As of today, there is no longer a requirement to wear a mask while shopping in my state. And that with increasing numbers. Whoever had this stupid idea, about half the people follow it. It's amazing how resistant to knowledge people can be. Welcome to the fourth wave!

( I am not trying to turn this political AT ALL) For the longest time I was in the same boat as you. I would wear a mask because A) it protects me and others B) they never bothered me wearing them C) Why freakin not. Then my state changed the laws and you didn't need to wear one if you were fully vaccinated. Obviously everyone and their mother stopped wearing one even if they weren't vaccinated. Then it changed to be that stores could dictate if you needed to wear a mask at all regardless of vaccination. And obviously 90% of the people stopped wearing them. I continued to wear mine for my 3 main points above. But after talking to my sister in the medical field I slowly stopped wearing mine. She mentioned a few good points but one of them was that the fear of a second wave of sickness months later. Since we all have been hand sanitizing and wearing masks our immune systems haven't been under the stress to protect us like it normally is and normally our immune systems is creating like antibodies to ward of infections and diseases and making us immune to them naturally. We haven't had that for the last year. So basically we as humans need to get small bits of germs and such to let our immune system build up resistance. Without that years down the road the common cold could turn deadly. (a little over dramatized but still). I slowly stopped wearing my mask in specific areas that I knew there were few people. And slowly but surely I stopped wearing it most places. There are some stores that I won't go into with a mask because I am a judgy person of the people that enter certain stores. And in any hospital building or medical building here you still HAVE to wear a mask regardless. It's not perfect but this is the messed up world we live in. I didn't want to stop wearing a mask because I didn't want to be judged lol but I got over that real quick.
I also do not wear a mask everywhere, like when walking outside in nature for example. And I totally agree with you and your sister. The next flu-wave will be a hard one for our immune systems. But I still think that we should try to avoid spreading it in crowded places like shops, trains, busses etc. So for me it's a wrong step at the wrong time. I guess we could discuss that until the pandemic is over... 😬
yeah at the end of the day nobody is right until the dust settles and we see where the chip lay. And while I totally think that if you are feeling sick stay your ass at home. If you have any symptons stay at home. While I think our Health should be our #1 priority it's hard for me to not see the devastation this pandemic has had on our economy and we need everything reopened and COVID free. If we had to wear masks for the next 2 years I would do it BUT I also wonder about the health consequences because of it. Sure we are protecting ourselves now but at some point we are going back to 100% no mask. ugh this is hard to decide lol
