Beat Production: Types Of Beats For Music Production In my last few articles whereas I talked about beat creation, I mentioned some types of beats and I'll give a more distinct understanding about them in this article. Let's take a recap. In my earlier posts I defined Beats "***As the rhythmic movement or speed at which a sound is played***". In this I also mentioned some types of beats as well so let's get a look at them. 1: **Rock Backbeat** The Rock Backbeat is the founding platform of all other beats. It can be easily defined by an example from the early days of Rock and Roll music. The Backbeats are the "2 and 4", just like when you're counting 1,2,3,4. The Backbeat is where the snare drum hits. This type of beat is usually a Downbeat as to where the audience claps along or tap their foot to the floor. This beat is present in Blues, Rock, R&B, Country, Folk, Gospel etc...... The first Backbeat rythms go back to centuries and is traditionally from *"****Djembe Drumming"*** from the western part of Africa. 2: **Techno Beats** Techno is a genre of EDM(Electronic Dance Music) that is characterised by a repetitive and hard ***Four On the Floor*** beat, which is usually produced for the use in a DJ set. This beat can be used as Dance, Disco, House or even pop beat, mostly depending on the beat pattern. The tempo of the techno beat varies between 120-150 BPM. Music producers use electronic instruments such as sequencers, drum machines or synthesizers to make this type of beat. This type of beat was first originated in the early 1980's in Germany. Following the UK release of "***Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit***" in 1988. The term came to be associated with a form of EDM produced in Detroit. The music produced in the mid 1980's by the Belleville three along with Eddie Fowlkes, James Pennington and others is seen as the first wave of techno from Detroit. 3: **Reggaeton/Dembow** Reggaeton or Dembow is a musical rhythm that originated from Jamaica. In 1990 when Shabba Ranks released "DemBow" , it did not take long for the Dembow genre to form. This type of beat takes the driving kick of the techno beat, slows it down and replaces the Backbeat with syncopated hits and ghost notes on the snare. You can hear the Dembow beat on many EDM's and pop songs. The main elements of Dembow music is it's rhythm, which is somewhat a reminisce of raggaeton and dancehall music, but with a more constant rhythm; ryhtms and melodies in Dembow tends to be simple and repetitive. 4: **Dancehall** Dancehall is a genre of Popular Jamaican Music that was made known in the late 1970's. Dancehall was a more sparse version of raggae, which had dominated much of the 1970's. Major elements of Dancehall are the use of electronic instruments like the electronic keyboard, the drum machine and the use of riddims(Jamaican pronunciation of Rhythm), to which lyrics are added resulting in an unusual process of making music from very seperate components. Dancehall has a very old history linked with the Jamaicans in the 1970's especially. Dancehall saw initial mainstream success in Jamaica in the 1980's and by the late 1990's it became increasingly popular in Jamaica diaspora communities. 5: **Drum And Bass** DnB is a genre of EDM usually characterised by fast breakbeats that are usually around 170-190 BPM, with heavy basslines and sub-basslines, synthesizers and samples. The genre was made popular in the UK's Jungle scene in the early 1990's. DnB is dominated by a relatively small group of record labels. Major international music labels had very little interest in DnB until BMG Rights Management acquired RAM on February of 2016. Ever since then, the genre has a significant growth in exposure. The roots and origin of DnB is in the UK, with other fanbase located in the US, South Africa, Canada etc...... I would be writing more about these type of beats in the next article, seeing more depths of music production.

Reasons Why You Are Always Tired ***"Fatigue or Tiredness"*** is normally caused by the lack of sleep or rest, or can happen when one is sick or coming down with a cold or flu. Fatigue can also be caused by underlying health factors too. Though I'm sure we all feel tired from time to time, chronic fatigue can harm our physical and mental health which can stop us from doing alot of things we normally enjoy. Some of the reasons why one is always fatigue are: 1: **Not Enough Quality Time Sleep/Rest** Good quality sleep is essential for everyone's health but unfortunately, most of us don't get enough rest which may likely lead to fatigue. When you sleep, your body performs alot of very crucial processes including the repair and growth of hormones and the regeneration of cells. This is a reason why people feel energized and refreshed when they wake up from a good quality time sleep Importantly, sleep should be undisturbed and uninterrupted so as to allow your brain to relax and your body to re-energize quickly. Yes, sleep time should be individualized buy according to the SRS(Sleep Research Society) they recommend that an adult should have at least 7 hours of sleep time every night for optimal good health. You may know the importance of having good sleep, but some people are facing struggle of falling and staying asleep. ***Insomnia*** is a condition where as a person finds it very difficult to fall and stay asleep. This condition can be caused by many factors such as: Psychology Stress, Menopause, Excessive Mental Stimulation and Poor Sleeping Environment. If you're experiencing Insomnia, treatments like natural supplements and medications, and management of underlying medical conditions may help. Also, visit a medical professional for better treatment and care. 2: **Nutrients Deficiency** Not taking the right nutrients may make you feel tired even if you have taken 7 hours of good sleep. Some Deficiencies in these nutrients have been linked with Fatigue, they include: Iron Vitamin B3(Niacin) Vitamin B5(Pantothenic Acid) Vitamin B6(Pyridoxine) Vitamin D Vitamin C Magnesium Deficiencies in many of these nutrients are very common. Anemia a condition which occurs when a low amount of red blood cells circulate in the body, affects 25% of the world's population. Iron deficiency anemia is the most common which is responsible for 50% of all anemia and fatigue is one of its common symptoms. 3**: Dietary Balancing** To maintain energy and get the nutrients your body needs to perform critical processes, it's important to consume a balanced diet meal that is high in nutrient dense foods. Eating ultra processed foods that are low in essential nutrients can lead to calorie and nutrients deficiency, which can cause tiredness or fatigue. When you don't get enough calories and nutrients like protein, your body starts breaking down fats and muscle just so it can meet energy demands. This leads to a loss of body fat and muscle mass, which may trigger fatigue. Adults, mostly the elderly ones are especially at risk of malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies due to factors like age related changes in appetite and reduction in physical activities. Diets high in Ultra-processed Foods impair energy levels. An example is, a diet high in added sugar may harm sleep and lead to chronically high blood sugar levels, which can lead to exhaustion. Following a diet low in Ultra-processed Foods and added sugar but also rich in nutrient dense foods such as fruits, vegetables and protein like fish and eggs, may help reduce tiredness and support healthy sleep while providing your body with optimal nutrition. 4: **Consuming Too Much Caffeine** Caffeinated beverage like coffee and energy drinks gives you a temporary boost of energy, but over reliance on them may lead you to more tiredness the next day. This is because too much caffeine can harm sleep and will cause fatigue later on. Research shows that feeling tired in the morning leads people to consume alot of caffeine, which impairs your sleeps cycle. In turn you may overuse coffee or other caffeinated drinks for energy, which continues the cycle of poor sleep followed by too much Caffeine. If you're currently experiencing sleep issues and frequently drink caffeinated beverages, try reducing its intake or cut back to see whether it helps to improve your sleep and energy levels. 5: **Inadequate Hydration/Dehydration** Dehydration occurs when you do not take enough water to replace the liquids lost in your urine, stools, sweat and breath. Studies have shown that being dehydrated can cause lower energy levels and a decreased ability to concentrate. Dehydration also makes you feel more tired during exercise and negatively affect your exercise endurance. Some common symptoms of dehydration includes: thirst, fatigue, dizziness, inability to focus and headaches. 6: **Overweight** Being overweight or having an obesity greatly increases your chances of obstructive sleep apnea which is a very common cause of daytime fatigue. It's also linked to increased daytime sleepiness regardless of sleep apnea, suggesting that obesity directly affects the sleep cycle. Also, poor sleep quality may cause weight gain or obesity. Maintaining a good and healthy body weight may support sleep and energy levels, while getting high quality sleep can help prevent weight gain and overall reduce in fatigue. 6: **Drugs and Alcohol Consumption/Dependency** People who are dependent on drugs or alcohol are more likely to experience fatigue especially when they are taken in excess. Many possible factors cause chronic fatigue, such as medical conditions, nutrients deficiency, sleep disturbances, caffeine intake and stress If you're experiencing fatigue that is not quite explainable it's very important to seek the help of a medical professional to find the cause. In several cases, your tiredness should diminish once you can identify the cause and make appropriate lifestyle and dietetics adjustments and also to get the right treatments for the condition.

How Has Your Week Been? Thank God it's Friday, I'm just happy I'll finally get to rest after a very stressful week. We can all agree that out of all the days in the week, Friday is always the most stressful because we all want to get everything done and settled before the short period of break which is Saturday and Sunday. For me this week was more of "Work, work and even more work". I've been reading for School test's and also preparing for an exam that will come immediately after the test so I've not even have anytime to rest cause there's alot to cover, they did say the university isn't a playground. I've also been trying to create time for my side job, just to get some little income to at least pay for some minor things and I'll tell you that it's very stressful to be working 5hours a day on a PC reviewing letters and forms. Surprises also came for me this week too so there's actually a good side in it at least. One of them was that a close friend of mine got an admission into the university and that made me very happy, another was that I met a old friend of mine while I was going to school, it's been a while since we last saw each other and I was very surprised to see her after a very long time. The week is ending and I can at least get some premium shut-eye, I'll sleep like a new born baby. I hope your week wasn't as exhausting as mine though and also, remember to always stay positive.

Beat Production: Understanding Lo-fi Sounds And Music There's a genre of music that helps you as the listener in concentrating on your work, keeps you relaxed and helps you maintain a positive flow while working. Whether you need to focus while doing a task like studying, or need relaxation after an unvarying day, Lo-Fi is there for you to vibe to. **What is Lo-Fi?** Well Lo-Fi, also known as Low Fidelity or Low quality sounds, is an imperfect form of music. It comes with a Retro vibe with Modern Beats and arrangements What makes a Lo-Fi Beat unique is the background sounds. The imperfections during recording unique and positive beats are what separate this genre of music from all others. Lo-Fi music technically is just the arrangement of imperfect sounds coming together in a solemn manner often played slowly which makes it sound reverb(Slow but pleasant). **A Brief History Of Lo-Fi Music** Lo-Fi genre began to be recognised as a style of music in the early 1990's when it alternatively referred to as a **DIY**(Do It Yourself )Music. The standards of sound quality and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have originally recognised as such. There was no appreciation for the imperfections of Lo-Fi music among critics until the 1980's during which there was an emergent passion for home recording and DIY qualities. By the end of the 1980's, qualities such as home recording, technically primitive and cheap/inexpensive equipment and tools commonly associated with the Lo-Fi label, and throughout the 1990's. Such ideas became central to how Lo-Fi was popularly understood. NB: ***The Genre Was Popularised By DJ William Berger In The Year 1986 And Was Later Made More Public By Nujabes, J Dilla In 1990.*** **Some Types Of Lo-fi Sounds** ****Lo-fi Hip hop**** This genre of lo-fi commonly consists of songs with low-Mid tempo's between 70-90 BPM. Singing and rapping do occasionally appear in this genre as well. It's mostly like hiphop but retro or slowed down. Some popular artists in this genre are: Eevee Kazam Idealism...... ETC There are a whole lot more but you'll really enjoy their music. ****Chillwave Lo-fi**** Sometimes called Lo-Fi synthwave or Glo-Fi is a music microgenre that made way in the late 2000's. It is characterised by a faded or lo-fi retro pop sound, escapist lyrics, lo-fi aesthetic, mellow vocals, low to moderate tempo's, having effects processing and vintage synthesizers. A very popular artists in this field is Shiloh Dynasty with the popular song "Sing to You". Those are just some of few of the types of lo-fi music. Lo-fi is a very big part of music and also a very big part of my works. Lo-fi is a very wide topic of its own with its own very unique characteristics. I'm always happy to share my beat production knowledge on this platform and I hope it also inspires you guys to join in on the ride.

The first lap of A New Year For every new year there's always a new beginning, new hope, new strategies and new exploits in our talents. The year is just starting though, so there's not really much to say about it, but one thing I have in the back of my mind is "***I grind harder this year no matter the odds and no matter the struggle till I accomplish my goals***" That was my motto last year and the year before that. Last year was more of a year of exploration; like it was just to explore what I was capable of, my limits, my talents, my dreams and my focus on them. This year I think I'll go for win this time, since I now have the skills and talents that I've acquired in the last year. Well it'll be a "***slow and steady process***" , the year's just starting so I don't want to rush anything yet. I'd rather use this first lap of the year to ***"observe and hold on to my corner".*** When I say hold on to my corner I mean holding on to people that help and support me. This year the plan is to go all out and take every opportunity and embrace every moment. I remember last year, I was supposed to be a millionaire (Crypto Wise), but I couldn't see the potential in little things last year, I shunned so many money making opportunities. I've promised myself not to make the same mistake this year no matter how big or Minuit it might be. This year I'll try as much as I can to ***"seize the day".*** So far so good my crypto journey since last year as been very profitable, at least I was able to get 5x of what I invested, to me that's a win. This new year I'll aim higher. Well I don't really yet know if I'll be able to make 10x the profit this year though, most of my investments have been on altcoins and shitcoins. The one I know I invested in the most is Little Rabbit(really promising project) and another one I went into is WolfSafePoorPeople(WSPP) and I've made alot of interest from it. WSPP was on a bullish run last year and I hope it will be able to recreate it again this year, hope the devs know what and what not to do. I'm also thinking of adding new skills to the ones I already have. Other than beat production, football, crypto trading and analysis, cooking and poetry, I'm thinking of exploring 3D designs and animations. I've always loved the thought of making something that looks very realistic. Maybe I'll learn it In the mid part of the year. Well there's not much to say of what this year is going to be, I hope it'll be in my favour. So Tell Me, How's The New Year Going For You?

Beat Production: Beginners Guide Vol 2 In the first write up about beat production, I tried describing what beats are and the basic fundamentals of making a good beat. I also discussed about some types of beats and how they can be used. To continue the first intro I'll love to talk about 4 simple steps you'll need in making a good beat. You'll need A Melody Drums! A bass line A chorus What makes music sound pleasant to the ears is melody. ***Melody*** is simply a sequence of single notes that the listener hears as a single entity. So technically, a melody is just a repeat of different notes in a beat. Before making a beat, first things first, you find your melody. It's pretty easy to find a melody since there are tons of ***Samples***(a pre recording song or tune that can be used in another recording). Some samples are basically just instrumental versions of popular songs, most samples could be a guitar playing or a piano playing, choose a sample that you think will go well with the beat you want to create. Once you've gotten a melody you head on to make the melody more pleasing by adding in "DRUMS" 90% of melodious beats always have ***Drums*** playing in it. It's basically just to make the sample feel more vibrant and not like it's left alone in the beat. In the last post I mentioned something called ***BPM***(Beats Per Minute), this is very crucial especially when dealing with drums. Drums BPM must match the BPm of the melody so that one doesn't seem to go faster than the other so that the beat won't be a complete mess. For example a melody going at 80BPM and a drum going at 140BPM will make the beat sound rowdy and very unpleasant. Choose the right drum to go with your melody. Now the ***BassLine*** (which is not always necessary if you don't want to use it) is the lowest line of a piece of note in a beat. It's usually played with a bass guitar. From its name it's just to give a bass to your melody and also in a way, assist the drums to sound better and more vibrant. I personally like using bass line alot just to make my drums sound louder when they hit the beat of the bass. Likewise with melody and drums, bass line BPM should match as well. Finally, every good song must have a good chorus, something all the other steps can lay on. The ***Chorus*** is like a counter melody in the beat. It's like using the sample of the melody and adding another corresponding sample to it. It's very easy to make a chorus as you do not need to worry too much about BPM since it's just the same melody you used in the start but more amplified. Can there be a beat without a melody present? Yes its possible but it won't be considered as a beat anymore. It would be seen as a preset since it doesn't have a chorus cause of the absence of a melody. I hope you guys find interests in beat production, it's really fun and you could make alot of really great beats.

Beat Production: Beginners Guide It's certain that many of you enjoy music and I do too, but what makes a song flow, or makes it melodious or makes you want to dance to? Well I call it a "beat". Every song(even Acapella) needs a certain beat to it for sure, something to make the song rhyme and sound good. Beats on the other hand is simply the rythemic movement movement or speed at which a piece of music is played. That sounds simple enough. There are types of beats, dozens of them like; The Dub step, Reggaeton, drum and bass, techno beats etc..... They are all new topics of their own, but we will get to some of them later Beat Creation If you want to make music of course if you had the money, you could go to a recording studio and make a song or if you don't have the budget you can as well use your phone The same goes with beats. You can make your own beat in a recording studio(supposing you have the budget) or you could use your mobile phone but let's just say we don't have a budget, what are the things needed to make a beat on your phone? Firstly you'll need headphones. This is a very crucial equipment needed so as to be able to identify even the tiniest mistake in your beat. Secondly you'll need inspiration. Except you just want to copy another person's project or beat, it's best you find inspiration from somewhere. Thirdly you'll need beat creators or a "beat maker". The best beat maker for beginners that I would recommend is Bandlab. Available on both android and IOS. Types of Beat When I started making beats, the first type of beat I made music with was the basic "Drum and bass". This is a very fast pace type of beat that plays at about 150-170 BPM or Beats Per Minute, in terms of music, that is really fast. The way this sounds is simple, it's more like a heartbeat but faster. If you ever venture into beats production I'm sure you'll love working with this. Another one of my favourites is Lo-fi beats. Lo-fi(Low fidelity)is a type of beat or music whereas the elements in it, usually pointed out as imperfections are very audible. To simplify this, it's very much like listening to a slow song. Imaging Drum and Bass but slower maybe at 120 down to as low as 50 BPM. Lo-fi sounds are very very special and have a place in music. There are dozens of beats but I just mentioned my favorites, I may give more details of them probably if I make another write up of beats. Can You Make Income From Making Beats? Well you can make legit money from creating beats of your own and selling it to singers, music studios and even publish it on music platforms and gain subs. Is Beat Production Easy? From my knowledge and experience, I would say beat production technically speaking is easy but complex at the same time. It just depends on the kind or type of beats you want to make. Is Copying or Remaking A Beat Illegal or A crime Copying or Remaking an already existing beat is not Illegal but, if the intent behind the remake is to illegally distribute it, then it can be said to be infringing on the rights of the owner(s) of the original beat. I guess this is a very easy guide to the knowledge of beat production. I hope you'll have interests in the creation of beats and music.

My introduction to read.cash Happy new year to everyone on read.cash. This would be my first post and also an intro of who I am, what I do and also what I want to accomplish. **Well starting off with my name, I'm Elijah but I prefer the nickname FayLor. I live in the western part of Africa, Nigeria. I'm currently in the university studying in the fields of engineering.** I love reading ***POETRY*** and love writing them as well. Most of the inspiration I get that motivates me to write poems are from the songs I listen to and the people I work and live with. I also read story books and comics as a way of gaining more knowledge or keeping myself busy and entertained I also play ***video games*** (both mobile and console) such as GTA, FarCry and of course Call Of Duty. I also play Call of duty mobile and I hope one day I'll become a well known pro at it. Well it's pretty much obvious that I'm also into ***cryptocurrency***, most especially alt and meme coins. I started the crypto journey a year back and it has been very much profiting. I'm more of a long term investor, "it pays to be one" I am also a ***sound engineer***, I make beats ranging from lo-fi to hip-hop to RNB etc, you name it. So far I haven't released any of my beats to a music platform so they are pretty much unreleased but I mostly share them among family and friends to listen with. I'm good at editing videos of all sorts but mostly for funny content. My plans for 2022? Well my plans are very much simple, just to put in more work and effort as last year and at least make it worth the time. I hope this year will be a tremendous year for all of us and also for this platform.
