My wife has the best nose. It's like her superpower the way she can smell things from great distances. We'll be out and, out of nowhere, I'll see her start sniffing the air letting me know her nose has caught some distant scent. "Do you smell that?" she'll ask. "No," I'll invariably answer. "I think someone's smoking," she might say. Almost always it's usually something unpleasant. It's why I ultimately quit smoking as well. I couldn't fool her darn nose. Last night we were hanging out on the porch when I see her do her sniffing thing and she says there must be a skunk nearby. That's when I realized that a heightened sense of smell must be like the worst superpower of all since it only causes her discomfort. "I mean wouldn't you rather have super vision, or even super hearing?" I say as I explain to her that her super sense of smell is pretty much useless. Then without skipping a beat she says, "No, that's not true. Let's say we were sleeping and there was a fire, I'd be the first one to smell the smoke and wake us all up!"
