I am toying with the idea of heating the house using a solar-powered Bitcoin (or whatever) mine. Does anyone have experience in this direction? Let's say the electricity comes from the roof, the mine runs and generates useless waste heat. How do I get that efficiently into the house's heating circuit? Water cooling and heat exchangers or are there better concepts?

Look for passive house.
This is difficult to achieve in an old house, but every step in the direction counts.
Difficult but not impossible. There are two instances in my neighbourhood that once they had the refurbishment, they save 80%!! of the electricity bill. Of course everything is a matter of money, but at least here in Spain, refurbishing an old house in order to achieve high energy efficiency, is subsidised with up to 40% of the cost.
Here in Germany, there is also funding for this, but I have to find out about it first. What is important now is a self-sufficient power supply that can also supply the heating. The roof is newly insulated and covered, the rest will have to wait until money falls from the sky.

I think it would be possible if you have a lot of money for such an investment. We should know how much heat one computing unit will produce and how large spaces you will heat. Accordingly, design the necessary number of units and their power. Then you will accumulate waste heat in the air conditioner that you will distribute in the house.
Sound like worth a try but no experience as I have an apartment without roof, but keep us posted!
