Ep.2.2 - The crypto "earning while learning" model Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ The first article written about this was quite generic and did include only a small theoretical example, this time I want to bring something real to show you how things are changing and how crypto will lead the way for a new approach to learning. **The beginning of changes** The crypto world is not exactly easy to approach from the learning point of view, often the theories are based on mathematical concepts that are not so common and people struggled in the past to keep up with all the new projects and their visions. The environment needed something that could make clear for the newcomers what they did and a way to capture their attention, without burning so many resources. A good marketing formula someone could say. The first tipping point I noticed in this context was Earn.com, and its easy-to-understand business model. Instead of navigating on your own in the cryptocurrency space and learn random pieces of information written by "influencers" or bloggers, they offered crypto in exchange for you accepting new knowledge about that specific coin. Doing so the website had an educational focus but was also solving the giant marketing issue because understanding more the way the cryptocurrency works is beneficial for the whole environment and will most likely invite you to invest at a certain point into the future. In the worst case, you'll be aware of what's going on and when things will reach big media you'll be more equipped to understand what they say. From the financial point of view is something that works when the crypto offered is building something meaningful in the environment and has good principles, without those two basics is not worth the shot. Single projects could stop being worried about explaining blockchain (*and cryptocurrencies concept, security, wallets, etc*) every single time and they could send clear messages knowing that their users were going to be educated by Earn.com. With this approach, they were also distributing their coins to push their connection with the existing community, so a win-win situation. Is it a surprise that the website has been acquired by Coinbase? I don't think so. Coinbase had access to a lot of tokens and needed to educate people to get access to their pockets, absorbing Earn.com was part of the growth process as an organism. Now you can open a Coinbase account and get your first coins without moving money and it's just the beginning.  *Do you know* *read.cash**?* *You should.* https://read.cash/r/GordonBen **Airdrops are doing the same thing** Maybe the airdrops are not so clean and concise like the Coinbase Earn stories, with nice questions and images, but they have a very similar focus. You're rewarded for supporting the marketing of the coin/token because they ask for your info and to repost, tag or comment things, but at the same time is also forced learning. You'll visit their website, read a few words and if you're interested a page or two. This will in a way or the other push you to know that they exist, the business card is represented by the reward that will stay with you as long as you want.   *Looking for a modern and secure search engine?* ***Try Presearch*** *and earn PRE while experimenting the future of search* *🔎* https://presearch.org/signup?rid=2330957 https://emojipedia.org/magnifying-glass-tilted-right/   **What's next?**  Well, for sure the reward for video consumption will skyrocket, but don't expect a crazy amount of rewards for that. The "stories" approach works better and chunks the knowledge enough to be absorbed without overloading a person with information, while video tends to be longer and require more attention. But something will pop up, I guess an academy. I have some ideas that could lead to something but for now, I'm not going to expose myself too much. I believe also that gaming will play a huge role in crypto adoption and also in diffusing the knowledge about how things work. From this point of view, I'm a huge fan of visual learning.   Thanks for the attention and the time taken to read this article 😇 https://emojipedia.org/smiling-face-with-halo/ Please feel free to comment with your opinions, thoughts and whatever comes up to your mind. Ep. 7 - More about the types of innovation Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Today we'll go deeper into the science of innovation and discover the other 3 quadrants of the matrix introduced the previous time. I'm talking about:   **Why it is important to examine all of them?** Because it's just a matter of time and field, but all those forms happen and in the crypto industry you can spectate all of them daily since it's a field with a very high rate of innovation at the moment and a lot of active projects. **Let's start with a basic one: the incremental** It follows an incremental model and can be seen in a lot of systems every day under your eyes because is the most common and also the way to proceed when your architecture is built and you want just tune some things and align with environment changes over time. Can be defined as: A succession of very small upgrades or improvements that an administrator makes to its system. Usually released at regular intervals. Your browser receives incremental innovation very often and you can see it from the release number, most of the time you don't even notice the changes because are not visible or very small. With the current state of the web, incremental innovation is almost invisible and constant connection makes it smooth. Source https://opensource.janestreet.com/assets/incremental/incremental_stacked-618d8456f9ab2d11f85f3d41fa85a9c20ee8fc347a80f3bced3be6cd00e91e01.png **Changing one piece: modular innovation** This is referred to the innovation where only a piece of the system is changed, but not the way the piece interacts with the other pieces of the system. It's like changing the wheel of a bike to improve the weight and performances, but don't change the way it spins and interacts with the other components. It is usually done to make focused changes. Can be defined as: The complete redesign of (some) core components, while leaving linkages between the components unchanged. As been discussed a lot in the past when the "phonebloks" came out due to the power that could have on the market: the possibility to have always the same system and choose which components improve over time to specialize your system in a way or another. Unfortunately, never scaled in the mobile phone market. Source https://www.cined.com/content/uploads/2016/04/craftcamera_1-1300x750.jpg **And the beast: the radical innovation (also known as disruptive)** It's usually the one that takes the most time to develop and energies, but is also the ones that excite the most: a radical innovation is an incredible improvement in the whole system and usually means that the entire system is replaced with a new one that fits much better the final goal (or vision) compared to the previous one. This improvement is usually considered 10x in technology, but cannot be defined since must be contextualized. Source https://www.businessmagazinegainesville.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Radical-Innovation-Disrupt-or-Die_teaser810w.jpg Can be defined as: A new configuration of the system, that could include new components, architectures and modules, and delivers an outstanding superior output compared to the previous system configuration. It is probably the most discussed type of innovation nowadays because of startups: behind a fast-growing company, there is always disruptive innovations. It could be in the technology, in the way it approaches the market, from the financing point of view and so on. Ep.6 - What is a structural innovation Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Today we'll talk about the science of innovation and what we mean using the words "*architectural innovation*". It is a topic that came up to my mind while reading about Eth 2.0 and confirming my initial impressions about the potential of the network: there is a lot to build and a lot of knowledge to be shared. Let's begin with a small step. While building systems, we have to take a lot of decisions about the structure of the system itself and usually, this is based on a lot of factors like the purpose, the use, the possibility for scaling and the conditions of the environment where it will be placed. We could go on for a while, but you got what I mean. Based on the context where it will be used, the system can be or not flexible and this will determine how much of the system will be available for changes over time, knowing that engineers (mostly) will add new structures to the preexisting work and things will get more complex over time. Source http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3rsv71 This leads to the creation of the philosophy of the structure and how to deal with it over time, a topic that before the year 2000 (more or less) was not discussed much outside the industrial production.  **Why?**  The industry was usually selling material goods and most of them could not be considered systems so none needed to think about this concept. Now it's different because the digital age brought the possibility to buy an object (physical or not) and also his connection to the system, that today can be easily considered the most important aspect following the functionality of the object. Because now we want to use it and also be sure to improve its usability over time, not diminish it. **What is this "architectural innovation"?** It's the innovation related to the infrastructure of the systems and is usually done very carefully because it will affect the past and the future of the system with a lot of unpredictable outcomes. Not everything can be simulated. Let me include also a formal definition for being extremely clear: An innovation that creates an improvement in the ways in which components, at least some of which may not in themselves be innovative, are put together. Source https://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803095422277 And is one of the four type of innovation we deal with while improving a product, you can see the matrix below to understand better how we think about the change: **With crypto, it's all about it**  With cryptocurrency, we mainly discuss the basic principles behind the projects and the IT structure that will adopt, one of the most important predictors of the projects (for now) because we want to know how things could develop into the future since at the beginning we can't predict a lot. It's a new micro-universe and a lot of things are not so predetermined and we can't believe the claims coming from founders or IT teams. None before has checked them multiple times, so for sure there is risk and also the estimation of the risk is risky. In this context we want to know how things are going to work and also over time, how we can modify an entire branch of the system (so renovating the architecture) to improve the overall performance and fix things left behind while building other pieces.     Thanks for the attention and the time taken to read this article 😇 https://emojipedia.org/smiling-face-with-halo/ Please feel free to comment with your opinions, thoughts and whatever comes up to your mind. Ep.4.1 - The link between crypto and direct democracy Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Today **I was thinking a lot about communities** since I had to work with this concept for a project, and I am just mesmerized by the evolutions made throughout the year and how powerful a group of people on the internet could be, especially if concentrated on a specified project. Among the first uses of the internet, there were telecommunications of course, but it took a while before a bunch of random folks could get together in a website exchanging opinion on a topic and taking the decision as a group. **Nowadays, we brought this concept to crazy levels** and people from different timezones can plan, coordinate and execute together actions as a group or community like never before. The crypto pumps from Telegram (*coming from 4chan and not*) are just an example. Taking **this concept into cryptocurrencies** was obvious since the first coins creations, but the amount of power given to the community does not have so many previous cases and is going to impact a lot more than expected the whole humanity. In the product industry, we created not much time ago the word "*prosumers*" to indicate consumers contributing so much in the product development to be considered part of the teams, but we never gave the power to the users to contribute forever in the future of the product, it was time-defined and related to a specific moment of the product development. **So, what are doing communities in the cryptocurrencies world? 🌐** The phenomena could be considered **one of the first attempt to build models for direct democracy** and see how it goes, before implementing it in real context and avoid a lot of dangerous situation that could affect the lives of millions of people. **More than one cryptocurrency is experimenting already** with the power of community and I red bold statements about founders that want to leave all the power of decisions to the coin holders, to see how the community can react and shape the future of the coin without being always in the room. And they are not wrong, we can't expect to build a company behind each coin and have teams managing the vision every time. There will be a moment when the community will take over and the distribution of the token will make it possible to avoid scams and dangers. If we can demonstrate to be able to manage properly the future of a single project as a community, **this could be the first block** toward a new way of taking decisions in the future and maybe this generation will not be there when the results will matter but has to build his contribute without any doubt. Tons of variable could affect the final result, but a single success can seriously make the difference.  **There are pro and cons of course**, but this is a good move toward the future to eliminate forever a lot of dangerous aspects of the current democracy and create a better society. With the actual system, corruption is seriously hard to tackle and people can be threatened a lot, while in the future will be much harder to threaten a distributed system and also understand how to manipulate it for a personal purpose. The number of issues generated by people will be reduced and all the systems could be connected to avoid frauds, documents' manipulation and guarantee much more transparency. Was not a surprise to see candidates for the 2020 US presidential elections coming from the crypto world and willing to apply blockchain technology to the public administration. I'll keep thinking about this and come back with new reasoning on politics and public administration, I think there is a lot more to dig into. 📚     Thanks for the attention and the time taken to read this article 😇 https://emojipedia.org/smiling-face-with-halo/ Please feel free to comment with your opinions, thoughts and whatever comes up to your mind. Ep.3.1 - About hyperloop and blockchain Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Today we'll cover one of the most exciting topics about the future of transportation: **the hyperloop**. But what is exactly? By definition, coming from Wikipedia, is a "*proposed mode of passenger and freight transportation, first used to describe an open-source vactrain design released by a joint team from Tesla and SpaceX."* and can be seen as a capsule that travels in a tube under pressure with very low friction. Has been widely recognized as a potentially disruptive innovation in the world of transportation for the high-speed limit, slightly over 1'200 km/h theoretically, and the cost/mile currently estimated between 60 and 80MLN$. Let me include some pictures (mix of real and renders) to give you something visual: While writing this article I was focusing on the Hyperloop future coin, but I realized it made no sense. The real core of this reasoning is the value that blockchain has in the whole innovation process: without it, the concept would not make sense at all. All the hyperloop's MVPs available today are heavily based on automation and without a new technology such as blockchain none of them would make sense because the tech required behind would be way too expensive, slow and easily outdated. Based on what Bibop (also known as Gabriele Bibop Gresta) made public a few years ago, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, the first-ever registered trademark about hyperloop, is entirely based on automation, from the tech philosophy to the implementation. And is also the key aspect that will produce business viability since will mostly impact area such has pricing and user experience, two of the most important factors in transportation in customers behaviours. **Good words for now, but how?👨‍💻👩‍💻** A level of automation so deep, as guaranteed from the blockchain, will give the possibility to create smart systems able to mix a lot more variable from the environment and use them properly without human intervention and impact the price of tickets almost in real-time *(if not in real-time at all but I honestly doubt it will be made at the beginning of the tech development).* If on Monday we are generating too much CO2 and we can't go over a certain limit because our world will not be able to absorb it, the pricing will reflect also that. But let's focus on the change of user experience of the travel, what I consider the real game-changer. Based always on what Bibop stated, the hyperloop technology and companies are going to be able to **eliminate 8 out of 10 steps necessary before going to the airport**, always using the power of blockchain and also using smart algorithms that will identify people and match their personas with predicted necessary services, thus making the travel way easier from the mental point of view and letting people and goods moving easier, cheaper and faster. Could sound somehow creepy, but the data will be stored using always blockchain so the privacy security would be seriously reduced if not destroyed at all, at least from what he states. I don't have a precise opinion yet and I won't digress on this point during this article. **Hyperloop coin?****🥇** Only rumors, for now not much is real but the HTT company already protected the name. This move was probably made to avoid potential scams and marketing tricks as usual, but also to prevent other people from stealing the name and create something while the company is not ready. They will most likely use it, even if in the beginning the payment systems will accept other crypto for sure, and we hope that is going to be governed by great rules aligned with the technology purpose. https://emojipedia.org/1st-place-medal/ **Thinking bigger****🚄** I don't stop my positive thinking to hyperloop itself. The whole ecosystem will be based upon automation and will empower a lot of new innovation, from the materials used for the capsule to the material used for binaries, gates, seats and so on. Apparently, the HTT is already innovating something like 14 fields all together like it happened for the launch of Apollo 11. https://emojipedia.org/high-speed-train/   Thanks for the attention and the time taken to read this article 😇 https://emojipedia.org/smiling-face-with-halo/ Please feel free to comment with your opinions, thoughts and whatever comes up to your mind. Ep.2.1 - How blockchain and cryptocurrency will change learning forever   Welcome back to a new episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Today I'm going to talk a little about the incredible power of blockchain in the learning environment and how the current financial applications, such as cryptocurrencies, are going to disrupt our understanding forever. To make things easier I made up a small story that includes common everyday elements. What comes after these words are pure hypothesis, nothing is real and it's just something that came up to my mind so don't take anything for granted.   **The idea 💡** Let's imagine I'm a professor making a course about "*the power of blockchain in learning environments*" and this is not part of a normal plan of studies, maybe is something you can add to your study plan and there is a small fee. This fee is 100$, nothing big but is necessary to understand who's seriously interested in undertaking the course and avoid overcrowded rooms (in post-corona conditions). The professor can handle a proper learning experience **only to 200 students for each course** and since is a small commitment, he can handle **up to 4** different courses, for **a total of 800 students.** This means that on day 1, right before starting the first class of the first course, the professor was able to gather 80'000$. He decides to invest them in low-risk funds that could give him back interests in a short period, and time is equal to the course length, in this case, let's say **4 months**. While attending the courses, student's will have daily tests, mid-terms and a final exam. All their performances together will create the final grade and together with it a performance index, the result of an algorithm that intakes a set of data with their performances over assignments and shows how they were doing during the course. At the end of the exams, if scored over the minimum threshold, the students are going to receive back a slice of the fee of the course based on their performances. If they were interested in the subject, they will score well and receive back a lot that could be invested in another course, while if they didn't it's not going to be so high. **What has to do with blockchain and crypto?** **⛓️**  https://emojipedia.org/chains/ Well, all the operations mentioned before will not need human intervention at all once everything is settled, it will be only a matter of smart contracts. No human-error, no time wasted of someone to take care of all those automated operations and most importantly, everything will be extremely scalable. Students will pay through a link that will do automatically everything, including moving the money to the right accounts or swap the currency if needed, and when the course will end the professor will need a few clicks to make the payments. The main advantage of this approach is the reduced financial exposure of students during their studies and once established the capacities of the professor, the rooms and performances, could pay entirely or partially the professor and be used as a financial mechanism from educational entities. Also, the data coming from the different tests and the overall performance index could be used for the degree/studies plan certification at the end of the student career. It's something that is already on its way in some of the most technologically advanced universities and this could be a small block added to make things easier from the administrative point of view.  Maybe a special token will be necessary to optimize the performances in the long run, but the concept is there and could be most likely built on top of already existing blockchain-enabled for smart contracts. Potentially for the MVP but also for the first applications to see how it scales and work. **Potential context of application** **📚**  https://emojipedia.org/books/ The first thing that comes up to my mind is universities and professional learning centres, a place where people have to pay for education. But also schools with optional course with external teachers, online platforms offering MOOCs and so on. With the proper amount of students, the time variable can become not fixed and will make things even easier. **Some final notes** **✍️** https://emojipedia.org/writing-hand/ Of course, this is not a new concept, is already used as a marketing tool in some cases and someone already made a hypothesis about it maybe, but the automation coming from smart contracts and the possibility to invest and earn passive income while offering liquidity should not be undervalued. The absence of human error and wasting of time coming from the possibility to use smart contract could make the difference and also the use of data should be taken into account. The difference is in the final purpose: *allow passionate students to reduce their financial exposition and reuse the same money for improving education.*   Thanks for the attention and the time taken to read this article 😇 https://emojipedia.org/smiling-face-with-halo/ Please feel free to comment with your opinions, thoughts and whatever comes up to your mind. Ep.1 - Cardano (ADA) goes for open innovation Welcome to the first episode of Cryptoworld, the article-based series about blockchain implementations in the current world 🌎 https://emojipedia.org/earth-globe-americas/ Cardano (ADA) is one of the most discussed cryptocurrencies in the current crypto landscape due to its potential and how could bring a lot of fresh air with his platform. This is something quite clear to the community that follows the updates and based on their understanding, keeps pushing for adding new implementations, but the team behind Cardano is limited and cannot handle all the requests and their future needs of maintenance. So, **what's a potential solution** to handle this giant flow of energy and make it useful and not dispersive for the Cardano project?  **Use an open innovation paradigm** and let the community, together with a dedicated team from the company, discuss a lot of different solutions and together with this, a lot of ways to test them and see which will be included in the main roadmap. Without an open approach like this, would be almost impossible to manage all the development and take decisions based on the company vision. Let's use an image to see it visually: Of course, this methodology is not new and has a successful track of records: has been widely used inside Google (*even knowing their giant external community they have the employee community enough big to support it internally*) to create new functions for the Chrome browser and a lot of others IT giants use it on a daily basis. It usually starts with a lot of proposals, filtered by: the effort needed for the implementation the effort needed for the maintenance the utility perceived by users the possibility to create testable MVPs and a series of personalized criteria based on the company vision.
