Being nice to others all the time can lead you to heartbreak and betrayal when the person or people you are giving the consideration of being a friend decides to harm you when you are exposing your vulnerabilities to them. I came to accept that the society I live in will never be a happy place no matter how much people are calling for an end to racism, hatred, violence, and discrimination. The idea of being kind to others and they will return the gratitude sound good on paper and in films, but being applied to real-life is nothing short of a fantasy. I believe that preparing for a dystopian future is more useful and realistic than hoping and praying for a utopian paradise. I feel that people are always seeking mystical comfort than facing and overcoming the uncomfortable difficulties in life. Some people still believe that being nice to everyone will mean a nicer world. It will lead to being taken advantage of and a more unpleasant realization that the world will never be as kind as it should be. Below is an excerpt from a YouTube video that illustrates my point of why everyone does not deserve the courtesy of being treated nicely. “It’s natural and beautiful to strive to be a nice person. In a world full of cruelty and thoughtlessness, nice people are committed to being generous, sympathetic, and gentle. They never want to cause anyone to feel defeated or to lose sleep. They will go to great lengths to spare others tears. It sounds especially lovely. Nevertheless, it seems impossible to go through the whole of life being nothing but kind. Sooner or later, we are all called upon to make decisions that, even as they protect things we very much care about, will ruffle feathers, generate upset, and may lead us to be (at least for a time) violently hated in some quarters.” ~The School of Life~ YouTube video "Stop trying to be nice all the time": https://youtu.be/-TxzW4eklEU

Your words are very wonderful and honest and unfortunately true my friend but when a person is strong from within he will not be defeated I know exactly what you mean but I know that you will be able to face the cruelty of life Please my friend don't bring despair back to your heart
I understand that you feel like I am being bitter about life, but ever since I've learned to overcome my inner demons I have, at the least, learn to stop hating myself. I just feel that being nice to everybody is a poor judge of character because not everybody deserves kindness. You know that my own father never treated me with love. He treated me with manipulation. If you give the wrong person your love, you're just asking for trouble. That is why I'm always prepared to deal with the people who will seek to hurt me in any way. Love is just harder to come from someone who has never truly gotten it in his life.
