Each flower has a meaning, a purpose, but I think it differs depending on the viewer, depending on beliefs and customs, traditions. For example, the oleander. I love Mediterranean plants, I've always had oleanders but, as you know, in our country in winter we have to keep them in the house. When I was in Greece I found out that there is a belief that oleanders bring poverty, that the Greeks get angry if you go with oleander to give it as a present... When I see oleander in bloom, its blossom and fragrance send me instantly to the sea, to Greece, but the Greeks seem to be frightened by these shrubs. Although there the oleanders grow all over the roads.
