Super Princess Peach was released for the Nintendo DS in 2006 (2005 in Japan). As a game obviously aimed at young girls, this is not something I played or would have had an interest in at the time. Having said that, as a platform game, it is more or less on par with similar games featuring Super Mario. There aren't any dates on any of the slides in this set but they all would have been taken in the mid to late 1960s. Electronic Games was really the grandfather of all video gaming magazines. It’s life was cut somewhat short by the video game crash of 1982/83 but the influence of it and its creators carried on throughout the life of video gaming journalism. The Colonel's Bequest, while perhaps somewhat less well known than some of Sierra's other releases, is a graphics adventure game of a somewhat similar style to the King's Quest series. The Hewlett Packard p7-1012 is a great example of why you don't want to buy "big box" store computers off the shelf. On the one hand, it looks ok and while it has a fairly low-end CPU even for the time, there is at least a fairly substantial upgrade path. However, on the other hand, it only has a 250 watt power supply and while it can be upgraded from a dual-core cpu to a hexa-core CPU, the top of the range is off limits because of motherboard power restrictions. Whilst a memory and processor upgrade should by fairly straightforward I'm not too sure about the upgrade from Win3.11 to Win9.x. I'm pretty sure the second one, showing two girls after just getting out of the pool, was taken at a hotel on Miami Beach. The next two photos were processed in September 1965. They look like they were taken in a park next to a lake or possibly river. The first shows a younger man. I'm not sure if that is his son in the background or just a random photo bomber. You can see cars and canoes in the distance. The second shows an older couple standing behind their car. Final Fantasy is one of the seminal games for the original NES. It was the game the brought Japanese style RPGs to the North American masses and has spawned countless sequels, spinoffs, ports and remakes as well as plenty of imitators. I've always preferred the more American style D&D type RPGs myself but there can be no doubt of the influence and impact of this game. The first two photos were processed in August 1966 and show two kids (siblings?) sitting on a couch. I think one of these must be reversed because they are clearly sitting on opposite ends of the couch and you can still see the leg of the boy in the first picture in the second picture as well.
