Philosophy can be very simply defined as the science that takes care of the sharpness of concepts. Namely, a good concept is one that clearly and distinctly delimits the meaning. With a well-functioning concept, it is clear what falls under its auspices and what does not. In the case we have just considered, a well-functioning notion of free will is one in which we can clearly distinguish between events in which free will is involved and those in which it is not.
