These are my turnip jack'o lanterns, I always try to make at least one traditional jack'o lantern every Samhain. Samhain (Halloween) originated in Ireland, pumpkins weren't used until the Irish emigrated to America and brought the Samhain tradition with them and eventually turnips were replaced with pumpkins because they were easy to grow and carve and were much bigger. Personally I think the turnips are much creepier.
