It takes 3 days and you get the average price over the 3 days.

I usually just use HBD to buy HIVE on the internal market(no fees) and the power up to HP. Don't have to wait 3 days and the price is what it is on the moment of your choosing.

    You can do it directly in the PeakD wallet. Just click the little dropdown menu next to HBD and click market. But this is of course if you have HBD liquid.
