Everybody loves a blue sky especially when I'm on a beach, it is a good sky with mostly floating white clouds forming different shapes like white smooth cotton. It gives us a reassuring sight that guarantees clear weather and sunny days.
**However, what in the world does an Ube (purple) sky mean?**
I saw this picture passing by in my Facebook account and to my surprise, this is the first time in my knowledge that a purple sky exists. The common sky's I just witness in my entire life was just dark sky, blue sky, and red sky during sunset.
However, for the others, it is not rare to spot purple skies during nightfalls or in the mornings. They said that sometimes they even appear after hurricanes or typhoons.
Moreover, we need to understand first why the sky is blue before we learn why the sky is purple.
As we know, the light is white, however when you arrange it through a prism, there you see all the various colored light waves in the spectrum such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
It was said that the light travels in waves, occasionally in short distance ones and other times in long lines with lots of heights.
Light will cross in a straight line unless something gets in its way, just like with the prism or molecules in our atmosphere.
The gaseous particles in the atmosphere scatter light, though, since blue travels on shorter with smaller waves, it results in charged particles to move faster, scattering extra light.
The result is that we see more blue than we do red because blue gives particles worked up more than the other colors. Our eyes are also a bit more sensitive to blue light, which helps a lot to recognize these colors.
We don't know that violet color is always there, but we don't detect it as well as we do blue. So blue gains a victory in the light wave battle for our eyes. However, the right conditions have to be met for the purple color, to be visible in our eyes.
It's a matter of where the sun is coming in at a particular angle for some cases. Several of those colors that get blocked out by blue, like yellow, red, and orange, happen a lot during sunrises and sunsets.

First Time Growing Grape Fruit | Only Backyard Farming

Grapes can be cultivated in the Philippines. This has been ascertained by some places such as Arevalo, Iloilo, La Union, and Cebu where since 1950 they have been growing grapes.

Infer the normal posture, direction, and size of the flower buds of the plant to estimate the suitable spots for pruning. Observe this when the vine has grown up to an ample year and the fruiting twigs are colored brownish.
Fruiting twigs should have different normal buds and mature leaves. Prune only some mature and those that are slow-growing branches and then use a sharp pruning shear a size inch above a bud.

Fresh buds will bloom two weeks after pruning. Table grape species grow flower bundles between the third and the seventh node of the new shoot. However, in the flower cluster that fails to appear in the seventh node, these shoots are unproductive.
Remove flower or fruit bundles that deter the growth of the large fruits. This should be done on flower clusters before the flower has bloomed.

Story of Success
Who would have thought that just a former bus conductor on the Monumento to Baclaran road would now be a successful owner of luxury car rentals in America?

Pinoy Engineer won P3.5 Million in an international contest using his bamboo house design, Filipinos are really amazing when it comes to different fields.
There is no denying that we can keep up with other races. This is what a Pinoy Engineer proved when he gave honor to our country after taking the grand prize to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors ’(RICS) for his“ Cubo ”design. A 23-year-old engineer Earl Patrick Forlales graduated from Ateneo de Manila.
Of the 1,200 entries worldwide, Forlales won and took home £ 50,000 or P3.5 million. "Cubo", is what Forlales called the design he made because the material used here is bamboo and it can be made in just four hours.
It is estimated that the total cost of its construction will be only P3,000. "CUBO started as nothing more than an idea, conceived while spending time at my grandparents' house - it is incredible to think that it will now become a reality," Forlales said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
“It’s a functional home on its own, but it’s more than just a house. It’s design to turn community waste into energy and other vulnerable resources, ”the young man said.
"As it releases 35% more oxygen than tress and can be harvested annually without causing degradation," he added.
For Forlales, what he did is also one of the possible solutions of our government for the continued increase in the number of informal settlers in Manila and to provide them with a better place to live.
"With the Government's Build Build Program there will be more construction workers coming into the city… We want our workers who are producing our high-rise multi-storey level buildings to have dignified housing of their own," Forlales said.
Even RICS competition president John Hughes was amazed at Forlales' design.
"The world's cities are growing all the time and there is a real need to make sure they are safe, clean and comfortable places to live for future generations," Hughes said in an online video interview with ABS-CBN.
"There were many exciting, original designs among the submissions, however Earl's idea stood out for its simple, yet well thought through solution to the world's growing slum problem," he added.
Forlales plans to build 10,000 units, before the year 2023 enters. He also said that he intends to build a prototype model that he can show to potential investors, so he is allocating the money he won for it.

Planting Mangrove
A man gave these photos of another man age of 65-year-old who planted hundreds of mangroves to protect his home from the big waves brought by typhoons. Typically the eastern portion of the Philippine that regularly visited by stronger typhoons.
The man just visited a nearby beach when he found the mangrove plantation of Tatay Gary the owner last October 25, 2020.
"The previous batches of mangroves were five years old, the others were only two years and one year old, not all of them were planted at the same time because the seedlings were just picked up on the shore," Tatay Garry said.
Tatay Gary resides in Barangay Punong Matalom in Leyte and their home is located near the shoreline. "Father Gary said, he was encouraged to plant after typhoon Yolanda.
Yolanda is a very destructive super typhoon that visited the Philippines especially Tacloban that killed countless people.
Because the wind and waves in the sea are quite strong, due to the destruction of their hut, ”he narrated.
Apart from playing an important role in the marine ecosystem, mangroves also protect coastal communities from deadly storms, tsunamis, and strong winds.
"That's why he planted mangroves so that the wind did not directly hit their hut, as well as the strong waves," he added.

It was said to be that quaker parakeets are prohibited in someplace. The social parrot’s with its talking ability and intelligence rivals the African grey and Amazon parrot that is much more expensive.
The color of this kind had Blue or Green. The size is small with a lifespan of up to 30 years in proper care. Pretty high mortality than any other pets. It has vocal communicators with the highest social interactions and won’t easily lose the bond to their owners if they are included in family life and given love and care.
The quaker parakeet is a unique species. The most distinctive behavioral feature of the quaker parakeet comes from its namesake-the quaking and shaking. It looks quite abnormal to look at this bird while it bob and quake, but it is actually a natural behavior. They are well known to start talking while they are relatively young.
The quaker parrot also called quaker parakeet together with monk parakeet/parrot is native to South America. They are the most popular parrots of its size with the lowest cost, and superb mimicking ability. In addition, it can build its own nest that is quite massive.
This cute and smart 12-inch bird set up large wild colonies from Florida, they become charming addition to the landscape of those areas, even some consider them pests and have outlawed them.
Although I do not have my own Quaker, in captivity it was known that they are avid chewers, and can destroy things or furniture. To avoid this please provide them with lots of chewable toys and safe branches to get rid of the boredom and unhappiness.
The Quakers are a silent bird! So do not think twice to bring one in your house. Sometimes they will wake up the solid sleeper and may disturb neighbors but on the positive side, these birds are wonderful talkers, able to learn many words and phrases, highly trainable, and can learn tricks when properly motivated by food and some praised.

Actually “Parrot” is well known and now you think of the classic movies that show colorful green bird sits on a pirate’s shoulder.
Parrots are not a single species but an entire order of birds called Psittaciformes includes parrots, amazons, cockatoos, lorikeets, lories, macaws, and parakeets.
There are 372 species of parrot around the globe some are captive and some are wild.
It was spectacular, so here some of the species:
1. Senegal parrot (Poicephalus senegalus)
The Senegal parrot is a breed found in a wide range of west Africa. The fruit, seeds, and blossoms make up its diet. It is considered a farm pest in Africa, often feeding on maize or millet.
2. Orange-bellied parrot (Neophema chrysogaster)
The orange-bellied parrot is endemic to southern Australia, and one of only three species of parrot that migrate. A small parrot around 20 cm long, it exhibits sexual dimorphism.
3. Hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)
The hyacinth macaw is native to central and eastern South America with a length of about one meter and longer than any other species.
4. Major Mitchell's cockatoo (Lophochroa leadbeateri)
Also known as Leadbeater's cockatoo or the pink cockatoo. A medium-sized cockatoo restricted to inland Australia. Can be seen regularly in South-East Queensland's subtropical region.
5. Pesquet's parrot (Psittrichas fulgidus)
Also known as the Dracula parrot or as the vulturine parrot. This member of the genus belongs to the subfamily Psittrichadinae and endemic to the hill and montane rainforest in New Guinea.
6 Rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri)
The rose-ringed parakeet, also known as the ring-necked parakeet. A medium-sized parrot in the genus Psittacula (palm cockatoo).
7. Papuan lorikeet (Charmosyna papou)
Also known as Stella's lorikeet and Mount-Goliath lorikeet. It is found in New Guinea. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
8. Kakapo (Strigops habroptilus)
Also called owl parrot, is a species of large, flightless, nocturnal, ground-dwelling parrot of the super-family Strigopoidea. This is endemic to New Zealand and has finely blotched yellow-green plumage. They had a distinct facial disc, a large grey beak, short legs, large feet, and short wings and tail.
9. Mindanano Racket-tail Parrot (Prioniturus)
The genus "Prioniturus" (saw-tailed tail) has nine parrot species found in the Philippines or Indonesia. Our little buddy belongs to this species:

Racket-tailed parrots are famous from all other parrots by their elongated central tail feathers with the bare shaft and spatula at the end.
The feathers are green with more or less blue or red highlights. Also, the adult parrots size is average 30 cm in length.
Natural diet:
Their natural diet is consists of some fruits that are available in our backyard (such as banana, guavas, corn, rice, and berries), or nuts and seeds. They are also seen feeding in cornfields, where they can cause considerable damage to the crops. Some considered them as pests because of this.
In captivity, they should be provided with various fruits (such as banana, grapes, apple, cactus figs, elder, and rowan berries), but I preferred bananas only since we are abundant in this in our land. Lory food, safflower seed mixes, paddy rice, wheat, hemp, canary grass, various millets, and sunflower seed (also sprouted) can do as well.
You may give also some cooked rice; half-ripened maize; rose hips; and twice-weekly egg food and hard-boiled egg, which is important during the breeding season. For some people, it is an advantage if you have a chicken or duck farm.
