Just started with the Splinterlands. Purchased the 11HBD worth of Spellbook too. Trying to find my ways around cards and also learning from the tutorial. I guess I am going to invest my time into the splinterlands a bit more before Kara & AXIE. If you want to read the journey of newbie into splinterlands, this is the space to watch folks!

It seems one need to pay a lot in this game. I also bought the starters pack but it can only reach you to a certain level. Sadly nobody told me there is need to pay a lot more to proceed at higher levels in this game. The early players get all the rewards from it. Bad format for a game makes it look like a scam trying to attract new players with fake promises.
I joined Splinterlands for my kids, but neither of them seemed all that interested in it. So I tried it myself, and I think I lost every match I participated in. :-(
