'camera rolling'!! ' Ready'!

'Action'

situation: the camera zoom in to take a flashback on the early beginning life of a young man and his family

Relationship with God is something of great priority in my family and household at large. I was born into a family of seven ( five children). We were of the average class. My parents were both very strict and no nonsense people. There were rules and regulations, do's and don'ts guiding our every move.

My mom happened to be a seamstress and more like a housewife too. She never let her work come in between she and her family. She's my role model in everything and I can say she's the best mum anyone can have.

My dad on the other hand, an dark complexioned average heightened man is a disciplinarian who believes everyone must be treated equally especially in times of punishment. At the mention of my dad's name, everyone scampers for safety.

In all of these, both parents of mine saw spirituality and relationship with God as the first priority of every human being and as such took it as a point of duty to instill in their children the dedication and fervency in the things of God.

My family is a Catholic family down to my great grandparents. At a tender age my dad made our first son join a group called The "altar servers association". Their slogan then was "nearer to the altar, nearer to God". My parents believed that with this he would be very close to the church and things of God

And so they tried their best in seeing that we adhere to everything good especially when they are around us.

In my family, you dare not skip going to church on Sundays because it would incur a great wrath from both parents on whosoever is the violator. My parents believed that no one is above being disciplined and anyone who sees it as an embarrassment should comport his or herself.

Growing up under a lot of policies and the giant hands of my parents was tough. I had always seen it as being caged and having limited freedom. of course I have less or no friends no time for that, my dad have a way of calculating the school closing hours with time spent on the rood so you better not exceed his given calculated time even when you are some minutes late you have to answer some annoying questions at times they are irrelevant but who are you not to answer them , you see no time to mingle .

Somehow it affected my self confidence especially when it comes to relating with my parents. I was always in my shell and at alert to be sure am not committing any of the offenses. The relationship between I and my mom is fair compare to my dad of course you should have noticed that by now, she was the only one who will intentionally forget her balance and never asked you again what you used the money for she know I have this habit of buy what she calls 'Nonsense' even when I just finished eating, I think I retained that habit.

But guess what!! As an adult today, I have realized the importance of my parents teachings, restrictions and beliefs. There are times I'm being tempted to do certain things but due to my background and upbringing, I always have to rethink the situation to make sure it's not something that will result to implicating me. I'm always cautious of everything move I make.

I try to live my life in a way that it aligns with my Catholic faith (not specifically in that their manner) and Christian Life generally. I'm very exemplary in my dealings and I try to serve as a role model to all and sundry who meet me. I also believe that someday I'll be able to inculcate in my children this good life instilled in me by my wonderful parents. I have learnt that either way, ones parents are the best gifts of God to humans

In conclusion, just as the Bible says in proverbs 22:6 "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will never depart from it". My parents have taught me a lot of good and that is what has sustained me up till now.
