LOVE Love is one of the most abused word in the world. Many claim to know it yet can't recognize it. It's rampantly preached, yet a very scarce commodity. Love is a necessary ingredient for growth and development amongst people, especially in a heterogeneous nation like Nigeria. It is not weakened by diversity. Aversely, it grows stronger in it. Love is beyond emotions because emotions, like water in ocean, is unstable. Love extends to all situations including the good, the bad and the ugly, as such, it is not just for the good times. Love doesn't turn its back when the going gets tough instead it braves up, facing the circumstances. Love is a choice. It is treating people the way you want them to treat you. Love is sacrificial and selfless . It looks out for the benefits of the whole over the part. Love understands, hence it is not quick to judge. Explaining this cardinal aspect of human life, Ann Landers says that “Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is a quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weakbreeds.” Love may starts with a priceless smile from one to another. It sows ageless seeds that breeds many virtues, among which are; happiness, peace, cooperation, growth and development. Always remember that our nation Nigeria can receive a life-giving touch from you when you choose to treat your neighbor, irrespective of where they come from or who they are, the way you want to be treated. Thus, Maya Angelou opines that “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” .This nation will achieve better when love finds its place in her. So do let love lead.

THE UNWORN SHOE Time and again, people look out for givers. Probably because they have something to gain or these givers have developed a loveable nature. Whichever ways, givers are silent influencers who quietly call the shots. Givers don't just give money, they give time, value, resources, care and lots more. They are the "people's persons". We often want givers in our circle but struggle to be one. We often want so much from people yet give so little. I think it's high time we start being who we'd love to meet.
