Ginisang Uhong Have you seen this kind of mushroom in your place? We call this as uhong and according to our grandparents, they find these mushrooms after lightnings and grow in clusters and usually in ant-hills or higher grounds. Sad to say, I only saw one yesterday in the garden and not in an ant-hill but still on a higher ground. And I really thought before that mushrooms were umbrellas of dwarfs that own the ant-hills so I'm afraid to touch or pick, haha! These mushrooms are edible and so I'm still alive after eating last night. People here love to make "tinu-om" or cooking mushrooms and other ingredients wrapped in banana leaves. I only sauteed it with bell peppers, cabbage, onions, and garlics but I will try next time the "tinu-om". Mushrooms are rich source of fiber, protein, and antioxidants, and low in calories. They may reduce the risk of developing serious health conditions such as Alzheimer's, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. They're also great sources of selenium that may help lower blood pressure especially during pregnancy. Selenium may lower risk of heart disease and oxidative stress in our bodies. May help improve memory loss in people with Alzheimer's disease, may lower the risk of breast cancer, lung, colon, and prostate cancer. It is also important for the proper functioning of our thyroid glands. If you're vaccinated and you're experiencing also the not so good effects of it than the virus, better eat mushrooms and other foods that are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and selenium.
