🕊️ “Read this if you feel like you're behind in life…”
Some days, you scroll through social media and wonder:
“How are people doing so well?”
One friend is already in their final year.
Another just got their first car.
Someone else is traveling, getting married, making money, launching a business.
And you’re still trying to figure out where to even begin.
---
Truth is, most of us are quietly afraid we’re behind.
But what nobody tells you is that life doesn’t run on one clock.
Some people graduate at 21 and can’t find work until 27.
Some marry at 23 and divorce at 30.
Some don’t start earning real money until their 30s.
We all have our own timing — and it’s valid.
---
> You may not have it all figured out.
You may feel slow, confused, stuck.
But that doesn’t mean you're behind.
It just means your story is still unfolding.
---
> I’m writing this because I’ve felt it too.
The quiet panic. The shame. The feeling that everyone else is moving faster.
But what healed me is knowing this:
🌱 “Comparison kills purpose.”
You weren’t meant to live someone else’s timeline.
You were meant to walk your own — even if it looks slow, even if no one claps for you yet.

> If this post touched something in you… don’t keep it to yourself.

Tell me your story.
Or just say “I’m here too.”
And if you’re looking for a small safe space to feel heard — my community is open for you. 💙

She was my only friend and I didn't even know she was dying
---
💔 It Hit Me Hard. It Really Happened.
It really hit me.
I didn’t want to believe it — but it happened.
She was my only real friend.
The one person who knew me for real — the loud laugh version of me, the “I’m tired of this school” version, the me that used to cry over assignments and dance anyhow after school.
We finished secondary school together.
Wrote WAEC together.
Took graduation pics like we owned the world.
We even said, “No matter what happens in uni, we won’t stop talking.”
But you know how life be sometimes...
We both got admitted — different schools, different states.
At first, we’d still talk small.
“Hey babe, how’s school?”
“Omo, you won’t believe what happened in my hostel today…”
But over time, the chats reduced.
She’d call me randomly — even late at night.
I’d ignore it.
Or look at the screen and go, “I’ll call her later.”
But I didn’t.
She’d send stuff like:
> “Can I talk to you?”
“I just need to hear your voice.”
“You free?”
And sometimes she’d ask for ₦1k... or even ₦2k.
I had the money, but I didn’t send it.
I told myself she was being dramatic.
Maybe lazy sef.
I said, “Abeg, we’re all going through things. I can't carry her own too.”
Eventually… she stopped calling.
Stopped texting.
Stopped posting WhatsApp updates.
I didn’t even notice.
Then one random day in our secondary school class group…
Her number popped up.
But it wasn’t her.
> “Hi everyone. This is Joy’s cousin. She passed away two nights ago.”
“She took her own life.”
I froze.
Legit couldn’t breathe for a minute.
Suicide?
I kept reading.
They said she had been going through it — real stuff.
Depression. Hunger.
Even harassment.
Always locked up in her room.
Sometimes no food.
And the so-called “friends” around her? Just users.
She felt alone. She was alone.
She tried to reach out… and nobody really saw her.
Then it hit me again — the calls.
The messages.
The voice notes I didn’t open.
The “I just want to talk” I ignored.
She was crying for help... silently.
And I wasn’t there.
That night I cried like a child.
I cried for all the things I didn’t do.
For all the “maybe if...” questions.
If I had just picked the call.
If I had sent the ₦1k.
If I had replied one message...
Maybe she’d still be here.
Now all I have is screenshots. And regret.

🖤 A Note to You Reading This
Please.
Check on your people.
Even if you’re angry.
Even if they “seem okay.”
Even if it’s been long.
Pick that call.
Reply that chat.
Send that ₦500 if you can.
Sometimes people don’t need solutions — they just want someone to care.
Because one day… it might be too late.

Welcome to life thread
👋🏽 Hey you,
Welcome to Life Threads 🌿
This is not just another page. It’s a space for people who feel deeply.
For those who’ve had long days, silent nights, loud thoughts.
A place where you can just be — no pressure, no pretending.
Here, we share life.
The real side of it — university stress, family drama, confusing friendships, heartbreaks, healing, lessons, laughter.
And maybe, just maybe, we remind each other that we’re not alone in all this.

🩷 Short Story: The Quiet Girl in Room 3
There was this girl.
She stayed in Room 3. Never really talked to anyone. She didn’t post in group chats. Didn’t sit out with the others.
Most people just called her proud. Some said she was forming. Others said she was just “not friendly.”
But one night, someone found her sitting by the stairs. Her eyes were red. She looked like she’d been crying for hours.
They didn’t plan to talk to her. Just wanted to pass. But something said “stay.”
So they sat with her. No pressure.
They talked about random things — the lecturer that shouts too much, hostel gist, movies, songs.
And suddenly, she laughed. Genuinely. Like someone finally opened a window in her chest.
She didn’t need a crowd.
She didn’t even need advice.
She just needed one person who stayed.
Since that day, they became friends. Nothing dramatic. Just slow, calm friendship.
And that quiet girl? She started to smile more. Not always. But sometimes. And that was enough.

💭 So today I want to ask:
What’s something that’s been heavy on your heart lately?
Something you’ve not told anyone… but wish someone would ask about?
You don’t have to explain everything.
But this space is open — for you, your thoughts, your story.
You never know…
Someone here might read your comment and think,
> “Finally. Someone who gets it.”

So take a breath. Then type something — anything.
Let’s talk. Let’s heal. Let’s grow — together. 💛

🎓 UNIVERSITY LIFE: From“I can't wait to enter school” To “who sent me??” 😂📚
🎓 UNIVERSITY LIFE: FROM “I CAN’T WAIT TO ENTER SCHOOL” TO “WHO SENT ME??” 😂📚
Hey beautiful people! 🌺
It’s your girl here — just a Nigerian university student trying to survive and stay sane in this wild place called campus. 😩
When I first got admission, I was excited. Like really excited. I imagined freedom, grown girl vibes, cute backpacks, late-night group reading that actually works, and mature friendships that feel like Netflix movies. 🥰
But now… 😭 I just want to talk. Please, sit down. Let's gist.
---
😩 CLASS REPS BE MOVING LIKE CELEBRITIES
Let’s start with the so-called class reps. Who gave them that power?? 🤷🏽♀️
Once they get that position, they start acting like they were chosen by the gods, not just elected to forward lectures and post exam dates. 😒 You’ll say “hi” and they’ll look at you like you just disrespected royalty. Excuse me sir/ma, you’re just a student like the rest of us o.
And don’t even get me started on when they forward a voice note by 10PM that there's class by 7AM, and if you miss it, "you’re on your own." 😂
---
🥹 SECONDARY SCHOOL FRIENDS? LOL.
Before entering uni, I swore I’d always keep in touch with my secondary school friends. I had plans to visit each other, send voice notes, and be besties forever.
Reality? I can’t even remember half of their surnames again. 😭 University will just swallow you like that. You think you’ll have time — but between assignments, survival, and washing plates you didn’t even use (thanks to your roommate), you forget the group chat even exists. 💔
---
😵 LECTURE TIMETABLE IS A TRAP
Uni timetable is like someone playing games with your life.
Class by 7PM? Who invented that evil plan?
Class cancelled after you’ve dressed, trekked 20 minutes in the sun and climbed 2 buildings? Yep.
Or worse, that “unaware class” where you just see people rushing somewhere and you realize something is happening — and you missed the memo. 🙃
Then boom, they tell us “exam is Monday” on FRIDAY — like we don’t deserve preparation, just vibes and survival instinct. 😩
---
⚡ THE STRUGGLES YOU NEVER EXPECTED
Nobody told us about this part:
No light for 3 days straight.
No network unless you go and stand under that mango tree near the gate. 🙃
No water — so you wake up 5AM to go queue for it with your “keg squad.” 😭
Honestly, “Who send me come school?” crosses my mind at least once a week.
---
😑 HOSTEL WAHALA: PORTERS AND ROOMMATES
Let’s talk about that annoying porter who acts like she owns the entire school. You come back late by 9PM (not even 10), and she’s shouting like you committed a crime. Ma, I just went to read o.
And if your roommate is a busybody, then forget peace. She knows everybody’s business — including yours, even if you didn’t tell her. She’ll borrow your charger without asking, leave her hair all over the bathroom, and then gossip about you on the phone like she’s auditioning for Big Brother. 😩
---
💔 OPPRESSION IS REAL
Then there’s the oppression. You see people dressing like they came for fashion week while you’re just trying to survive on your ₦500 budget. Some girls don’t repeat outfits for two weeks straight — meanwhile, you’re rewashing your jeans at night like it’s sacred cloth. 😭
Their phones are iPhones. Yours is hanging when you try to check WhatsApp. Their wigs are 30 inches. Yours is struggling like it has seen things. 😭😂
---
🧘🏽♀️ BUT SOMEHOW… WE MOVE!
With all the madness, uni life still teaches you something: how to be strong, smart, and adaptable. You’ll laugh till your stomach hurts. You’ll cry into your pillow. You’ll meet people that change your life (both good and not-so-good ones).
You’ll become you — just a little more mature, a little more tired, but a lot more powerful. 🩷
---
