Look at what my parents had for a visit after years. These butterflies were plentiful in my youth, then they became fewer and fewer. In the meantime, it looks like they are doing better again. They always remind me of my childhood and I am happy that they are back. The European peacock butterfly (Inachis io) grows to about 5 cm and is found from Central Europe to Japan. The "eyes" on the top deter predators and attract photographers.
