Way up the Ladder
*'Everyone wants to be the best version of themselves...'*
I have heard the above words said over and over again, and I think everyone will agree it's true. I mean, who wants to be where he/she was yesterday. No one and I repeat no one wants to be poor, wretched or slave to anyone. But we find this happening in our society. @Kushyzee posted an article on the evil search for fame, money and getting to the top of the Ladder in the society in his recent post and all I could come up is 'Just why?'. Why slaughter a brother, sister, friend, foe, a child or adult all to make some pieces of paper. Yeah money is good, I mean, I won't have heard of read.cash if not for my struggle to make some money, but I don't have to go rogue or blood thirsty just to make it. The way up the ladder is always tough and most times lonely. I run, I walk, I fall, I rise, I cry, I rejoice all on our way to the top but I don't stop neither will I have to shed blood or make another cry for me to get rich.
The crux
In one of my recent posts, I talked about some criteria of making it to the top and believe me, throat cuting and other social vices are not part of them. Believe me, with consistency, determination, prayers and focus, the top is surely our abode.
So keep run, keep working, keep praying for in all this, SUCCESS IS GUARANTEED
The best thing that can happen to a man is for him to meet Christ. The word of the Lord says those he has predestined, he has called, and those he called he has glorified. Thank you God for counting me worthy to be called your own.
A trip to Okomu National Park
*Hi everyone, it's been quite sometimes since I last posted and this due to the some jobs I have at hand and had to complete. Today I will be sharing my experience at the Okomu National Park, Nigeria. I actually got the opportunity to go see this natural sanctuary through a singles and married forum I attended. The visit to the park served as a break section of the program*.
OKOMU NATIONAL PARK
The visit was on a Sunday. We took off around 11a.m and arrived there around 1:45p.m or so. the journey was indeed tiring but our labor was soon rewarded. When we arrived, we were first directed to administration building to get permits and a guide to take us around and instruct us. At the administration building, we were shown the white-throated guenon, a vulnerable primate species, and the dwarf antelope. We were allowed to touch and take pictures with the antelope but not with the monkey. the antelope was said to have a very keen sense of smell and can locate an already smelt object almost 3 km away. We also saw the dwarf crocodiles. Honestly, I actually thought those things were statue, thank God The guides were around, maybe my hands won't have been complete by now. LOL!
After getting our permit and were through with other paper works, we then headed to the main park. The entrance to the park was severely guarded by the forest guards and security men to prevent poachers and tree feller from gaining access illegally. The way leading to the sanctuary was lines hundreds and thousands of rubber trees and palm trees on both sides of the roads. The first segment we went to was the MONA monkey habitat. It was a indeed an interesting sight to see these acrobats display their talents. I was lucky to see the leader of the troop [I knew this because the guide shew me]. From there we went to the residential building and would have gone to the tree house, the Elephant's sanctuary [my most delightful place to visit], the Buffalo forest, the Baboon mountain, and so on but there was no time.
The Truth is most of these animals are being hunted down and killed for their skin, ivory and meat. We have to take up the mission of saving and protecting these natural beauties. They are our heritage, our pride and our resources. Apart from directly disengaging from activities that endangers and destroy wildlife and resources, you can also stop the activities of poachers and wildlife destroyers by not purchasing or endorsing items that are gotten from these means.
REMEMBER FOR EVERY FUR, LEOPARD SKIN, IVORY CHAIN OR LION CLAW YOU WEAR, AN/MANY ANIMALS HAVE BEEN KILLED. SAY NO TO POACHING AND WILDLIFE DELETION, SAY YES TO ANIMAL AND WILDLIFE SAFETY.
So, that's all guys. We really enjoyed ourselves, and I know I would soon go to back and finish my excursion very soon.
Here I am once again, thinking I had found a new hobby in writing that will get me away from boredom and school work, but no rest or vacation for now.
Nevertheless I will not fail to thank God for his grace and mercy that has kept me, my family, friends and the whole BCH community alive in good health and peace of mind. December is always my best month of the year, not only because that is when the celebration of our Lord's birth is done but also because it is my family's month; we are all December born... YEAH! Let me whisper this: I WILL BE CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY ON THE 22ND OF THIS MONTH!!! LOL
Before I stop for tonight let me say this: Although this is a festive period, it is also a good time to plan, strategize, equip and pray very well for the New Year we are about to enter. Remember, it is the birth of our Lord that we are celebration and not our own self gratifications. OKAY, this is where I'll stop tonight, do have a wonder night rest wonderful people and stay safe.
HAPPY NEW MONTH.
New to the Game.
Hi everyone, my name is Daniel and I must say it is very nice to be finally here. I have been trying several times to join the party but the forces of darkness tried to prove it abortive, but as always, light always triumphs, LOL. I know as I have embarked on this prospective journey, it will not be anything short of fun, goodness and most especially tips.
To begin with, I will like to start with **HOW MY DAY WENT.**
*Today started with a cool breeze moving over the landscape of Isibor axis, Benin city. The previous night was at the least a sweaty one due to the fact that we are slowly approaching the dry season here in Nigeria.* *I actually started the day with a slight stomachache which didn't take long before it subsided. I then proceeded to the bathroom to take my bath before heading for school. To be truthful, I was at first reluctant to go to school as we are already done with exams and was supposed to be on break by now, but I still had many things to attend to in school the chiefest of them being our cultured fishes. To digress a little, I study AQUACULTURE AND FISHERIES MANAGEMENT which deals with the study of all fish species and other aquatic organism both in marine and fresh water environment. So yeah, am a fish scientist, LOL. Hence, we have to be in school for practicals, studying, researching and observing the various aquatic specimens. So, on getting to school today, we harvested the fishes from two concrete tanks and then customers started trooping in to place their order and make payment for their purchases. Of a truth, Aquaculture is one of the most lucrative business on the planet, I mean 'what age group, culture, race or individual does not eat fish?!'. Moving on, after the customers must have selected their choices and made payment for them, we then proceed to the GUTTING unit. This was where the greater part of the work was done today. Due to high number of fishes to be gutted, we had to work extensively and dirtily as our farm coats were stained with blood and visceral of fishes. It was really a hectic task but thank God for friends that got our backs. We did completed the task, and headed to the feed mill for relaxation. Then on my resting chair, I drifted into the world of thoughts and tried to administer wisdom and sobriety to my mind. All that kept echoing in my subconsciousness was 'THE DONKEY SPOKE!!!' {I'd explain more on this in the coming days}.*
THE HEROINE!
After i journeyed back from my meditation, something interesting happened that i find worthy of note. Nini finally bought the feeds. CONFUSED? Let me start from the beginning then. After our work in the gutting unit, we went to take our rest. Now my group's fishes have not eaten since the past three days as we were not able to get feed anywhere. So, we proposed to get the feeds today. Although I was supposed to go with the person who was going to get the feeds cause I knew where we used to get them, but i couldn't because I was specifically given a job to do by the farm manager. so two of my coursemates volunteered to go - NINIOLA and IJ. Now it was only IJ that has gone to the place before while Nini was novice to it. Due to memory blurriness, Ij couldn't locate the place and in the process got herself and Nini lost and hopeless. They kept going from place to place looking for where they could get the fish feeds from, but all to no avail. They called us to get directions and instructions and this made us burn call cards and waste a lot of time. At a point we told them to give up the mission and start coming back to school because one of us said he'll try a place and was not even sure if they would have but Nini objected and said she will definitely get the feed. To be honest we all grew tired of her and her audacious attitude to look for the feed even when we have all give up the quest. This girl went as far as getting a male substitute and went deeper into the city all in the name of searching for the feed just to prevent the fishes from starving for another full day and probably the next coming days. Then, at about 4:00 pm, the heroine arrived with seven [7] bags of the feeds.
*And for that single act of selflessness, dauntless, persistency and not backing down even when others did, the starving fishes were able to eat to their fill.*
Yes, the event might sound trivial and senseless, but a deep reflection and meditation will make you understand that it takes more than flying in the sky or carrying an airplane to be a superhero or heroine. It actually takes the following:
***COURAGE***
***CONSISTENCY***
***SELFLESSNESS***
***NOT BACKING DOWN EVEN IF OTHERS DO.***
*and the last is* ***COMMITMENT.***
***An important foot note is: you can get what you want if you persist, commit yourself to it and build up the courage to pursue it.*** *Maybe I'd take us through some of these points one day.*
wheew! I think i am done for today, so fellas I have been able to take you through a little bit of my day. My bed is calling me now.
