Close to when I became attached you varnish, every time I remembered your face, a thought crosses my mind, that I was so lucky I had you in my life,Coz you were so caring and kind, every time I remembered your face, It reflects to me, that it's only you I wish to see always. Close to the moment I want to Share my happiness and all my sorrows you left, You are my dearest but you failed,With you I don't feel the fear,i see you as the smile of my life,Without you I don't think i can truly survive because I though that you will always be there. Close to the moment I start to regard you as a friend, when i thought you are so great, when I thought there was love, that i had full faith, saw you as a guide, you show me the way, you score a ton as I rated, you were the reason for my smile and cheer. **Close to when I start to realise** you're the man of my dreams,i saw you as my prince,I thought I was so lucky that you love me so much,as pure as your lovely touch,i thought having a hubby like you in life with make my life a complete one, I saw you as a dream come true, the love i had for you was so chaste and true, wish you didn't change the way you were. I wish I could turn back the hands of clock for those good memories. Close to the moment we were suppose to enjoy the life we want then you disappear, you left me with no choice to live with, you broke me with no mercy and I became useless without you around anymore. Emotan Emotan was born in 1380 and 1400,hailed from Eyaen village, close to the present day Aduwawa cattle market area, along the Benin-Auchi road. The name her parents gave her was Uwaraye. As a young woman she married chief Azama of ihogbe district,as his second wife. Uwaraye was considered indolent by her husband because she could not cook. she could not get pregnant either. Azam's first wife,Arabe, handled the domestic chores and gave birth to all the children of the household. Azama soon nicknamed Uwaraye, Emitan, corrupted to Emotan, meaning lazy bones she had a redeeming features, though. she was good at helping to nurse and take care of the brood of the household. Emotan who could make evbarie (a soup seasoning condiment made from fermented melon seeds) and spin threads from cotton balls, began taking these plus some herbal products to sell at a stall opposite the city market (present day oba market). when her husband died, she couldn't return to her parents home because they too had died of old age earlier on. she set up a hut to live in at her trading post opposite the market place. Her hut soon became popular make shift nursery for the children of families patronizing the market. she attended to children's health and others needs selflessly without charging fees and the kid's parents soon could not have enough of her services. Some historians are of the view that Emotan was a market woman who took care of little children whilst their mothers were away buying and selling their wares in oba market. They refer to her as the woman who began the first "Day-care centre" in Benin city. At that period, prince Umaifiokun usurped the throne of the Benin kingdom, thereby denying his elder brother,Prince Ogun (Oba Ewuarel) his legitimate position as king. Prince Ogun in those time of travail, paid secret and nocturnal visits to Benin from his place of exile. After his ouster by his younger brother, prince Ogun (oba ewuarel) found his way to the house of this beautiful woman opporsite the market place in the city. She was powerful and childless. She was also very loving and generous, hence it was in her nature, therefore, to agree to have prince Ogun as her guest and to help him take back his stolen crown. On many occasions, this market woman called Emotan warned Ogun of impending dangers and advised him against interacting with some treacherous chiefs, who many reveal his whereabouts to his younger brother, who wanted him dead at all cost. On one occasion,Emotan had to go an extra mile spiritually, to hide prince Ogun from his adversary. As soon as the army moved their search from the hut to other areas in the vicinity, prince Ogun sneak out ,avoiding the path of the army and headed straight for the palace where he killed his usurper brother, oba Uwaifiokun. The news of his action soon spread around the city, ordinary citizens were supportive of his action, insisting that it was Ogun's right to do what he did and expressing joy and hope that the tragedies of the recent past had ended because justice had prevailed. Emotan sent word to Ogun to stay put in the palace and consolidate his hold, while she continued the spiritual work from her home. So deep was her love and empathy for prince Ogun. Within a few days, the Edion'isen had come around to show support to Ogun, eventually crowning him as the Omo n'oba uku akpolokpola, oba Ewuare his divination title choice of owonuare, alias Ewuare could not have been more apt because it means, after the heat, the cooling effect of rain. Oba Ewuare appointed Emotan as the Iyeki (leader of the authorized epate guild ) tasked with security matters in the market and with enforcing market rules. Emotan died not too long after Ewuare's ascension to the throne of his forefathers. The oba decreed that she should be buried in her hut. Later the grave was marked with an uruhe tree a d her deification as the conscience of justice was ordered by the king. Every celebratory procession in Benin pays homage to her burial site. The first uruhe tree (marker) survived for some three hundred years before it fell. The replacement uruhe tree, survived for about one hundred and fifty years before and iroko tree was planted to support it. A severe storm later fell both trees. Then in 1954 oba Akenzua II,in collaboration with the British colonial authorities commissioned a life size bronze statue of Emotan as a young woman. Thanks for reading.....

Happy birthday I use to hear people say someone is a rear gem but you make me understand what it meant. A friend once ask me if you're truely my uncle and I said well you're my God sent uncle, you're more than a boss or lecturer to me,you take me as your own blood, not only me but even ELERE without knowing the bird that gave birth to us. You make everyone around you happy, you teach and advice us on how life life is and you mandate us to make use of it and it as really been helpful. We are not related but you showed me a fatherly love which I hope for in my own biological father. When I have no where to go,when there was no shelter for me ,you showed up for me,you take me as your daughter, sister, friend, family, you feed me,care for me even when you know not who gave birth to me,sir you are such an amazing soul with good heart. I remember the day I came back to offa and I had accommodation issue, the moment I called him and told him what my problem was,he didn't even think about it and he ask me to come stay in his house since he live alone in a two bedroom flat. I had no job, he take responsibility of all my need, even when I need toiletries he paid for it. Even sometimes when I get angry😁 he will only look at me and console me again. There was a time i was having menstrual cramps, and during my period I do get angry easily,he asked me a question and I answered but he didn't remember asking me before,I shouted at him but instead of getting angry, he drew me close to him and ask why I was angry over such little issue,I told him I wasn't angry but he insisted I talk so I told him I was on my period, he smiled and ever since then whenever I got angry with no reason he just ignore it and even ask what I want. He studied me so well and know so much about me that even my own dad don't even know. Everyday I use to pray God bless me so I can reward your kindness and love to me but I know someday I will be buoyant enough to reward you. I pray God will spare your life longer to reap the fruit of your labour in life and good health. HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE WISH YOU LONG LIFE AND PROSPERITY..........
