Compliments
Compliments are definitely a confidence booster if you'd ask me. No matter how insignificant you feel it is, you never can tell if those kind words were all that someone needed to feel whole again.
Earlier today, I wasn't feeling myself and didn't have the vibe to be on a radio show I normally have. However, someone called in to compliment my voice and I instantly felt happy and special. My day went pretty fine afterward.
This shows how compliment goes a long way in making others feel important and pushes them to do better.
Try complimenting a friend, co-worker, or an employee or neighbor, and remember, it must be genuine.
It's been like forever since I've been here. There has really been a lot going on which have been so overwhelming but then, we moveeeee.
So, I'm back on track and ready to write more😊
It's a really cold morning which equals to a lazy day for most Nigerians living in Abuja.
However, we can still be productive by setting out realistic goals and combating procrastination.
Much love💜
For someone who barely prolong conversations just because there's nothing to say most times, it's quite intriguing how I spent three (3) hours on a call with someone I barely liked months ago, talking about the most random things which I found quite interesting.
I'm sure a lot of us avoid talking to some certain people because we think there's really nothing to talk about but who knows????
Here I am on my bed, thinking of something to write after a long time.
Sometimes I wonder whether I'm the only one who experience writer's block cause it gets to be all the time😪
If you do too, I wanna know how you get through it.
Uncertainty
Where do we go from here?
When it seems like it's gonna end.
I want to know if it's all worth it, if we were ever meant to be.
Just like how everything we've ever done was just us taking risks.
I want to try us even when we don't know what will come of it
The pain, the struggles, will they be worth it?
It's just a whole bunch of uncertainty if you'd ask me.
Fries
The ever loving fries
Which will remain the best among the rest
The thoughts of you makes life worthwhile
At least you never fail to take the stress of the day away.
Though your beginning is life draining, the end result restores the lost life
I love to dance along with you as you dance to the rhythm of the hot oil
I love it when you're covered with cold tomato sauce
The taste is heaven you know.
I know I'm not being fair, devouring you without care
But don't blame me, I'm insane when I'm with you
Just know one thing, I'm always broken when you go so soon.

Self Appreciation Can Make You Achieve The Unthinkable
Self-appreciation entails being grateful for one’s physique, abilities or talents. This is not only limited to the positive side of an individual. Realizing your weaknesses and figuring out where you need help is a way of appreciating yourself.
It is about being thankful about who you are, accepting your uniqueness, valuing who you are and showing yourself kindness.
For someone who never thinks of herself as being worthy of any good, Julia focuses on external approval to feel good. Just like Julia, many others lack the ability to be there for themselves and appreciate their qualities and abilities.
Most times, we live with the mindset that our deeds must be appreciated by others before they’re considered good enough. So if we don’t receive thumbs up from others, does it mean what we have done is worthless?
**Comparison is a thief of happiness!**
You see others achieving so much and it looks all pretty with the glam all over. Then you look at yourself and get all sad because you aren’t on track as others are and you feel you’re not doing enough.
Rather than beating yourself up, why not be grateful for what you can do and try to be better at it? Who knows, you might become more awesome than you imagine. You really do not have to do as much as others. Work at your own pace and do what you can with a difference.
***‘SELF APPRECIATION IS THE FOUNDATION OF A HAPPY LIFE. WITHOUT IT, YOU CAN’T BUILD A BIGGER YOU- GUSTAVO RAZZETTI***
The foundation of self-growth is self-appreciation. Not appreciating yourself oftentimes brings about stagnation. If you don’t see anything good in what you’re doing, you definitely won’t strive to do your best at it.
**SELF ESTEEM + SELF APPRECIATION =SELF CONFIDENCE**
Self-esteem is your personal (subjective) opinion about yourself which is framed by your perception, experiences, the information you’re exposed to and the likes. It can either be positive or negative.
Although self-esteem is not the same as self-appreciation, having a healthy (high) self-esteem helps one to see oneself as being worthy of anything they set their minds to. Self-esteem, according to Julie F. Skolnick, is a key to success. It is the ability of a person to do anything, take risks, try new things and knowing it will come out good.
When achieving goals, we need to moderate our expectations; just in case things don’t work out as we planned and we begin to see ourselves as failures. This makes a person start thinking and saying negative things like: “I’m not worthy of this task”, “Someone else would have done it better” etc”. Researchers call this feeling ‘**The Imposter Syndrome**‘. https://savofns.net/lifestyle/dealing-with-impostor-syndrome-are-you-living-a-fake-life/
In dealing with this, there is a need to infuse self-love. That is, having the mindset that no matter the result, you’ll still feel good about yourself, knowing that mistakes are inevitable and can be corrected and believing that you’re worth every achievement you obtain.
Self-confidence is modulated self-esteem that comes with an awareness that you are not above mistakes and you can struggle and still feel okay.
We all at some point need to be appreciative of who we are and embrace our abilities. There is no better push than ourselves.
**Here Are Possible Ways Of Practising Self-Appreciation:**
**Appreciate the littlest of yourself** Be happy in your own skin, body, talents and abilities. This is you and no one will love you as you would.
Practice positive self-talk.
Avoid focusing on your mistakes: Work towards getting better instead.
Consider approval from yourself next time rather than waiting for others.
Strive to be the best version of yourself.
**Solvita Bennett listed some ways in which self-appreciation benefits us as individuals:**
It helps us gain confidence.
It helps us work more effectively.
In as much as you appreciate yourself, you tend to appreciate others too.
Self-appreciation helps one connect with people and accept their differences.
*Note: Self-appreciation has nothing to do with bragging or being self-centred. It’s just about being happy with yourself and valuing who you are.*
**Julia doesn’t realize she’s a great person doing great things because others don’t encourage her enough. However, when she begins to appreciate her strength and the efforts she puts into whatever she does, just then will she know her worth.**
Thanks @Ashma Hope for more opportunities.
"My arms"
The words you said..
Those words were all that I needed to hear.
As it went through my eyes, my mind, then my heart
I realized it was definitely what I'd ever live for
So beautiful and true
The love was made anew
As you scribe with your pen
While pouring out your heart intent:
"Just a little while my dear.
Then you'll be where you should always be - **My arms**"
Thanks @Ashma for this opportunity😊
A letter to you
Dear friend,
I know things are not going so well and you feel you're not doing enough. Don't worry, you're not the only one who feels this way. We are many, just like you
I know you feel undeserving and most times doubt your abilities. You shouldn't feel this way. We all shouldn't.
How about we test seeing the good in ourselves? It wouldn't be that bad, this I'm sure of.
We just might love who we are, see the good others see but we're blind to and appreciate ourselves more.
Love is just what we need. Self love and love from all.
Yours forever,
Dee
Imaginations
Imagine waking up one morning and all you see is nothing, nothing but yourself.
It's frightening isn't it?
That feeling of isolation. Isolation from the world, isolation from the good thoughts.
You see yourself drowning, drowning slowly. Scared that you might leave without any glory.
But don't worry!
It's just an imagination.
Life is more pretty than we imagine. So I heard and now you do.
Just have faith, do great and see yourself living the life that only you can imagine.
Influence of Friendship
Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. Everyday, we converse with people we call our friends and tend to emulate certain characters from them which can be termed as 'influence'. We learn and unlearn a lot from them. This becomes a basis for our reasoning.
Friends/peers are major aspect of socialization in the lives of individuals and they serve as 'key influencers' in shaping life. These are the people we spend most of our lifetime with. At various stages in life, we are busy exchanging ideas and relating with our peers.
These individuals influence us in ways we cannot imagine. They directly or indirectly affect our behaviors, perceptions and view of life.
Research has it that friends have the greatest influence in adaptation of lifestyle, educational choices, decision making and a whole lots more.
**Show me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are - Vladimir Lenin**
The type company you keep tells a lot about your personality. They determine the roadpath for your future. That is why being in the right one is a great deal. Ever wonder why successful people mingle with people of the same caliber? This is because they reason alike and work towards achieving even more.
Having friends with good influence cannot be overemphasized. Imagine you have a business idea you intend to embark on or a project you've been entitled to. Involving your friends in the process can determine how successful the outcome will be. Some may encourage and most likely proffer a better solution while others may fill you with negativity which can hinder you from even attempting.
In as much as friends give advice that seem like moral support, we should be careful of how they have an impact on us. We all react to the same situation differently and have different perceptions. This automatically make it possible for our friends to infuse their own ideas and change our mindset.
Your friends can make or mar you. So when making new friends, be sure to attract the right people.
What goes on in the mind of an introvert: unique facts about introverts
The terms “introvert” and “extrovert” were popularised by a Swiss psychoanalyst, Carl Jung.
Being a child, I never understood exactly who I was. Not because I was nonchalant about my personality, but because I never thought there was a need to. I was just a child. Why stress my mind on things like that when I could be outside playing or watching Tom and Jerry?
Then I began to take note of certain characteristics and realized I was quite different from a few around. I am an introvert and I am totally normal.
Introversion is a personality trait characterized by being quiet, reserved, calm and is found in one who finds pleasure being alone most times. Research has it that this type of people takes up a lesser percentage of the world’s population (40%).
**Basically, There Are Four (4) Types Of Introverts:**
Social introverts: these type of people prefer to stay home and have fun by themselves than to attend an event or rather have a smaller social group than to go to a party with bunch of randoms
Thinking introverts: they are always in their own world, self-reflecting and keeping busy with creative imaginations. They are deep thinkers
Anxious introverts: unlike social introverts, they find solitude as they’re always awkward around people and are self conscious. They get nervous and prefer being alone.
Restrained introverts: they take their time before acting. They are more reserved
There are a lot of misconceptions about introverts which is saddening cause they make it seem like it’s being abnormal or the same as being shy, depressed, rude or anti-social.
This has nothing to do with being an introvert. It is innate or most times caused by life experiences.
Introverts may enjoy socializing just like extroverts. In fact there are a lot of outgoing introverts who do well admist people.
However, it wears them out easily or they may get bored all of a sudden and want to be alone (we love our alone time).
Conversing with an introvert in your workplace might be quite tricky. For someone who does not know the kind of person I am might call me weird or boring. It’s normal I guess. But one thing to keep in mind is that we take time to process information before we act or speak.
We tend to listen more and let you do the talking. We also do not always know what to say at the moment. So next time you try to have a conversation with one of my kind, know that is not a rush talk or you would be disappointed.
Verbal communication is most times a challenge for introverts. So, you might notice that we are better at writing down our thoughts, ideas or feelings than expressing it verbally.
This is why we don’t like small talks cause we find it difficult to be fully expressive. [**1**] https://www.verywellmind.com/signs-you-are-an-introvert-2795427
**Four Facts About Introverts**
Introverts need their alone time to re-energize after being in social gatherings
They’re better listeners than speakers
They’d rather have a small circle with strong relationship than a crowd
Introverts often times wish they were extrovert
Whenever you want to visit an introvert, please do not go unannounced! We definitely do not like unexpected visitors.
In as much as I’d be happy to see you around, I might not just be equipped with the adequate amount of ‘gist’ to keep you company. This might be normal for anyone but it’s worse with us trust me.
Although a lot might not agree with the above characteristics but one thing is for sure: no two introverts are exactly the same. So some may not exhibit some of these traits.
Next time you come across an introvert, have it in mind that it is not a defect and we’re as normal as extroverts are. We just differ with how we approach the world we live in.
