I take the issue of mental health seriously. There are people who suffer because they either were born with mental limitations or suffered trauma from abuse. I was one of the many unlucky who was born to monsters that called themselves parents. It was not until last year that I realized that I was full of self-hate because I never experienced love from either of my parents, even when they told me that they love me. In the year 2019, I had developed, battled, and overcame serious clinical depression. I had overcome it because I knew that it was holding me back from my friends who I have made when I moved away from my father. But I had cut off contact with them during my early and severe stage of depression because I felt really hopeless. But I overcame depression because I knew that I missed them. Fast forward a year and I felt much better after doctors and therapy, I ended up contacting my friends and the biggest disappointment had happened: they did not care that I overcame depression. But I also understand that even though I had pushed them away a long time ago and I am responsible for the friendship being broken, I still felt betrayed and forgotten. Because of that, I no longer wished to be friends with anyone anymore. But a certain circumstance has happened to me where I have learned to overcome my past pain and over several months, I have learned to stop hating myself and start learning to overcome the negative parts of my life. One of the keys to a happy life is not thinking positively, it is learning to overcome the negativity. Even though I do not wish depression on anyone, I felt that it has taught me about learning to overcome the negatives. There are many different types of mental illness that cannot be described in one short post, but the purpose of this post is that I hope it inspires people who are struggling with their own struggles of either mental illness or toxic family situations to seek help and assistance.
