Twitter Blue is basically now a subscription service. What I'm reading around is that there is no identity background verification/authentication for Blue subscribers. Smart move galvanize Average Joes as making it about being more democratic and allowing everyone not just journos and celebrities to have the privilege of being verified and then have them foot the bill for Twitter operating costs and purchase.

I think, in reality scammers will be really happy about this change.
Indeed, hacked verified accounts would costs thousands to tens of thousands $ in the black market before. With that money now you can get thousands of Blue Checkmark accounts at $8/month. Bot-farms and scammers with a lot of resources at hand will be throwing a party
