November 19 is International Men's Day. International Men's Day has been commemorated every November 19 since 1992, when the date was established in the United States by Thomas Oaster, director of the Center for Men's Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas. The objective of this special day is to address issues such as men's health, highlight the positive role and contributions that men make in their community and in society, promote gender equality, peace, non-violence, equity, tolerance and understanding. On this date, the aim is to honor men for their positive and active contribution to society, although it is not a massive event on the calendar like Women's Day, it is still celebrated, with the aim of commemorating the positive and active role of the male community in society. This day seeks to recognize and raise awareness about the health of men and boys, the promotion of greater gender equality and the highlighting of positive male role models. Despite being celebrated in more than 60 countries in North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia, no body officially recognizes it, which is why it is not so popular. Only some organizations dependent on the United Nations Organization, such as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), take it into account and organize activities to celebrate men. However, the date of International Men's Day is not yet officially recognized, nor is it a massive event on the calendar, at the level of International Women's Day. Those who promote this event organize different global campaigns throughout the month of November to reflect on new masculinities, not macho, patriarchal or violent, since these also affect men It should be noted that in some countries International Men's Day is celebrated on March 19, coinciding with Father's Day.
