When we lived in our house in Georgia, USA, we had a THORNLESS rose bush. It had nice pink flowers, but compensated for not having thorns by having other problems. It grew as quickly as the other roses, but was extremely prone to this stupid black spot disease. It was the only rose we owned that I had to spray regularly.
