Sinistar was a popular arcade game released by Williams Electronics in 1983. Interestingly, in a time when arcade to home ports were very common, no home port of Sinistar was released until more than a decade later as part of several of the Midway compilations for a variety of systems. Versions for the Atari 2600 and Atari 8-bit computer line were planned and mostly completed but never released. Thanks to the magic of the internet, the nearly completed Atari 8-bit version…

Millipede is one of many classic arcade games by Atari. As the sequel to Centipede, game play is very similar. Millipede could even be considered a Centipede enhancement as easily as you could call it a sequel. Millipede was never quite as popular probably for just that reason. The original Centipede was released in 1980 and Millipede came along in 1982. Read more: https://hive.blog/hive-140217/@darth-azrael/millipede-atari-1983 #Retrogaming

No, Space Adventurer Cobra was not quite my first exposure to anime but it is, indirectly, what got me interested. The first anime I ever saw, though I didn't know it at the time, was Battle of the Planets (otherwise known as Gatchaman). This was when I was probably only around 6 years old and to me it just happened to be my favorite cartoon. I had no concept of what anime or Japanese animation was. Fast forward a decade or so and I'm sitting on the couch flipping through…

Before my PC days (as in IBM PC compatible), I had a Commodore 64. I loved it but also dreamed of owning an Amiga. A review of The Flintstones by Taito for the Sega Genesis from the April 1993 issue of GameFan. I never played this game as I had a Super Nintendo instead of a Genesis at the time and wasn’t really interested in these sorts of licensed games anyway. However, the screen shots make this look like a pretty decent platformer and the writer of this review certainly seemed to like it. Read more:…

While Nintendo had Mario as a mascot from the beginning, it was a long time before Sega would find its mascot. Not until the 16-bit era did Sonic make an appearance. Sonic was meant to be a faster and "cooler" 2D platform game to compete with the slower and more "boring" Mario games. I honestly never thought Sonic was quite as polished or otherwise as good a game as Super Mario 4 but the Sonic games were still excellent games and Sega did use Sonic's speed to good effect in…
