What are the Benefits of Having a Dog
Dogs are said to be a man's best buddy. The benefits of owning a dog include balance, emotional well-being, and unconditional affection. Spending time in the company of these fuzzy creatures is also a wonderful joy. Dogs give genuine social support, improve physical and psychological health, promote happiness, and reduce stress in people.
There are several advantages to owning a dog.
Firstly, dogs are beneficial to one's health. They assist patients in coping with anxiety and improving their general mental health, among other things. Furthermore, dogs are frequently employed to assist patients in recovering from life-threatening disorders like as cerebral palsy and trauma.
Secondly, dogs bring societal benefits through influencing the well-being of their owners. Pets make people happier, boost their self-esteem, and help them avoid depression. Individuals who keep dogs are more socialized and have closer relationships with significant people in their life than those who do not.
Thirdly, dogs both prevent and alleviate stress. These creatures are renowned for their ability to help humans relax and de-stress. Dogs are the finest listeners, and they are unconcerned with what humans are thinking or doing. When someone is depressed or unhappy, a dog may provide a stress vent and help them feel better.
Fourthly, dogs increase one's mood. Stroking a dog can help to lower blood pressure and create emotional harmony. People who are in a poor mood might benefit from the gaze of a pet dog.
Fifthly, dogs provide protection and safety in the household. When a stranger knocks on the door, dogs get exceedingly defensive. Furthermore, a barking dog may deter many would-be robbers and invaders.
Sixthly, dogs have a positive impact on youngsters. Children who own dogs fare better in school and have greater achievement. Furthermore, raising, feeding, and taking frequent walks instil a sense of responsibility.
Dogs have a good impact on human health and well-being. They contribute to the development of communication skills and a feeling of responsibility, as well as building and maintaining family bonds. Dogs also improve people's sentiments of well-being and devotion, secure their protection, and even save their lives.
Dogs are one of the most common pets. There is a reason why these creatures are referred to as a man's best friend. The intellect, loyalty, affection, and dedication that dogs possess are extremely gratifying. Having a dog can help to lift your mood. Furthermore, going on a stroll together, sitting at home together, or being welcomed by a joyously wagging tail all contribute to a feeling of happiness. These are the primary reasons behind the high number of dog owners. What's more essential is that dogs may have a significant social impact on people's lives. People who are lonely can obtain a dog to help them overcome their social isolation. Dogs also boost people's health, aid communication, and break the ice. As a result, owning a dog is advantageous because dogs bring emotional well-being, balance, and unconditional acceptance of who we are.
Despite the fact that dogs give significant social support, improving owners' happiness, well-being, and even physical health, few studies have been conducted to determine if all individuals benefit equally from having pets and if pets give social support to people in general. Dogs have long been recognized to provide a great deal of joy to their owners. However, few people are aware of the benefits and drawbacks of owning a dog, but it is important to be aware of them. The goal of our study is to look at the benefits of keeping a dog as a pet.
Promotion of Health
Close interaction with dogs has been demonstrated to decrease blood pressure and reduce anxiety in studies that have been conducted for over 25 years. The owners of dogs had lower blood pressure and heart rate than those who did not own them, according to a study of 240 married couples. Dog ownership is thought to be one of the strongest indicators of heart attack survival. It is also thought that having a pet, particularly a dog, lowers national health expenses.
Dogs are frequently employed to assist patients in recovering from life-threatening diseases. Dogs have been used in therapy since the late 18th century. In the company of dogs, patients' behavioural and psychological anxiety signs improved. Children were less likely to acquire a pet allergy when a dog remained continuously in the house, according to studies. Communication with our furry pals causes a higher activation of the immune system, according to Headey (1999).
Social Benefits
McConnel et al. (2011) devised and conducted three tests to determine how individuals gain from dog communication. It turned discovered that having a god has more benefits when one's social requirements are met by pets. People who own dogs are less likely to be depressed, are less lonely, have more self-esteem, and are generally happier. Dogs make excellent companions for individuals with impairments. The acceptability of dog guides in public venues is rather strong in many nations. Since the 9th century, dogs have been employed to help individuals with a range of physical and mental disorders.
The well-being of both owners and pets is intertwined. There is a correlation between sick pet care and the health of the owner. A stroll with a dog provides fresh air and opportunities for social connection. Moderate exercise and companionship may be obtained by walking with dogs or just caring for pets.
Reduced Stress
When a person is depressed or unhappy, a dog may provide a stress outlet and allow them to feel better. When their pets are there, people are less stressed when performing hard jobs. The presence of dogs in the workplace boosted employee morale.
Stroking a pet can help individuals relax when they are worried. Regular tension is relieved and mood is improved by feeding and playing with a dog. When things get rough, having a furry buddy may help relieve stress and provide comfort.
Mood Enhancement
Researchers believe that animals, particularly dogs, can improve people's moods. Animals are much simpler to deal with than people since they will unconditionally adore them regardless of their words or behaviours.
Home safety and security
Many prospective thieves are deterred by aggressive and barking dogs, according to studies. Because security systems are costly, using a dog as a home security system saves a lot of money. When a dog barks loudly, neighbours glance out the window and, if necessary, contact the cops.
Children and Dogs
According to psychologists, children who have dogs perform better in school. Regular walks, feeding, and raising children are said to instil a feeling of responsibility in them. Animals assist youngsters in being more focused. Many youngsters see dogs as friends, and they may learn a lot from the body language of animals.
Youngster psychologists overwhelmingly advocate having a dog for a child who lacks communication, is reserved, sceptical, or has other behavioural issues. Adopting a dog brings joy and companionship into one's household while also improving one's physical and emotional well-being. Dogs may help people cope with stress, enhance their health, alleviate loneliness, stimulate social contact and exercise, and bring affection, a sense of well-being, and unconditional love.
Students' workload should be reduced by teachers
Everyone is dealing with uncomfortable conditions they've never dealt with before as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. Our contemporary lives are filled with uncertainty about when social distance will no longer be required and when businesses and organizations will be able to resume normal operations. It's easy to feel that our lives will never return to normal since news channels are overloaded with panic-inducing information and predictions.
Despite this, many people are anticipated to continue doing about the same amount of educational and vocational work as they did before the new coronavirus became ubiquitous. Apart from having to deal with the unfathomable stress of the world's chaotic condition, everyone's current living circumstance has its own set of pressures.
Many individuals are concerned about their families and their own health, as well as their financial security, obtaining enough food and household supplies, and addressing physical and mental health issues that may be exacerbated by the epidemic. Others may not be living in healthy conditions and may be living in continual anxiety and worry, with no way of fleeing during the quarantine.
Although many managers, instructors, and advisers have genuinely reduced their workload to make this difficult period more tolerable, not everyone has done so. Some leaders are having trouble grasping the fact that their students and workers are likely to confront some type of adversity that makes it difficult for them to perform as well as they would otherwise. Because of this, Individuals are being overburdened with non-essential tasks as a result of this.
Students aren't getting nearly as much assistance and resources as they did in person as schools around the country migrate to online platforms. When their workload stays the same as before classes moved online, the loss of in-person resources causes challenges. Because many students and instructors, particularly in low-income public schools, lack familiarity with and access to technology, teachers are unable to broadcast their classes for students to study face-to-face. Instead, pupils are expected to teach themselves through prescribed readings, which cannot match to the efficiency of direct teaching from a teacher.
The majority of college students choose their institution based on its academic resources, which have subsequently been substantially altered as a result of the epidemic. Perhaps they choose a college because of the lecture sessions, labs, or teacher-to-student ratio, believing that these environments would allow them to study best. Every student has a favorite mode of studying, but they are now all obliged to complete their courses utilizing remote learning's restricted capabilities. Without the framework of in-person classes, some students will struggle to learn well online.
Of course, these changes aren't the institution's fault, but they should try to relieve their students and professors of any non-essential obligations if at all possible. We want students to keep learning at this difficult time, and schoolwork may be a welcome distraction from the present crisis. Teachers and professors, on the other hand, should reduce their workloads drastically so that their pupils have more time and energy to preserve their physical and mental health.
Although it may appear like students have nothing better to do because they are all confined at home, this does not always imply that we are all wasting our time. Many students must continue work, care for family members, and maintain their own health. Furthermore, in such uncertain times, it's difficult to find the drive to finish schoolwork when we don't know where we'll be in a month or two, let alone next semester.
Because everyone is living their life one day at a time, term papers and online tests appear to be insignificant. Teachers, although you can provide an abundance of learning opportunities, please reduce your course load. This is a one-of-a-kind circumstance, and we should all focus our efforts on being safe and healthy. Survival cannot wait for education.
Habitat for Humanity (Asia Pacific)
*Everyone has a nice place to live in a world like this.*
In Asia-Pacific, there is an urgent demand for sufficient housing options. According to UN figures, this area is home to half of the world's poor - those living on less than US$1.90 a day. One in every two slum residents lives in Asia-Pacific, despite rising urbanization. A person who lives in Asia-Pacific is also five times more likely than someone who lives elsewhere to be affected by a disaster, increasing the risk of death. A person living in Asia-Pacific is also five times more likely than someone living abroad to be affected by a disaster, increasing the risk of losing their home.
*We empower ourselves by providing shelter.*
Habitat for Humanity began as a grassroots movement in 1976, driven by the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and has now grown to become a prominent worldwide NGO working in more than 70 countries. Since 1983, Habitat for Humanity has helped millions of individuals in the Asia-Pacific area construct or modify a house. Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam are among our countries of operation.
*Habitat's Operation*
Habitat for Humanity has been bringing families, volunteers, donors, and supporters together for decades to build good houses that provide the groundwork for a better life. Working in a diverse region like Asia-Pacific needs creative and collaborative solutions to complex housing issues. We need people-public-private partnerships to enhance access to adequate and affordable housing and to create more inclusive housing markets.
*Taking advantage of collaborations*
Habitat for Humanity collaborates with all sectors – community, government, private sector, and civic — to make a real impact in the lives of people by providing sufficient, affordable homes. Volunteers are sometimes referred to as Habitat's "hands and hearts." Others provide finances or make a gift, while international volunteers on Global Village projects or local volunteers at construction locations donate their work. There are also some that offer technical assistance, as well as many more who advocate for the need for good housing.
Volunteer leaders on the Asia-Pacific Development Council are among our dedicated champions. They offer strategic leadership and direction for Habitat for Humanity's program and resource development projects in the region. They are influential in the business and philanthropic sectors.
We think that today's young are the leaders who will enable us to build cities and human settlements that are inclusive, sustainable, and resilient. Young Leaders Construct is a Habitat for Humanity program that encourages youngsters from all around the Asia-Pacific region to take the lead and inspire their peers to build houses and communities on Habitat build sites and/or online. The teenagers also generate finances and awareness for sufficient, affordable housing, as well as lending their voices to the cause.
Habitat for Humanity provides affordable housing to families in need through the generosity of individuals and in-kind donations. We provide households with inexpensive lending solutions by partnering with microfinance organizations. We accelerate multi-year, multi-component community and sector development initiatives for greater impact by collaborating with foundations, organizations, and institutions.
In 2018, Habitat for Humanity celebrated 35 years of creating strength, stability, and self-reliance in the Asia-Pacific area via housing. Zhimin's father had worked with Habitat to build a new home in Guangzhou, southern China, more than ten years ago. Zhimin intends to construct another floor to the house now that he is a parent, so that his two girls may have their own rooms. “I am really delighted that my children are growing up in a safe and clean environment,” he says. They won't have to go through the hardships I did when I was younger.” We empower ourselves by providing shelter.
Riding Bicycles: Pandemic’s New Trend
In today’s generation, there are many trends that people would love to do it, hiking/trekking on the mountains, travelling somewhere and many more. But due to the pandemic, we cannot do this anymore because of having safety protocols. For us, it stopped the world for a while. Though the world stopped, the people are finding ways to still exercise through walking, jogging and especially biking. Yes! Biking is the highest trending because we can still travel to other places. Today, I will give you the definition of bicycle and its history.
Did you know that “Bicycle” also called bike is a two-wheeled steerable machine that is used by pedalled by the biker’s feet. Its standard wheels are mounted in-line in a metal frame with a front wheel held in a rotatable fork. Bikers should sit on a saddle and steers to move the bike. Our feet should turn pedals attached to cranks and chain wheel. The power is transmitted by a loop of chain connected to the chain wheel to the rear wheel. Riding it is easily mastered because bikes can be ridden with just a little effort at a distance of 16-24 kilometres which is 10-15 miles per hour and about 4 to 5 times the pace of walking. It is efficient yet devised to convert a human energy into mobility. People used it for transportation whether going to work or going to school, for recreational, and it is a popular sport which is cycling. Most of the people are using it to move goods in every area that a car can’t do into and also for the people who doesn’t have cars. In general, there are twice as many as bicycles than automobiles. They can sold three bikes than a car that is only one per day. The countries who promote bicycle for shopping and commuting are Netherlands, Denmark and Japan. In the US, they really constructed bike paths to those bikers so that they can save energy, to avoid accident and it is alternative to automobiles.
Many historians disagree about the invention of the bicycle. Many dates are change, most likely, no one qualifies as the inventor of the bicycle and how the evolution through the efforts of many. Though Leonardo da Vinci was credited to be the inventor with such having sketched of a bicycle in 1942 in his Codex Atlanticus, its drawing was discovered to be a counterfeit added in the 1960’s. There was another presumed bicycle ancestor, vélocifère, or célérifère. It was the 1970’s fast horse-drawn coach which considers being the predecessor of the bicycle. Another two-wheeled rider-propelled machine for which there is undisputed evidence was the draisienne invented by Baron Karl von Drais de Sauerbrum of Germany. In 1817, he rode it for 14 kilometres or 9 miles and the following year, he exhibited it in Paris. He called his device as the Laufmaschine or “running machine” and it became popular through the years. At first, it was made of wood, the seated rider propelled himself by paddling by feet against the ground, its balance board supported the rider’s arms. The granted patent copies were granted to von Drais and soon being produced to the other countries (including Great Britain, Austria, Italy and United States). Later in 1818, draisienne was purchased by Denis Johnson of London. He patented it and improvised the model as the “pedestrian curricle.” And the following year, he produced more than 300 and they became famous as the hobby-horses. As expected, it was very expensive and mostly of the buyers were members of the nobility. Well-known caricaturist in that year called it “dandy horses” and the riders sometimes booed in public. Its design was to raise health concerns and riding proved impossible except on the smooth roads. Suddenly, it lasted for six months only because draisienne-hobby-horse fad didn’t lead to sustained development of two-wheeled vehicles but von Drais and Johnson established could remain balanced while in motion.
There is also evidence that a small number of two-wheeled machines with a rear treadle drives were built in Southwestern Scotland during in the early 1840’s. Kirkpatrick Macmillan which was a blacksmith of Dumfriesshire that time. He is most often associated with these, said to be that he travelled 40 miles which 64 kilometres to Glasgow in 1842, Though the documentation is problematic. Gavin Dalzell of Lesmahagow probably built a similar two-wheeled machine in the mid-1840’s and said to have operated it for many years. The heavily restored machine in Glasgow Museum of Transport, it consists of wooden wheels and iron rims. A rider’s feet swung treadles back and forth and the moving pair of rods was connected to cranks on the rear wheels. A Scotsman named Thomas McCall also built similar machines in the late 1860’s. The documents indicate the late Alexandre Lefèbvre of Saint-Denis, France, built a two-wheeled velocipede powered by a treadles connected to cranks in the rear wheeled in the year 1842.
Did you know that the word bicycle came into use in the year 1868 to replace the old name vélocipède de pedale. It is the first velocipede that is powered by pedals mounted on the front wheel and was built in Paris on early 1860’s but still there is no concluding comments or evidence that proves who really conceive the idea on applying pedals in the front (or anyone did so). A French mechanic, Pierre Lallament has evidence that He built and demonstrated such machine on the mid-1863 in Paris. That time also he was working with his boss named M. Strohmayer which is Parisian maker of carriages for the children and disabled persons. Mr. Lallement took some parts to build an improved velocipede and he went to US in 1865 and he completed his new “veloce”. The patent was issued in 1866 in the United States of America. In the early 1870, just as boneshaker was already developing into a bicycle called “The Ordinary,” Franco German War sets back the French Industry. The manufactured bicycle survived, but most of the developments took place in Britain.
You already knew already the history of a bicycle. I hope you learned about it. It is really important to know that a bicycle must be well-taken care of so that it would not be broken easily , each part must be checked from to time and well-cleaned of course.

Parents: A Beautiful Gift to be Cherished Forever
*From the first day that we are born, our parents spend all their time trying to bring us up, nourish us, teach us what is wrong and right things to do. Parents do whatever is in their hands to see that the needs of their children are met. Parents. Our parents make unconditional sacrifices and give up their lives for us*.
When we are young, our parents sacrifice their sleep and rest. They are the ones to wake up early and the last ones to go to sleep because they focused only on one goal, just to provide for our needs. Even though they are tired and they want to rest, they go through continuous hard work all day just to make sure that they have done everything for us. From giving us food to eat, giving us a comfortable shelter to live in, teaching us how to prepare the world, teaching us how to be a good citizen, and most importantly is how to be a great human being.
Parents do all this not to get any benefits from their children, but to build hope and belief that their children will become pious, more educated, and respectful to their parents, be useful to their families, community, society, country and a living example of success.
Sometimes, we leave our beloved parents heartbroken every single day. Every time we hurt our parents, we are hurting ourselves too. Who in the world has the guts to harm themselves? Taking into consideration the love that our parents gave to us, are we even thought for a moment what they have done just to make us happy? Are we grateful for what they have done for us? Have we shown our gratitude to them? Unfortunately, instead of respecting them back, loving them back, being grateful, and showing them our gratitude, we have always been complaining, hurting, and blaming them. By refusing to choose the right and positive attitude and thinking that whatever they have done for us is to restrict us in one way or the other is the biggest mistake that we do in our entire life.
We forget that our parents are the ones who taught us the precious meaning of life, they have are the ones who taught us how to live this life and lead a life that is full of contentment. They are the ones who give everything just to make us happy even in small or big things. Yet, sometimes we are being ungrateful and disrespectful towards them. We do not even pay heed to what they have to say from the beginning of our life and we just take it for granted.
To avoid this kind of attitude. It is our moral responsibility to take good care of our parents. Listening to and obeying our parents is the only way we can show our love and care to them. It is a way to show to them that their precious time way back in the days that were still very young to be a great human being has not gone in vain and they have been successful. This is all they want from us and we should prove and do everything to them that all their hard work and sacrifices are paid off.

In today's generation which has been made smaller and smaller by technologies, a new age of problems has been born today. There is no doubt that technology has a lot of benefits to people, however, it also comes with a more negative side because it has given birth to cyberbullying. To put it simpler cyberbullying refers to the misuse of technologies to harass others and give traumas.
Subsequently, bullying comes in many ways. It doesn't mean that hacking someone's profile to others or posing to be someone else in other people. Posting negative comments about somebody or spreading rumors to defame someone is also included.
Cyber bullying is also one of the most common issues. Cyber bullying includes actions to harass, manipulate, and defame any person's privacy and personal information. So, these hostile actions are seriously damaging the life of someone else and may affect anyone easily and gravely. A cyberbully is not necessarily a stranger one, it may also someone you know in person or social media.

We all k ow that there are various ways to tackle cyberbullying. We as an individual, we can implement them at the individual level as well as authoritative levels.
Firstly, to prevent this one, we should always teach the children and the youth to never share personal information on any online platforms or even on social media accounts. For example, if you list the address of your home or your contact number there, then you are allowing someone to know all your private information and, it will make you a potential target of cyberbullying easily.
Secondly, in every account of your social media avoid posting explicit photos of yourself. Also, never discuss personal matters in your life on social media. In conclusion, the key to online harassment is awareness. We should make the children not just the children but all the people aware from an early age so they are always cautious. Most importantly, cyberbullying must be reported instantly without any delays, so that this will prevent further incidents from taking place.

Complete Family vs. Broken Family
Before *I start differentiating these two, what kind* *of a family do you have right now? Is it a complete, happy, and blessed family or a broken family? How it is if all the families are complete and happy always. But the reality slapped that most of the families now are actually because of various reasons. And of the most common reason is that either the parents had an affair with others that makes the family miserable. Then, who will be the most affected by this catastrophe? Is it the mother, the father, or the children that never what is happening in their family? So, based on some studies and even in testimonies, that the children are the ones who will suffer the most. It will affect their healthy living towards their peers. And also it will affect their mental health.*
*“A complete family”*
*Complete family, it sounds happy, contented, and blessed. In this kind of family, all the members feel happier, joyful when they all gather. It is a dreamlike kind of family to everyone. In this kind of family, it seems that the parents are able o their children and support their plans for their future and, they can manage their own family. But the question is, How many complete families are there as of now? I’ve noticed that almost all families all over the world are broken. One of the issues of having this problem is “Teenage pregnancy” this may result in having a lot of broken family especially here in the Philippines. We can see all teenagers with the complete family and they are one of the luckiest.*
*“Broken Family”*
*When we heard the phrase “Broken family” it makes us wonder why? Why there are families who preferred to have broken families? Having a broken family is not easy. Especially that you don’t have siblings to lean on. I know that everyone wants to have a complete family, but the reality is that it is almost impossible to have a happy and complete family. As I observed, teenagers are the most people who are suffering from having a broken family because they tend to rebel against their parents even if they already know the consequences. As a result of this are crimes and pregnancy.*

The Beauty of Sitio Balongkot, Dansolihon CDOC
First of all, I would like to thank God above for his creations. When I first step the place called Balongkot, I was scared, worried and my heart pumps so fast. I don't know why. But as I get closer with the community, when I got to loved the place it feels like home. I can call it my 2nd home. I loved the place, the ambiance not just its "bukid" but I used to love the weather, cold weather in there. Most especially the people were friendly and I easily got attached to them. I was able to share my talent with them, I sang a song in their "video". People there were hospitable and most especially they were so generous. Yes, it's so tiring when you travel but whenever you reach the place it's relaxing and refreshing.
It was my privilege to have a great and build a memorable experience in that place. Every time I think of it, it makes me feel sad because I will not be able to experience the things that I used to experience before. What I love the most about that Place is the view, the cold weather, and of course it was away from the city. This place also has a hidden place that you must visit. The last time I went there together with my cousin is we go to a falls. The falls were so beautiful. The view was so good, it was located at the center of the mountain of Sitio Balongkot, Dansolihon.

Make a reflection on how a body measurement has a great impact in wearing our daily clothes.
Having an accurate body measurement, we can wear clothes that fit to us. Taking right body measurements is an important step in sewing clothes for us and for others. Through our body measurement, we will be able to know what are the exact sizes that we should wear if it is, small, medium, and large and etc. And for a tailoring shop, it should have also an accurate body measurement of a customer because it is vital for them. Without taking the exact body measurements, the fabric material can run out of supply if the tailor uses it too much. So when body measurements are taken accurately, the tailor will know the exact amount of material to be used in a dress. Sometimes they can even save the unused material for the other clothes stuff in designing. That is why it’s so important to know what you’re true sizes are. Because of this, we can decide what the clothes that we are wearing every day are. However, in today’s generation, there are a lot of people who are wearing oversize shirts, pants, dresses, shorts and etc. Why they are wearing clothes that are not fit to their exact body measurement? Maybe because, they are adopting what are the trends that they see or observed in their community. They are just trying to be cool and fabulous at the same time. As we observe also in every store that who are selling clothes, the designs that they posting or selling are new to us and that is why people are loved to buy clothes especially when clothes are branded and in a trend. But we should also bear in our minds that taking an accurate body measurement is important especially in a school uniform because if you will not follow the exact body measurement you will not look descent in your attire or in your school uniform. Not just school uniforms but also those important clothes that you wear every day in your job.
What important details should be kept in mind in dress designing?
The important details that we should be kept in our mind in dress designing are, first the colour. Colour because, in dress designing or in a fashion designing they look first what is the best colour that they used. Second is the silhouette, silhouette is one of the most important elements of fashion design. It has the basic shape, outline and style of the clothing. Third is the fabric, in a dress designing the type of fabric you choose for a design is very important because it represents how it will shape or look like. Fourth are balance and rhythm. By this you will be able to know the symmetry in the shapes, colours, style, and lines in a dress design, because when you have a proportionate and appropriate combination of lines, shapes, colours and texture in your design it can be result in different rhythms in your design. Fifth emphasis, because it gives an elements of design be more attractive and passion able to use, and it will brings attention to something beautiful to a design. Sixth are the design lines, it shows the shape of the waistline, neckline, and hemline. And lastly are the unity and proportion, proportion gives relationship of the various components of a garment and size or scale of the garment in relation to the size of the wearer. And unity is how all of the elements of a dress design like proportion, balance, rhythm, emphasis all come together and enhances each other.
Write a reflection about your design
As you can see in the picture above, my dress design is just simple. This dress is can be worn in any. It is a long sleeve type of dress with a V-shaped neckline and with a belt in the waist. The camouflage figure defects that I’ve chose are the first slim and tall figures because if you are a tall and slim type of woman this design will see what your exact body figure is. Second with small hips. This dress can look you have big hips because of the design. As you can see in the picture above there is a side pocket such as pockets, peplums, or drapes that will add width to the hips. Third figures with the short upper body, I chose this defect because this dress design can look better if you have a short upper body because these dropped waisted dresses that fall below the hipline are used to create an illusion of length on the upper body. And if you are long-legged women it is a nice dress for you to wear. Fourth, figures with wide shoulders, because there is a V-shaped or long neckline that will probably break the width of the shoulder. Lastly figures with short necks, about the figure with wide shoulders, yes it looks nicer if you have a short neck when you wear this because it has an open V-shaped neckline that will probably see your collar bones and chest. Lastly figures with wide shoulders, this is how I present and describe my design. We all know that fashion design is an exciting field. And it also takes a lot of work and be creative in the same way. Since I don’t have a passion for designing I can say that if you want to become a successful fashion designer in your way, you need to learn about drawing, learn about sewing, learn about designing, learn about fashion and learn about technology and resources as well.

There are many problems that Junk food gives us, but the main problem is people don’t realize its side effects or ill effects on our health. So when the time comes, it’s too late. This issue that not impact you instantly, but sooner or later you have to face the consequences. That is why it is better to stop it now before it’s too late for you to realize everything.
Every one of us can avoid eating junk foods especially children from an early age. We can encourage them to eat vegetables. Do you have relatives abroad? What was their life living outside the county? Why do you think they choose to live abroad than here in our country?
I don’t have any relatives abroad but there are some people I knew that worked there. As far as I knew working abroad is not an easy thing to them especially that they are far from their families. Some might say that there life in abroad is “hayahay” and some are saying that living there is not easy because of the environment and the people that surrounds them. They prefer to live and work abroad because of its high salary and better benefits compared here in our country. Second, peer pressure that pushed them to go abroad. Third, the advantage to work abroad because they have bigger opportunities and it’s a sad reality that our country is facing right now. However, living there makes their life easy and comfortable and that’s the way they can help their family and relatives.

Write a personal reflection about Patriotism. What does it mean to be a patriot?
For me, patriotism means supporting and loving our own country even when it's going through a rough situation or in a difficult time. We should still love our country, no matter what happened or even when things are not as you desire or you would like. The devotion to our country means we should stand with it, no matter what and working together to make our country to be better. And in addition, patriotism also means never losing faith in our country. And to be a patriot, means you have the love, the support, and defend your country with interest and devotion from others.
Are you agree or disagree with this statement? Why? (“A man, to become a man, must have a child to come after him”)
For me disagree, because not all children need to follow the will of their parents, each individual have own freewill to decide what’s best for them. The parents must understand their child’s decision and the only way that the parents must do is to motivate and to guide them all the way.
Do you still remember an epic about a certain place?
Way back november 2013; it was the day we celebrated all souls day. That was afternoon, when I was walking to the cemetery and I saw many people walking too. I was tired walking and I have no money to ride a vehicle which is “motorsikad” so I think about it on how to reach there without paying the driver. While I was walking, there was a “motorsikad” reaching upon me, so without hesitations I jumped into the back seat of it but the vehicle suddenly stopped and the driver said “hey! get down there because it will cause you harm and it might injured you” so I stepped down and I walked again. A few minutes ago, another one “motorsikad” is coming again and I jumped into it, but unfortunately, Bang! The vehicle rolled down and the worst is there are passengers on it, luckily they’re not harmed or injured. I was shocked, I don’t know what to do if I’ll run or just stay. The “motorsikad” has a lot of damaged like, the front wheel got loosens and got into the drainage canal and the shock is broken. I tried to run on the situation but I faced it and they reported it to my family, they scolded me for what I’ve done and paid for the damage of the vehicle. It was funny after all and until now I can still remember clearly how epic, funny and embarrassing I’ve done before.

The smile that I did not used for a while,
Time goes by memories are fading for no reasons
Doing things that gave me lessons
For that day I visit the place
The sky, the road, and heat of the sun reminds me of the place
The scenic beauty around the place
Give my mind and my heart at pace
As I step closer, the Air of the nature fill my empty attention
The mountain hills want me to attract in any intention

She realized that she has also a fault. 3 months ago, when she was alone in their home, she was wondering, it's almost 3 months that she has no menstrual period. But before that she searches how to use PT, when you saw a two-line it means your pregnant. When PT slowly appears the one line her beat is so fast and when there is one line on the other side, she was shocked and there is water coming out in her eyes. She was sitting in the corner of her room. She never knows what she will do because she's not ready to become a mother. She has so many money dreams to reach for her family. She was starting to panic in her room. She did not believe that on that mistake she does a wrong action that will destroy the trust of her parents.
This was the biggest secret that she hides from her parents and her friends. After two weeks, when she was alone again, she buys a lot of alcoholic drinks and cigarettes. She locked her rooms all day. She was crying and crying, she drinks beer and takes some cigarettes. She never knew that it was not good for the baby. And when she stands up because she wasn't to pee. When she turned on the light, she did not notice that there is a lot of blood coming out from her because she was so drunk, and after a second she was collapse.
Early morning, when Cynthia woke, she saw the two important faces that make her smile. Her mom and her dad. Her mom was crying while hugging Cynthia. She asks her mom why is she crying? Why she is in the hospital, and also her dad hugs her. When her mom talking to talk, "Cynthia my love, why did you that, why did you did not tell us that your pregnant? Why your drinking beers and the worst is trying to smoke some cigarettes? Why Cynthia? Why?". Cynthia can't talk, she was speechless, she was crying, she doesn't know how to explain it to them. When she wasn't to start to talk, her dad said that "your baby is gone", when Cynthia heard it from her dad. She was shocked, there is money water coming out in her eyes. She was shouting, she was being wild, she can't even believe that her baby is gone.
After 6 months of moving on, Cynthia realized that life is short, life is priceless and we need to take good care of it. Cynthia is still hanging out with her friends but now she knows what she will do. And also her parents always remind her that, when there is a problem you should open it up so that we will be able to give some advice to you. Every day they were hanging out but the lesson that she learned is still in her mind and her heart. Only her parents know the issue, she hides it to her friends and it is also to make it private because her parent doesn't want to bash her. They just protecting their daughter from all the bad humor out there. And now, Cynthia can still smile, she can still show to the world her beautiful smile and be positive all day. Even if behind those beautiful smiles are a painful memory that no one can replace.
The lesson that you can get about this is when you commit a decision in life, think of it first before you go because we don't know what are the consequences at the end of the day.
Dogs Are Man’s Best friend
Dogs. If we hear these words some of us are happy. There are many reasons why we call them a man’s best friend. In a dog’s behavior, we can learn a lot of things from them, like their personality, resiliency, demeanor, and their willingness to provide their family members with their unconditional love, their loyalty, and their companionship to their very last breath.
Dogs are friendly and they love and seek human companionship. Who can’t be relaxed at the sight of a happy dog when he waited for you at the end of a hard day? A dog doesn’t judge you. A dog doesn’t care about how you dressed nor if you’re just had a really bad day. No matter how your situation goes through, your dog is there and happy to see you. They will greet you with the same enthusiasm every time you walk in that door.
Aside from dogs waits for you by that door facing smiling, wide mouth open and tail wagging, Dogs are also playful. Dogs love physical activities such as running, fetching sticks, walking in the park or outside of the house, etc. Since dogs run, they will join you for a jog or a day in a Frisbee game. Dogs also can be cuddly and ready at any time for a loving reassuring hug.
There are some instances that dogs can be trained and there are some dogs also that cannot be trained and it depends on the owner. They said that dogs can be trained so that they can easily cohabitate with us in our human-built dwellings to them. They can also be trusted by other people and act appropriately around other people especially in public places.
Our dogs can be our family members in our homes. Our dogs are always hanging out with us, there for us day and night. They can be both our indoors and outdoors dogs but not all the time. They play a big part in our family life, even when the family isn’t around. Some dogs can readily go places with us everywhere, especially on a family vacation. Because since they can travel with us and part of our family, they are our companions that other animals can’t.
A dog has several shapes, sizes and they are also beautiful animals to admire and to look at. Starting from their big beautiful eyes and lovely faces, to their sleek, soft, shiny coats to the tips of their joyfully wagging tails, that is why dogs are a pleasure to behold. Like the other animals, dogs are one of the animals that have a lot of different breeds to choose from, everyone has the courage what kind of a dog they want, whether large or small, long or short-muzzled, long-haired or short-haired, straight or curly hair haired, with an elegant face or a comical face and in any numbers of colors.
As what I’ve said that dogs us the best of themselves, their love, loyalty, unconditional acceptance and affection, and their playfulness and companionship towards us. For the return, we owe them our best, not just the best but the best care that we can give them, including their health, and have constant access to clean water and comfortable shelter from the hot heat of the sun and the cold weather. Regular brushing and on-going veterinary care plus annual vaccinations.
Above all, Dogs deserve gentle handling not just dogs but also other animals that being part of our life. For me, since I love dogs, they are deserved to have an abundance of our time and attention. Our love for them makes a dog’s world go round as much as our love makes our world go round. Every time we give our freedom to our love dogs, we can receive also their love in return. I can probably say that dogs can truly be men and women and at the same time children’s best friends, and we us their owners we should be honored to be theirs, as well.
The two Important Applications used in 2020 Online Classes (Google Meet and Google Classroom)
Due to what is happening in the entire world, covid 19 has rapidly affected our day to day life routines. It has come as a surprise, to some of us, and has changed the way we live and the things we did daily. A regular class is now an online class. The children that should be sent to school is now taking the modular mode in where their parents should be their teacher. And as college students, a regular class that should be done in school is now a home school. So, today I will introduce to you the 2 important application that we used in our online classes, not just us but a majority of the students nowadays are using these apps.
GOOGLE MEET
Instead of going to school every day to learn new things, now we are learning from home. So today, when a student and a teacher can't physically meet face to face it doesn't mean that they can't do it through video. In using Google Meet, it will give us also the personal connection that is missing from face to face class time. It will help us also to communicate using our facial expressions, intonation, and body language. And this application is quick and easy to use, but there are some instances that because of poor internet connection it will take a minute to join in a meeting. And google meet is a great creative outlet because we can present video presentations or any PowerPoint in discussing a particular topic in your lesson.
How to use Google meet to do live Online Classes?
In this application, you can do some instructions, you can hold group discussions or reports. Here are some steps to start a live video call or online classes: first, download the application or you can also go to meet.google.com. Click "Join or start meeting" you can mute your mic and camera at the same time. Second, start your meeting. Third, engage in your meeting. And lastly, take action on the other participants. You can do the oral recitation if your name is called by your instructors. http://meet.google.com
How was your experience in using this Application?
For me, since I am already a college student so far my experience using this application is good. But sometimes there are technicals due to the internet connection. At first, I don't know how to use this app but as time goes by I know how to use it not just for me but also for my classmates. I was amazed because every time we have group reporting we can present our PowerPoint presentation. We can mute our camera's and audio when someone is talking to our class.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Aside from the Google Meet. There is also a Google Classroom. This google classroom is very useful and it enables the teachers to create an online classroom area in which they can manage all the documents and modules that their students need. All the documents inside the google classroom are stored on Google Drive because each subject in the google classroom has its folder is where all the documents will be compiled. But what's the difference between Google classroom from Google Drive or What makes them separate is the teacher and students interface. Google is designed for the way teachers and students work and think together.
What does Google Classroom do in an Online Class?
Google Classroom provides a teacher and student-friendly way of managing classroom documents. So, here’s what you can do with Google Classroom:
First, make assignments: if you were the teacher, the main thing you will do with Google Classroom is making homework assignments for your students. When you want to create an assignment, you can upload the necessary documents/modules for the students to read or work on. To get notified, your students will receive an e-mail notification of a new assignment or module that you upload in the google classroom. And when the students want to submit their work they will just“turn in”.
Second, make announcements: like the other applications, you can do a quick announcement for the entire class. All you have to do is to type in the announcements which are e-mailed to all your students in the class.
Lastly, is it allows students to interact: Students and teachers can comment on assignments and announcements, and as well as e-mail to each other through the Classroom interface.
How was my experience in using Google Classroom?
I can say that I am fortunate enough to be one of these testers of Google Classroom since we are starting taking online classes. I can say that google Classroom may be the perfect tool that a teacher can use to flip a lesson or an entire class. Google Classroom also is easy to manipulate. We cannot only access and review the contents in our modules, but also it has a safe avenue for online discussions and can also clarify misconceptions.
In conclusion, these two Applications can be both help the teacher and students to interact with. Teachers should be using google meet in the classroom just to make the most out of distance learning. While in the google classroom it is probably the best described as a good start. Google Classroom is a great tool for students and teachers.

Introduction
We all know that teenage pregnancy is one of the hot issues in these days, aside from having the covid 19 pandemic. Every month the case of teenage pregnancy are increasing because there are a lot of young women nowadays who tries to commit this kind of action. As part of this new generation I can say that our world especially my country Philippines are increasing its population. There are some people that they did not take it seriously to do this act in which did not suit to their age. In these days, as I observed one of the reasons why young girls commit this, it is because of the social media. Yes because of social media like; TV, INTERNET, MOVIES and etc. by this they can get more knowledge about what they seen, they are more knowledgeable than what their school thought to them.
HERE ARE SOME CAUSES OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY WHY THEY DO THIS
The number one major causes of teenage pregnancy are the absence of parental guidance in their parents. In the current situation in our society nowadays towards teenage pregnancy, parents are either too busy in their work or too permissive. Part of the basic needs in a child is the guidance of their parents towards them. In this generation especially teenage girls, go through interesting situations, and changes in which they really need the parental support to understand and accept the changes. When a teen girl lack of this affectionate supervision from their parents they used to seek answers from their boyfriends who is really there for them and it will ends up with a pregnancy.
Next major cause is peer pressure. As a child grows to their teenage hood, there are increased of pressure that fit into a certain group. There are positive and negative effects that peers bring to us. Example for positive is, they will help you to increase your self-confidence. In a way that they will motivate you every day when you’re feeling down and they support you all the way. In the negative side is, drastic changes in behaviour and attitudes. Peers may then push you to do bad acts in order to fit well in their group. And in addition, is the lack of sex education in schools to teenage girls not just too teenage girls but also all the youth that contributed to increase the teen pregnancy. This is because it will lead to the tolerant activities without understanding the possible effects. Therefore, it is important to let teen girls and all of the youth to understand the issues surrounding sex and their sexuality as well as, the possible impacts.
EFFECTS OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY
Getting into this commitment is not easy for the teenagers. It is because they might get infected with STD’s, HIV/AIDS and not just their self will be infected to this, but also their children are at risk. Teenage pregnancy also brings about the physical and psychological trauma, since she faced with many dilemmas that will exposed her by her family and the society. And for the families, it makes the parents feel ashamed because as what their children did. And lastly, teenage pregnancy has a big impact and has a large contributed to child poverty since many of the girls are forced to drop out of school and to take good care of their babies.
IN CONCLUSION
Teenage pregnancy is a problem to the entire society and community. But moreover, since it brings a large factors in each society, there is also an obligation of each member of the entire society including parents, teachers, and people around the community, and teenagers themselves to participate in addressing the issue.
Exploring and Doing Adventures in Life insights
Life is short. This line made me realize a simple thing in life and that is to explore and make some adventurous experiences in life. In our life doing some adventures is the most enjoyable experience in life. There is a lot of happiness and joy in it but there are some that are full of risks. We all know that a person who does adventure activities are great. The experience and the enthusiasm that you felt when you're doing any adventure together with another person can never be compared to the other's experience and enthusiasm. Possess and receive, all the bliss and joy from your discovered adventure activities. Sometimes I do compare little things, like without experiencing adventurous activities our life is like a body without a heart. And there are some instances might people say that without experiencing risk in our life is like an empty book.
Doing adventures makes our life precious, valuable, and meaningful. Some might say that we should try to take a risk at least once in our life because it will give us much courage to do and happiness to feel and it will teach us to live a long life. Way back in the year 2018. When me and my classmate I at the same time my friend as well, we went to Lantapan Bukidnon for Educational Purposes in our subject science. The task that we should do is to have an interview in a particular Native Group which Talaandig. As we go along with that place I was so amazed it was our first time there. Everything that was placed was amazing; the tress, the breeze of the air, etc. It made us feel like heaven on earth. The place was very cold and the view and atmosphere were very beautiful. We visit the place just for one day, but that One day we seize the day.
Also, for us to carry out an impossible task or activities that are filled with excitement and courage, as what I've is to do some adventures. All adventures are simple and yet a memorable one. But some people take it easy, seriously to start because they already know about all the challenges of adventures they do in their lives. And nowadays, aside from physical adventures, there are a lot of channels also on TV that gives a regular show on different kinds of adventure. For example, mountain climbing, sky diving, place tour, swimming, etc. In this way, people can create their challenges of doing some adventure in their lives. To sum it up, Doing adventure in our life gives us many good experiences and teaches us to choose the difficult path. And such adventures, make us brave and prepare to face many difficult challenges in life.

Insights about teaching speaking, listening, and writing skills to the children
Every student has its learning styles and understanding of the said subject. Children nowadays are very hard to teach because of technologies like gadgets, especially children in remote areas. Exerting effort when teaching a child is a must, in able for a child to gain learning. Teachers must have the passion, will, and patience to teach a child so that a child will be ready to take on a journey as a student until he/she can finish his/her studies.
Teaching how to read, listen, and write is very hard to do especially for elementary students. Not all elementary students can read and write, and some students can listen and read but poor in writing, vice versa. Why? Is it because of a lack of attention to teaching from their parents when they are at home? Or they don’t have the interest to learn? There are many reasons why a child is like that. Teachers prefer to think of a way or strategies on teaching that can gain the attention of a student. Providing or preparing activities for a student such as writing properly, practice reading from the basic words to intermediate words, and especially practicing a student on speaking and listening skills. Students need to boost their confidence when they are in the crowd so that they won’t be judged. Sometimes, students have the fear of facing the crowd because they might be bullied especially on activities like writing a speech and read it in class. Teachers must help them to gain confidence, passion, and dedication so that they can face the crowd without hesitation and avoiding from being bullied. Also, teachers must not pressure students to learn immediately instead help all students feel like a part of the school and educational community, assessing the learning styles of their students, keeping in mind that being different is not a hindrance to learning, and encouraging students to ask questions what they don’t understand something on the lessons/lectures or need further clarification. Sometimes, teachers are also sacrificing their time and effort just to teach how to read, listen, and write a child. Time-consuming? Yes! But in exchange, the benefit of a certain student will have a great impact on his/her following years.
As a future educator, I need to know this topic because, in the future, I might get an idea or technique on how to get the attention, and how it would be interesting for the elementary students. It is important also especially on my chosen degree because teaching lower grades are very difficult than the higher grades. Thinking strategies, what are the possible outcomes, what are the things to be limited in the classroom, the modifications and improvisations so that students will put their lessons on their mind. Furthermore, being a future educator is putting your passion and dedication towards students will very much appreciate. Every student has understanding, resources, and interests on which to build. Teaching a certain lesson does not begin from knowing anything but learning that is based on entirely new information given to them. Many kinds of learning require transforming the existing understanding of a student, especially when one understands needs to be applied in new situations. And teachers must have a serious role in assisting learners to involve their understanding, building on learner’s understandings, correcting errors, and observing and engaging with learners during the procedures of learning.
“The Difficulties of Every Student on Living Alone without their Parents”
Nowadays, many college students are studying and living far away without their parents. They prefer to study in a well-known state colleges, universities and community colleges because of the high standards and quality of the school they wish to attend. But in exchange of being alone and far away with your parents is you feel home sick because you can’t see them and missing them badly. You have to think the main point and objective why did you chose to leave them and that is to study so that in the future you can finish your studies and make them proud.
As for my experience on studying far away and living alone in a boarding house, many problems may occur but I can give a few tips on how you deal with the situation; First, when you arrived at the place, the school you want to attend and especially arriving at the boarding house. YOU HAVE TO CHECK AND EXAMINE THE PEOPLE YOU INTERACT WITH, these are very important because people nowadays are very dangerous, you cannot tell who are your true friends are and who can be worth of your trust. It’s better to be ready at all times or at least be vigilant on the surroundings. Second, KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS WATCHED! You have to be careful on your belongings, especially your money. Although you have your own keys on your room, there are some opportunistic people will just barge into your room without your permission. Third, STUDY ALL YOUR SUBJECTS AND MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY! It is very important to schedule and manage your time wisely; being a college student is not easy because of the loads of subjects you are taking in, but it depends on the students on how they will deal on it. It is very important also to manage your time, because setting a time will really help you to pass it on time all the projects, written reports etc. this is really a great help on being a student. Fourth, ALWAYS COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PARENTS! After a difficult day in the school, you have to communicate also to your parents. Today, the technologies are helpful and useful to the students like me. You can have video a video call, phone call to them just to regain strength for another day. Fifth, HANGOUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS! It is very important to hang out with your friends because they can be your stress reliever in a good way. And lastly, ALWAYS PRAY! Pray for guidance, knowledge and strength so that you can do your best in performing in your class and you can pass all your subjects especially your majors.
Living alone to study is very difficult because you are not just leaving your parents but you are trying to live independent and your enemy is yourself and time. It’s not easy to balance your time. However, by just balancing your time and studying hard you can reach your dreams in the future and of course make them proud. So that’s it! Now you have learned the tips on how to deal with the difficult situation living alone to study far away from your home as a student. Hope you learned with it.

And lastly by Berna Alexa Fritz Amor Labay “Ang Buta og ang Iyang Kandila”
- I jus't want to share this experience way back in my 2nd year college. Hope you enjoy and like this short experience of mine as a future educator.
Have any educational experiences increased the enjoyment of specific texts in reading literature?
Literature has been one of the courses or subjects that I took during my Senior High School years. I admit that it used to be one of the subjects that I feared a lot. No, it is not because of the teacher but the subject itself. I was overwhelmed by what people usually say about literature, that it can be "time-consuming", "too difficult to understand", and even "only for intelligent people"! It truly made me scared because I'm really not fond of reading literature works and I don't have a choice but to take the subject during my 12th grade of high school. I enjoy reading but usually just short stories or news articles that I often see yet all my fears slowly faded away the moment our teacher encouraged us to never be afraid of trying things that are foreign to us.
We read different literature works every one or two weeks and did activities that I have learned to love as time passed by. I used to hate group activities, class performances, and oral recitations because it makes me share my thoughts to everyone while all their attention is on me! Those gave me anxiety yet our teacher slowly applied all those activities in every literature work that we read and study in a specific week. I slowly learned to enjoy the art of reading literature. I didn't know that literature can be as exciting and creative like how our teacher showed us. It showed me how excellent and how much heart writers exert on their works especially the Filipino writers. It made me realize that through literature, different topics or issues in a society are tackled. There is something in literature that moved my heart and increased my enjoyment in reading such texts.
It is indeed true that through writing, change is possible. The words, sentences, and paragraphs in a literature work will remain but the heart and mind of the reader have been changed and have learned something that will forever make an impact towards the individual. Enjoying literature wasn't an instant thing for me, I didn't learn to love it in just a second. I gradually learned to appreciate such works and how words of an author can make a change and give hope in our society.
Good morning everyone 🤗 I'm back 😁 Long time no post. I'm just being busy lately for my online class. Keepsafe and Godbless everyone ❤️ Happy earnings to all ❤️
Easy-to-Make Graham Balls
*Graham balls are a simple, yummy snack for the kids!*
Hi Everyone! Lately, I was looking for something to eat for a snack when I saw a small container in the neighborhood retail store with what looked like like small balls carefully wrapped in colored plastic. When I asked the storekeeper what they were, she answered that they were homemade graham balls. I got curious as to what they would taste like so I bought a few pieces. When I opened the wrapper, I saw a small, round, colored brown ball. I sniffed the brown object, and it had the smell of graham crackers.
I am familiar with graham crackers because we use it when making MANGO FLOAT, a popular Filipino dessert usually served during special occasions like Christmas, New Year's, and birthdays. It is a trifle made of alternating layers of cream, graham crackers, gelatin, and fruit. Since I liked the smell, I tried biting it. It tasted good; it had a marshmallow inside. I liked it so much that I bought some again in the following days and shared them with my niece and nephews.
Seeing that they also liked it, I decided to make some instead of buying them from the store. That way, I could make more at a lesser cost. I searched the internet for the ingredients and the instructions as I was not brave enough to ask the storekeeper how to make them. I was surprised to find out that it doesn't involved any cooking, and the ingredients are easy to find.
*These are the ingredients I used in making graham balls.*
Ingredients
2 packs crushed graham crackers
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 bag marshmallows
Instructions
In a bowl, combine 1½ packs of crushed graham crackers with condensed milk; mix well. Adjust sweetness to taste. Set aside the remaining half pack of crushed graham crackers to use later.
Put a small amount of the mixture in your hand and flatten it a little bit with your fingers. Add a piece of the marshmallow in the center.
Closed the dough by forming a small ball with your fingertips.
Roll the graham balls in the remaining crushed graham crackers or in powdered milk. You can also roll them in dried coconut or chocolate sprinkles to make them look more appetizing.
Set in the refrigerator to cool for 10 minutes.
What are you waiting for read.cash friends! Try this one for you kids/family 😊

Importance Of Reading Books
**11 Benefits Of Reading Books | Why Is Reading Important?**
**Importance Of Reading Books**
Reading is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge and lessons to read while keeping our minds active. Reading books can help us learn, understand and makes us smarter. Not to mention the knowledge, vocabulary expansion and thinking skills we develop, so read a good book today!
**Why Is Reading Important?**
Books can hold and keep all kinds of information, stories, thoughts and feelings unlike anything else in this world. Can words, paragraphs, and reading fiction be all that great for you and your health? It definitely can, and it is a timeless form of entertainment and information.
“Reading a book, and taking the time to ruminate and make inferences and engage the imaginational processing, is more cognitively enriching, without a doubt, than the short little bits that you might get if you’re into the 30-second digital mode.” – Ken Pugh (President of Haskins Laboratories)
In fact, for years reading was the only form of personal entertainment, and perhaps this is why it has been in the spotlight for such a long time. Reading has survived the years, and luckily, the benefits of reading books have survived right along with the books. So why is reading good for you?.
Reading is a timeless form of entertainment and information.
11 Benefits Of Reading
1. Cognitive Mental Stimulation And Brain Exercising
Reading is great fun for many people, but it also has many benefits for your mental health in the form of thinking and understanding. By concentrating on the words and the storyline, it stimulates your brain and cognitive functions. This is particularly good to teach in elementary school. This sharpening of the mind will eventually heighten your focus when concentrating on something important. Elementary school students are at the age where they can benefit a lot from this mental stimulation.
Regular reading doesn’t just help with your critical thinking, but it also improves your brain function. Consider what happens when you work a muscle every day. That muscle grows and becomes much stronger than before. Reading books works much the same way for your mind. Consider how many people today are affected with Alzheimer’s disease. Working your brain will make you less likely to get alzheimer’s disease. Reading doesn’t just help with your critical thinking, but it also improves your brain function
2. Vocabulary And Knowledge Expansion
When reading books, you might come across a few words you don’t quite understand or even recognise. This confusion can lead you to look up the word and discover the definition. Because you didn’t know the word, to begin with, the act of searching for the definition helps your brain retain that new and exciting word, i.e. vocabulary expansion. Consider how far your vocabulary has come since you first learned to read. You now know many new words that are more intelligent sounding than when you first started your reading habits.
What does this do to benefit you? Well, after several days of regular reading and looking up new words you don’t understand, your vocabulary size will begin to expand one word at a time and language skills improve. Words and phrases, if you read every day, fill your brain with a new vocabulary that you might never have learned without reading books. This is proven in this study by the University Of Oregon. http://reading.uoregon.edu/big_ideas/voc/voc_what.php
3. Lower Levels Of Stress And Tension Relief
Most people know from experience that reading books is a great form of entertainment, but what you and those other people might not realise is that reading can help lower stress levels. You read that little fact right. The very act of it and focusing on the written word can help relieve your mind of anxiety and reduce your blood pressure. By pulling your mind away from the stress at hand, you can relax and let the stress levels melt away. https://www.selfdevelopmentsecrets.com/reading-reduces-stress/
Stress can affect many parts of your daily life, and after long periods of intense stress levels, it can even be harmful to your overall health. Both novels, and other literature can help solve the issues that stress causes by allowing your mind and body to relax. Once you start reading books, you will start to focus, not on your stress, but on the words and storyline. In time, reading books will provide stress relief, making you feel better mentally and physically. Be sure to flip through print books the next time you’re feeling stressed.
4. Helps With Depression And Dysthymia
Reading, especially self-help books, can help ward off depressive occurrences and mood disorders. Just like with lowering your stress levels, it stimulates the part of the brain that deals with depression as well. Self-help books, full of information about how to better yourself and your state of mind, can help ease depression. Reading books can be extremely beneficial for someone who might suffer from depressive tendencies but not enough to need medication.
Decreasing depression might seem like an odd benefit, but the stimulation of the brain is extremely helpful when it comes to easing something of this nature. The feeling of happiness that also comes from hearing stories can brighten your mood, helping your day turn from sad to happy. Of course, it is not a permanent fix for a serious problem, but it can help ease the difficulties of depression. Consuming literature works much like a pain reliever might relieve joint pain.

5. Memory Improvement And Better Focus
Though it has been mentioned earlier about how reading books can improve concentration and critical thinking, there is another part of mental health that it helps to improve. This point is stated by NCU on their blog. Our minds are thinking of a million different things all the time. Reading at least a little each day can improve your focus and your memory function. In this instance as well, it stimulates the brain, particularly the part of the brain that helps with memory and attention. Just like with physical exercise, it is a form of mental exercise that pushes your memory and focus to the limits. https://www.ncu.edu/blog/reading-improves-memory-concentration-and-stress
How does your focus improve? Your focus is strengthened because it requires focus to read. When sitting down to read a book or magazine article, you will not understand what you are reading unless you’re focused. Consider what it is like when doing a math problem. To get it correct, you have to focus intently on that problem. The same goes for reading books. Your focus improves with your reading ability.
6. Strengthens Your Writing Abilities
Health is just one of the benefits of reading; it has benefits for other aspects of your life as well. These advantages help to make readers well-rounded individuals. Those who write, know the importance of reading books. Whether you write things for work or just for fun, heavy reading can improve your writing skills and abilities. There are several ways in which it can help strengthen your writing styles and skills, and each of these ways happens without you even realising it.
The best part about reading about how to improve your writing skills is there are various books written about the writing craft with information about all forms of writing. You can find these books at any bookstore, both online or in store. If you are a serious writer, you can read both novels or these amazing books on writing. Any form of reading can improve your writing tremendously.

7. Enhances Your Imagination And Empathy
Although the enhancement of your imagination is not one of the more common benefits of reading, it can significantly increase your imagination. Consider the worlds that you are immersed to and the characters you come across while going through a mystery novel. Because of these worlds and characters, the part of your brain which houses your imagination is stimulated, causing you to imagine what the places and people look like just by picturing the words.
The imagination is a powerful tool that can be useful in all aspects of life. Though it might not be considered as often, the imagination is what allows us to be empathetic with people. This empathy can help on the job or even at home. With reading being an excellent way to improve your imagination, it is no wonder that books have been a favourite for so many years.
8. Boosts Your Sleep
Did you know that reading books can also help with your sleep? No, this doesn’t mean that it helps you fall asleep, but it does contribute to improving your overall sleep quality, pattern and restfulness. Reading, since it enables you to relax and de-stress, can help pull you into a deep and peaceful sleep. That sounds like it might be too good to be true, but reading can, in fact, help you fall asleep.
Reading before bed calms your body and mind, especially after a long and stressful day. Even if it is just a short amount—a chapter or two—the peacefulness that reading induces can help slip you into a deep and restful sleep. The relaxation that books can bring is just one of the wonderful benefits of reading every night to fall asleep.
9. Enjoy Your Entertainment And Peace
Perhaps the most well-known benefit of reading is the entertainment value of opening a book with crisp, white pages. Of course, the entertainment is typically what draws avid readers to pick up the next great book. In fact, it has been a solid form of entertainment for many years. Though reading is perfect for entertainment, there’s more to it than just the entertainment factor.
With the ability to entertain and induce peacefulness, reading has been a constant comfort to people of all ages and from all walks of life. For years, this entertainment factor has been at the forefront of literature. Books and other forms of writing are still just as popular today. The peaceful state of reading has been just an amazing as the entertainment. Many great readers and writers have mentioned the benefits of reading throughout their careers, being advocates.
By immersing yourself in a good book, you can almost feel any stress or worry melt away
10. Reading Can Brighten Your Day
Books can bring joy to your life on a daily basis. The act of reading is a great benefit both to mental and physical health, but it can also brighten your day. Sometimes, the days can be stressful and worrisome, but when you lay down at night and curl up with a good book, it lifts your spirits along with that stress and worry. Or maybe start your day or your morning commute with a book you love.
From vacations to a quick moment while waiting in the carpool line, reading is an effective means of relaxation in an otherwise busy world. If you love to get up early, you should start your day with a little light reading. Your day will be just a little bit brighter, and you can breathe easy. Let books take a little weight off your shoulders so you can enjoy the things around you. Take a few moments for yourself and just read.
11. Helps You To Broaden Your Mind
Books allow you to see things from a completely different perspective. Reading about a certain culture, for example, can help you to understand how that culture differs from your own. You might not agree with that culture’s perspective, but at least you’ll look at things from a new angle.
If you were to read a book or article on the matter written by a Muslim woman, you could learn to start seeing things from her perspective. It’s a big world out there, and reading is one way to expand your mind to all the possibilities.
Conclusion
Why is reading good for you?Books are amazing things that can be both entertaining and beneficial to your health. They are almost like tools to a healthy lifestyle. The books that you choose to read is your preference, which can range from literary fiction to romance to non-fiction. Whatever you choose to read, you can count on the multiple benefits of reading to help both your mind and body.
It’s easy to enjoy books when you’re merely reading for pleasure. Heavy readers will always have a book in their hands as well. As a reader, you probably don’t think of the great benefits of reading either, but they are there even when you don’t realise it. So why is reading important? From stress relief to improved memory, reading is hugely beneficial in all aspects of our lives. Reading is a great way to improve yourself all around.
So take this challenge and improve your reading habits with just one book today!
Development plans seek to boost Philippine agriculture and fishery exports
Driven by economic reform and robust domestic consumption, the Philippines now ranks among the fastest-growing economies in the world, after seven consecutive years of GDP growth above 6%. Despite this, however, the agriculture sector has struggled to reach its true potential. While the country is well positioned to tap into new export markets, volatile weather conditions, land reform issues and a legacy of neglect continue to hinder agricultural output. In addition to these constraints, the Philippines lags behind regional competitors in mechanisation adoption rates, crop research and access to finance.
Despite these shortcomings, some products have had notable success in local and international markets in recent years, including Cavendish banana, pineapple and sugarcane, which benefit from large-scale production, price transparency and reliability. However, other products continue to suffer from low yields due to poor infrastructure, insufficient inputs and land fragmentation, making investment in mechanisation financially unviable. While the sector has suffered from low total factor productivity – a measure of land, labour, capital and material resources used in production, compared to total agricultural output – the country has natural attributes that make it well placed to achieve greater agricultural diversification and productivity. “With the appropriate policy adjustments, more investment can be channelled into agri-business ventures,” Rolando T Dy, head of the University of Asia and the Pacific, Centre for Food and Agri-Business, told OBG.
Players have identified the key areas that need to be improved in order to increase productivity and ensure Philippine agricultural products are globally competitive. “The three priorities for the development of the agriculture sector are access to finance, knowledge transfer and upgrading infrastructure,” Ramon Segismundo, president and COO of Hijo Resources, told OBG.
Structure & Oversight
Agricultural production is distributed across the country, with about 32%, or 9.67m ha, of the Philippines’ total landmass categorised as agricultural land, of which 51% is arable and 44% is permanent cropland. In terms of oversight, sector policy is spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the leadership of Emmanuel Piñol, secretary of agriculture. Other key bodies involved in the sector’s administration and development include the Agricultural Credit Policy Council, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Fisheries Development Authority.
Production
The production of rice, known locally as *palay*, is largely concentrated in Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley and Ilocos, which account for 19%, 13% and 10%, respectively, of total national production. Cagayan Valley is the largest producer of corn, generating 23% of national production, followed by Northern Mindanao (17%) and Soccsksargen (16%). Meanwhile, Davao is where the most coconuts and bananas are cultivated, with a respective 15% and 38% of all production, while Western Visayas grows 59% of the country’s sugarcane.
The production of livestock breaks down into four main categories: pigs, cattle, *carabao* (water buffalo) and goats. Central Luzon and Calabarzon are the largest pig-farming regions in terms of production; Northern Mindanao, Ilocos and Calabarzon are the main producers of cattle; the top-three carabao-breeding regions are Western Visayas, Davao and Eastern Visayas; and the biggest producers of goats are Ilocos, Central Visayas and Central Luzon. Central Luzon is the main source of chickens, ducks and duck eggs, while Calabarzon is the main producer of chicken eggs.
Mindanao is an important contributor to the fisheries segment. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is the province with the largest volume of fish production, totalling 856,152 tonnes in 2017. In addition, the Zamboanga Peninsula region accounts for almost 70% of the country’s overall sardine production. Central Luzon also plays a leading role in the segment, with the region being the source of 40% of tilapia production and 50% of tiger prawn production. Meanwhile, Ilocos accounts for the most extensive catch of milkfish, Calabarzon of round scad and Soccsksargen of skipjack and yellowfin tuna.
Agricultural Policy
One of the most notable changes to legislation in recent years has been the lifting of restrictions on rice imports under the Rice Tariffication Law, passed by the legislature in November 2018 (see analysis). Effective from March 2019, the new law lifts quantitative restrictions on rice imports and removes the import monopoly of the National Food Authority (NFA). Aimed both at bridging the supply gap and reducing prices, the new law has been met with mixed reactions. While the previous policy of capping rice imports was aimed at protecting rice farmers, it intensified inflationary pressures when domestic producers could not meet demand.
The new law is expected to ease supply-side pressures contributing to inflation by allowing private operators to bring in rice directly from abroad, which was not an option when imports were strictly controlled by the NFA. Under the new regulations, ASEAN rice imports are subject to a 35% tariff, while non-ASEAN rice imports are subject to a 50% tariff. However, concerns that increasing rice imports could harm the earnings of small-scale Filipino rice farmers saw lawmakers approve a funding mechanism of P10bn ($186m) per annum through 2025 that will be financed through the import tariffs and used to enhance the competitiveness and productivity of local farmers. This funding mechanism is aligned with President Rodrigo Duterte’s 10-point socio-economic agenda, which highlights rural investment and value chain development as key areas. Despite the gradual shift towards a consumption- and services-driven economy over recent decades, the agriculture sector still accounts for around 30% of the labour force, with the majority being subsistence farmers, making it a vital element of governmental efforts to pursue inclusive growth.
While recent reforms are likely to boost the sector, the impact of some legacy programmes remains a source of debate. The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Programme (CARP) was initiated in 1988 with the aim of promoting inclusive growth and enhanced agricultural productivity. Under CARP, private and public farmland of an extension greater than 5 ha was to be redistributed to landless farmers, farm labourers and tenants, regardless of prior tenurial contracts or productivity.
Since its introduction, an estimated 83% of total agricultural land in the country has become subject to CARP procedures. As a result, the average farm size has been reduced to 1.29 ha from the 1980 average of 2.84 ha. Some 57% of farms are now less than 1 ha and only 0.03% have an area of 50 ha or more. Land transactions remain complicated and continue to hinder investment in the sector. Although CARP was successful in its efforts to eliminate the hacienda estate system, save for the sugar-producing province of Negros Occidental, the programme has since lost political appeal and consequently witnessed a continued decline in funding.
Although there has been success in eliminating inefficient tenancy agreements, many smallholders still lack the expertise or access to capital and technology to enable them to transition from subsistence and smallscale farming to agri-business. In addition, CARP has been a notable hurdle to mechanisation. The fact that land is divided into smaller areas makes it difficult for businesses to expand and increase their output. Thus, it is not possible to invest in updates to farming methods.
Since 2000 Congress has significantly reduced the budget for land acquisition and distribution. In addition, Congress directed the Department of Agrarian Reform to focus on support services for land reform beneficiaries rather than the acquisition of new private land. In recent years, the Duterte administration has received criticism from some quarters for allowing the use of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.
Economic Contribution
In terms of gross value, agricultural production rose by more than 4% yearon-year (y-o-y) in the fourth quarter of 2018 to reach P521.2bn ($9.7bn). Agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing contributed 8.9% to GDP in the same quarter. According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, crop production accounted for 50.4% of total agricultural output, equivalent to P295.4bn ($5.5bn) in value terms, during the final quarter of 2018.
Performance was mostly positive among the country’s key crops. It is true that as a result of typhoons in some of the country’s major rice-producing areas, rice production declined by 2.2% y-o-y in the last quarter of 2018. However, over the same period, corn production grew by 10.8%. Other important products, such as coconut, banana, pineapple, coffee, mango, tobacco, abacá, mung beans, tomato, onion, cabbage and rubber, also witnessed an uptick in production. In the final three months of 2018 livestock, poultry and fisheries production expanded y-o-y by 1.64%, 6.99% and 1.93%, respectively. Over the quarter, livestock production accounted for 17.7% of total agriculture output, poultry production accounted for 16.2%, and fisheries accounted for 15.7%. While the fisheries sector has long served as an important generator of national income, there are suggestions that further reforms could help ensure a sustainable future for the industry. William Tiu-Lim, founder and CEO of fisheries firm Mega Global, told OBG that the establishment of two distinct fishing zones in south-east and south-west Luzon could be positive for food security. This would allow each zone to have alternate recovery periods in commercial fishing areas, thereby enabling stocks to replenish.
Farm gate prices increased by an average of 5.6% between January and December 2018, which is marginally higher than the headline full-year inflation rate of 5.2%. Average prices received by farmers grew by 2.2% y-o-y in the fourth quarter of 2018. Meanwhile, the average price of crops increased by 1.9%, livestock by 5.7% and fisheries by 7.8%. Poultry production, by contrast, recorded a decline of 4.9%.
Agricultural Trade
At present, the Philippines is a net importer of agriculture products. During the first quarter of 2018 agriculture imports increased by 4.2% y-o-y to reach $2.99bn, compared to $2.87bn in the first quarter of 2017. Cereals continue to dominate demand, accounting for $569m of agricultural imports in the first three months of 2018. This was followed by residues and waste from food industries, which represented $383m of imports, while the miscellaneous edible preparations segment was the next-largest contributor to the import bill, accounting for $326m.
The country’s export earnings from agricultural products continue to be an important pillar of economic growth. As far as revenue is concerned, animal and vegetable fats, as well as oils and their cleavage products, remain the country’s top agriculture export, totalling $310m in the first quarter of 2018. Edible fruits and nuts are the second-largest earner of export revenue, with $271m in the same quarter, followed by preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants as the country’s third-largest export earner, with $116m over the same period. The Philippines also exported $1.16bn of farm goods, which constitutes a 26.2% decline compared to the same period in 2017.
Cavendish banana, the Philippines’ leading export commodity in terms of quantity, has witnessed a drop in production, as Panama disease – a soil-inhabiting fungus species – coupled with volatile weather continue to plague vast areas of agricultural land. A drop in demand from China, as it grappled with US trade sanctions and a domestic economic rebalancing in 2018 and early 2019, also played a part in the reduction of export revenue, and has weighed heavily on banana farmers.
According to reports from the Mindanao Banana Farmers and Exporters Association, Panama disease is the leading cause of the decrease in production in Northern Mindanao, Panabo City, Kapalong and Asuncion in Davao del Norte, as well as in Calinan in Davao City. Meanwhile, drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon has caused some farmers in Davao del Norte to abandon their banana production for corn and palm oil. As yet no cure has been found for Panama disease, which continues to affect banana production. However, in an effort to alleviate the strain imposed by the devastating fungus, the High-Value Crops Development Programme (HVCDP) under the DA in Davao Region has been helping banana farmers combat the disease. Estimates from the HVCDP suggest that in the first quarter of 2019 the disease’s extension had declined to 5000 ha, down from 15,000 ha in 2015. As part of its efforts, in 2018 the HVCDP introduced the Giant Cavendish tissue-culture variant 218, a clone that is resistant to Panama disease. While these measures have played a significant role in mitigating the effects of the disease, the clone variant has proved to have limited demand in certain important markets such as China.
Agro-Industry
The DA has set ambitious targets to become a net exporter of agricultural products, which will require substantial investment across the agricultural value chain. “The department needs to develop and implement agriculture and fishery standards that are in line with international standards,” Dy told OBG. “There are major export opportunities that can be better exploited, such as the production of high-value rice varieties, but mechanisation rates need to be improved alongside government regulatory capacity.”
Creating more resilient crops has been identified as vital to enhancing agricultural competitiveness. As such, the DA has advocated for the use of hybrid seeds to increase the rice yield, with the goal of planting 1m ha with hybrid rice by 2020, at an estimated cost of P15bn ($279m). The DA’s goal of creating more resilient crop varieties through the use of hybrid seeds has been met with wide support from the business community, as genetically modified crops should improve productivity, promote self-sufficiency and spur overall development.
In parallel with the fall in the agriculture sector’s contribution to GDP in recent decades, a number of segments have also witnessed contractions. For example, in 2018 the fertiliser segment declined by approximately 1.8% compared to the previous year.
Irrigation
A number of promising initiatives have been undertaken in recent years to spur rice yields, including efforts to enhance irrigation systems, farmto-market roads and post-harvesting facilities. In addition to local government efforts, the World Bank approved $170m of additional financing for the Philippine Rural Development Project in early 2018. The project has been designed to increase farmer incomes and develop rural infrastructure such as roads, irrigation systems, greenhouses and composting facilities.
According to the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), there are three types of irrigation systems in the country: national irrigation systems (NIS), communal irrigation systems (CIS) and private irrigation systems (PIS). The NIS are the largest in size and are operated and maintained by the NIA, with beneficiaries charged a fee for the delivery of water. CIS are smaller systems built with the participation of farmer-beneficiaries through their irrigators. Once completed, the CIS is turned over to irrigators under a cost-recovery scheme pre-agreed by both the NIA and the irrigators. PIS, meanwhile, are constructed and maintained by private investors without technical assistance from the NIA.
In a bid to boost agricultural trade and water security, the DA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture in March 2019. As part of the deal, Hungary has promised to share their technology and expertise to help the Philippines improve irrigation as well as expand access to clean and drinkable water. The MoU is also expected to increase market access for agricultural products between the two countries, which will include the high-value export of coconut products, fish, mangoes, copra meal, carrageenan, abacá and seaweed-based animal feeds.
On top of these efforts, the Japan International Cooperation Agency has agreed to restore and improve the national irrigation system under the JPY6.19bn ($56.1m) National Irrigation Sector Rehabilitation and Improvement Project. The project aims to restore about 2289 ha of service area in Visayas, which will help raise productivity and the incomes of 1266 farmers in the area.
Outlook
Forecasting the Philippines’ agricultural output is a difficult task given the archipelago’s geographic location within the Pacific Ring of Fire. While uncertain weather conditions pose a significant risk, investments in key infrastructure and value chain development will provide a buffer for future yields. Under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-22 the government is targeting an increase in the value of agriculture and fishery exports by 7% in 2019 and 9% every year thereafter through to 2022.
The rollout of new regulations is critical for the agriculture sector. While achieving consensus over reform measures is unlikely, the long-term success of the sector will be determined by the ability of policymakers to facilitate necessary imports and promote exports, as well as farmers’ capacity to enhance their productivity.
It is crucial to elaborate a regulatory and investment strategy that drives value-added agri-business and, over the long term, increases regional inclusivity. The challenges farmers face in scaling up are numerous. “Poor irrigation networks, limited farm-to-market roads and the inadequate provision of extension services hinder rural development and constrain income growth,” Oscar Torralba, independent director of the regional energy solutions provider Kaltimex Energy, told OBG. “The government also needs to address land mapping to promote efficient land use.” Going forward, land reform constraints and limited infrastructure will hinder farmers’ ability to respond to market demand. Furthermore, rice producers are facing added pressures due to the Rice Tariffication Law, which came into effect in February 2019. Bearing this in mind, greater access to credit is critical to improving productivity and facilitating a shift towards high-yield and high-value crops.
Keeping children away from the bad effects of gadget overuse
**Negative effects of excessive gadget use**
Excessive use of gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, and computer desktops can cause physical and mental damage to children.
According to a study, a child will likely to become overweight and develop seizure and vision problems when they spend too much time using gadgets. In Central Visayas, one of the regions in the Philippines, a National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 7 study reported that 3% of children are considered as obese and overweight.
A health article also states that the thinking and emotional development during the first five years of a child is crucial. Allowing them to spend more than two hours a day can impact irreversible damage such as slow cognitive development and attention deficit.
Keeping children active
There can be many ways to prevent children from too much tapping on their game app or watching their favorite channel on YouTube.
A health article advises parents to discipline their children by limiting the time of their gadget use. It is also recommended that they spend more time with their offspring and let them understand the matter.
One of the best ways is to involve them with an outdoor hobby. Keeping them active on sports or other physical activity will distract them and would even improve their physical wellness.
One school in Antique takes this seriously and involves their students with ball games and gardening. Every morning during school days, children would gather on a school garden complete with gardening tools and tend to their fruit and vegetable crops. While others grab a ball and play in the open field.
“Aside from learning how to plant, our students also develop an active hobby,” shares Andy Rios, their schoolteacher. “Twice a week, they tend to their vegetable plants – digging the garden plot and removing weeds.”
“We learn gardening from our books but it is a different experience to do it in real life,” 10-year-old John Bernard, one of the students, expressed how he likes going to the garden during the morning with his classmates. “At home, I began helping my mother in tending our backyard garden.”
Blended learning effectiveness: the relationship between student characteristics and outcomes
The teaching and learning environment is embracing a number of innovations and some of these involve the use of technology through blended learning. This innovative pedagogical approach has been embraced rapidly though it goes through a process. The introduction of blended learning (combination of face-to-face and online teaching and learning) initiatives is part of these innovations but its uptake, especially in the developing world faces challenges for it to be an effective innovation in teaching and learning. Blended learning effectiveness has quite a number of underlying factors that pose challenges. One big challenge is about how users can successfully use the technology and ensuring participants’ commitment given the individual learner characteristics and encounters with technology (Hofmann, **2014**). Hofmann adds that users getting into difficulties with technology may result into abandoning the learning and eventual failure of technological applications. In a report by Oxford Group (**2013**), some learners (16%) had negative attitudes to blended learning while 26% were concerned that learners would not complete study in blended learning. Learners are important partners in any learning process and therefore, their backgrounds and characteristics affect their ability to effectively carry on with learning and being in blended learning, the design tools to be used may impinge on the effectiveness in their learning. https://educationaltechnologyjournal.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s41239-017-0043-4#ref-CR24 https://educationaltechnologyjournal.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s41239-017-0043-4#ref-CR41
Some of the area here in Cagayan de Oro City are affected with the pandemic. Things are much different than they used to be. I defiantly feel the panic from others as grocery stores sellout of things like toilet paper or bottled water. I feel the panic from our leaders, who have put policy in place to hopefully end this virus in the near future. I think the reaction is appropriate and I appreciate everything that people are doing to help stop the spread, no matter how boring it may be.
