Yes! And I would take this a step further. I would invest in dividend index funds, such as VYM, (Vanguard High Dividend Yield Index Fund), or VYMI, (Vanguard International High Dividend Yield Fund). Vanguard is a good choice for index funds, (these two are actually ETFs, but the same general concept), because they have low fees. While stock funds are a great thing to build a foundation of wealth upon, I don't think the cash flow out of them will be enough to live on unless you have a ton of money invested in them. Unfortunately, I don't have a suggestion right now of an alternative investment that will give you a greater cash flow. I had hoped the various crypto DeFi projects promising high rates of return would fill that need, but the ones I invest in keep getting rug pulled. And as we can see from the dismal performance of UST/LUNA and now Celsius, rug pulls seem to be infecting all of the crypto DeFi space.
