The Wake Up Call
This life is known- To be a gush of wind That perishes in a fleeting time It falls as it rises So, You who keeps procrastinating; Turning and studying Walking down the paths You’ve already travelled, Profoundly wondering and, Sightlessly wandering – fretting Do you ever know – That you’re bothering yesterday While today is slipping away? Do you ever pause – To remember that this life, Not even tomorrow is promised? What becomes of you – When your eyes shut forever And your flesh dries? What becomes of your dreams – When you get hidden in the earth’s stomach That knows no sating? I take this pen of mine to be my beak I want to be the noisy bird That perches close to your window, Chirp shrilly to wake you up from your slumber I want you to arise And realise that today’s sun is already up, And leaving. ***The Untamed Ink***
