find out exactly what people are like to record his discoveries. His purpose is psychological research, he wants to get all that there is in any individual and in conducting his researches he discovers, what ofcourse is obvious that human beings are not simple ,far less simple in fact than the characters in Victorian novels. Well defined characters in victorian age were either good or bad. Even if the good and bad characters were mixed up in certain characters, they could be classified under distict catagories. While the purpose of modern novelist is to present the life as it is. The sole aim of modern novelist is to get the objective truth and to analyze the motives of the characters. Modern novelists represent life with alss his complexities. Relations between man and woman is also analyzed from purely factual angle of vision. In short theodern novel is short, complex,an realistic while the victorian novel was simple and straightforward at the cast of reality.
