We were nursing the same drinks we'd ordered an hour earlier. I’d been doing most of the talking, she’d hardly said more than a few words. But I didn’t feel like I was talking to myself because I could see in her eyes she was listening. It was a blind date set up by a mutual friend of ours. I hadn’t expected anything to come of it until I saw her standing outside the restaurant, waiting for me. She was so stunning I suddenly felt under dressed for the occasion. After dinner, we walked to this bar down the street and the two of us sat outside on the empty patio. Before I knew it I was telling her the story of my life. This was unlike me, and eventually I grew embarrassed and wondered what she thought of my rambling. The only thing I knew about her at that point was that she'd been single for the last three years. I knew what was wrong with me, why I was alone, but I couldn’t understand how she didn’t have someone. That's when I remembered this line from a story I once read and the words came into my head like a kind of explanation. "There are all kinds of love in the world, but never the same love twice," I thought.
