A walk To Remember

Early in the morning  we went to our neighbor's corn field to get some leftovers to feed our chicken and ducks. On our way, my nephews who wanted to join enjoyed our walk because they were talking as if they were big guys, and they were singing while running ahead of me, and it was just another day for us to do what we should do.

I bought a "binabay" Bisaya term and "Liyang" for matigsalug term, I don't know what it's tagalog and english term, but for the description, it is made by thin bamboo's and you can put anything into it because it has a lot of space inside, some other called it a "Matigsalug Basket".

***Now You Know !!!*** Our ancestors used it as their bag, the "*binabay*''. They put firewood, vegetables and food in it, and it can help with various things that need a wide space. When they travel far away they also put their little children here and they hang it on their head and hang it on the back of where their children are. While still walking, we reached the creek Dam. Sophia was jumping with excitement as she saw a water and mistook it for a swimming pool haha, but when we were going to pass to the water, she was screaming because she was afraid that she might fall because our path is a bit slippery.

I had no choice but to carry her at my back, so that she would stop screaming.

***History of the place;***  Before the dam was finished, most of our barangay residents took a bath here, even in other barangays they bathe here, even picnics, date spots and family days are sometimes held here, because it's beautiful and free, and it was deep it used to be almost 18ft deep and the water is still clean, it's sad to say past is past, because now the dam has no maintenance, it is not maintained and its water is dirty, and so far it has just been used to irrigate the paddy. The kids are really enjoying themselves because they are sliding. Sophia was really jealous and also wanted to slide but I never let her since she's just a baby and it's really dangerous at her age. Before I reached the cornfield, I took a picture of me. It was long ago since the last time that I stepped on this Dam,at least  for remembrance, because before I used to take a bath here with my friends until oir guardians were angry because we were nowhere to be found, they didn't know that we were here at the dam and enjoying ourselves.

As I reached the cornfield, luckily I found some corn for my chicken and ducks. I put it all in my "binabay" and stayed for a while, while looking at the kids that were enjoying the water and the slide, and then we decided to go back home.

But before that Sophia and Noeme, her cousin, wanted me to take a picture of them while at the water, and as you can see, it is not as deep as before and the color of the water is not good especially and it is used as gravel for various constructions.

***Realization :*** When my cousin called me to pick corn, I couldn’t quite imagine that I could take this idea and write, but I did and I still remember all the happy days when I was young as we bathed in the dam without malices, fun to think because I think all the places in our barangay will remember me haha, and I'm happy at least to share this experience. ***Final thought:***  It's not bad to be a slacker when you do it in a good way, and it's also good that sometimes you listen to old stories about what they went through, like me, I can't quite imagine that even in the little things I see, I remember all my grandmother's stories, and as listened to their stories, it was not my intention to get bored, but it's a nature as a kid, It can make me smile now because I never thought that I can still remember all of those when I got bored and not even concentrate on listening. It is also better to think that we do not just lose our memories somewhere, even if the places or a things are broken or no longer beautiful.
