The ink I wasn't born with a pen neither was I born with a paper. I learnt to write. Mama always said I was very interested in knowing how to write my name than in learning how to write the twenty six alphabets. My name is Kemi, most people assume I'm Yoruba but I'm Igbo. My mom just enjoys doing things that people will find absurd which to her makes her unique, hence she gave me, an Igbo girl, a Yoruba name. Mama is a writer, a successful writer. She's wrote many books and has won the Orange award for literature (I don't know if that's the real way it's spelt). I starting writing stories and little articles when I was ten. I can't draw. Mama said that the pen is stronger than the sword. I didn't believe her for sometime. I watch the number of people who die daily from the swords, gun invlusive though mama never mentioned guns and bombs. When I argued with Mama that the pen I useless. She will usually at and say "you will learn as you grow". And I learnt as I grew. I learnt about the power of the media and the way people struggle to control it. I wanted to be part of those who controlled the media which ultimately controlled the masses. I became a journalist. I wrote a lot. I welded the power to make or break. I welded the power to swap the mind of thousands. And as I type i know that each tap on my keyboard is powerful. I'm powerful. I'm strong... All because of the pen. Mama is dead. She died a long time ago but not before i told her that she's right. "The pen is stronger than the sword"

When life happens "I *can't remember the exact moment it all happened, maybe it has always been there yet I can't pinpointed when I found out. Maybe it was on that fateful day when you were crying, the way you trusted me, or maybe it was the way you didn't shy away from reaching out to me" I stopped to wipe my tears. I'm crying.* "It might still be the way you made me laughing the days when I thought I was useless or maybe it was the way you listened to me even when it's clear I'm talking gibberish. Maybe i fell for the way you laughed with your head thrown back at my silly jokes which I'm sure I've told a million times" I said with a smile looking at the only piece of man who I'm ready to give my life for. He was crying, not the wailing type of cry but the silent type. The tears made their way silently down his cheeks and by instinct I reached out to wipe them. He caught my hand and held them to his cheeks, then he kissed my palms alk the while looking me in the eyes. "I love you, Tunde Kelvin Adeboye" I said with all the fibers in me " and I'll love you till forever comes" I was broken when I met him, damaged even. He was broken too. The first time I met him was on the 7th day after my breakup with Nonso, who never told me he was a gigolo. "Isn't that drink too alcoholic for a pretty damsel" was the first thing he said to me. "Is it a crime for the damsel in your story to get high" I said using a finger quote on the 'damsel' "Not as long as her prince charming is here to protect her" he replied taking the empty seat next to me. " I'm Ben" he said lifting a shot glass to his lips. "Oh, just as in Barbie right?" He gave me a curt nod with a smile. " I'm Jasmine. Not the Aladdin type, I'm more the Mulan type" i said taking a shot. We exchanged contacts that night and became friends. He asked me out on our fourth date . Seven days later he called me at 9pm, crying over the phone. I got to his house and saw him seated on the ground with a bottle of Hennessey beyween his legs. I kept my bag and sat next to him. he shifted the bottle to my side and I took a sip and gave him back. This continued for many minutes till he said, "I'm HIV positive" I didn't care of his status. His viral load is low and he's healthy anf faithful to his meds. We both found each other and stayed together. He got infected by his ex girlfriend and had been rejected by many girls after learning of his health status. I waited a few minutes then I said,"I had a hysterectomy " The last abortion I did for Nonso lead to an emergency hysterectomy and i lost my womb and bade farewell to Eve carrying a child. That night we drank and drank and drank till we got drunk and woke up with a huge hangover. We didn't break up. We healed each other. Paying no ears to the priest I leaned forward and kissed my husband. My Tunde. Today is March 10th, on this day last year, I met a guy in a bar and now he is my husband. I don't know what you're going through but suicide is never an option. Better days are coming.

Mikaela- 1 " Mikky, where you dey?" Pepe asked, "you no dey lodge" she said to support her point. I swapped the phone to my left ear, supporting the phone with my left shoulder, trapping the metal device between my left ear and left shoulder. "I dey work" I answered taking a huge drag from the cigarette tucked between my lips. "I thought you said you were done for the day when you left yesterday" she stated rather than asked. "I met a client on my way home" I said dragging my Jean trouser up, in that moment I could be mistaken for a professional wrestler "babe we go talk later abeg, I need to clean up" I said and ended the call. I immediately dropped the phone in the small crochet bag I was carrying. I wore my top which is as revealing as a transparent film, I buttoned up and took a long, searching look for anything that might be incriminating. Satisfied with my situation I took a deep breath. I made a mental calculation of the things my client will find missing when he wakes from his beauty sleep. Watch, check. Money, check. Wedding ring, check. I didn't mean to cause commotion or destroy someone's home but my client really is a bad douchebag who doesn't deserve whosoever he's married to and moreover the ring is a 24 carats diamond studded gold ring . And that's money. And I care about money. I wore my sandals and moved to exit the room with the fancy bag- which I always carried in my small bag- containing all my loots. "Goodbye Patrick" I said with a theatrical voice at the slumped form on the bed, " I pray you don't find a way to explain to your darling wife what happened to your wedding ring". Closing the door with a bang I made my way to the stairs. "Tessy baby" I greeted the receptionist. "You don finish?" "You go collect your cut tomorrow, you know as e dey be" "Okay na, no wham" she replied with a big smile. I stepped out into the night . The moon is full. I placed a call, "Wipe the cameras". I ended the call. The blue Venza beeped when I pressed the button of the car key that's in my palm. " Say goodbye to your car, dear Patty" I said with a mocking voice and made my way to the car. I am Mikaela. Mikky is my street ID. I'm a hustler. I'm a goal getter.
