9 years ago, on the 4th of December 2012 when Bopha, Category 5 typhoon nicknamed Pablo here in the Philippines, was the strongest typhoon to strike in the Southeast Asian island (history.com). During that time, we're still in the office preparing to go home for according to the weather bureau, it will hit Visayas in few hours and I just said (while eating) that, it's a super typhoon but I believe He will do something. After few more hours, our boss called me over the phone to continue our work for Pablo changed direction. We're so thankful but on the other hand we're sad for it destroyed homes, cut trees and power, cancelled air and water transportation, and killed 1,901 people in Mindanao according to philstarlife.com. A year after, on November 8, 2013, typhoon Haiyan known as Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, was then the strongest typhoon ever recorded. Leaving 6,300 deaths in the heart of the Philippines, the Visayan Island. The most traumatic, depressing, heart-breaking typhoon to remember especially for those in the coastal and lowland areas that lost almost all of their loved ones before Christmas and new year. No one harmed in our family, relatives and friends but I still cry everytime I see the documentaries about it. Now, we are facing again another super typhoon Odette with an international name Rai. This time, it will not just affect the Visayas or Mindanao but almost all areas of the country. And looking at the map, the entire Visayas as the heart of the Philippines will again trying to be strong for Odette's audit. When deforestations, poverty, constructions, over population, climate change combine, make Philippines the country that is most vulnerable to the deadly effects of powerful typhoons, according to several scientific studies (scmp.com). But remember the power of our prayers and we are stronger than any typhoons. Stay alert and mag-ingat. Kaya natin to! Weather Bulletin screenshot from https://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph
